Thread: Holo Master Ranger... In under 7 days...
I chose Ranger, I chose Carbineer and I chose Creature Handler. I love ranger, but once I'vemastered it I'll drop all but tracking and frontier, once i'm done with CH I'm dropping it all, same with Carbineer. Then I'll move on. It's the great thing about this game, you do what you want. I have no opinion as to wether this should be on the Jedi board or not, and I really think it's a waste of time to argue over the matter. For those of us that love ranger do what I'm doing:
- Tell everyone on your friends list to keep an eye out for Jedi. Have them tell their friends and so on. I know the bounty hunters have their eyes peeled. Ask them to send you a /tell as soon as they see one and proceed to point 2
- All you need now is your guildmates, friends, mercenaries and whatnot and use your tracking skills to hunt the former holo grinders down and make them start their FSCS over.
This may seem a little evil, sadistic or wrong to some....but there's a reason I'm a ranger for the Empire ![]()
I am a former ranger that needed to leave the profession in order to "continue on my path to enlightenment". I see nothing wrong with someone power gaming through a profession. It was said that lower quality products are now affecting the markets as well as sub-par resources. That really is not the fault of the people power gaming. They are putting a product out for sale, people can either choose to buy it or not. I for one tried out armorsmithing for awhile, found that i didn't like it and went on to a combat profession. (which i enjoyed way more because i am an action junkie! ) However, I still sold some of my "crap" armor (let's be honest, that's what it was) on the bazaar. I just sold it for a couple hundred credits if that, just to be pulling in a little cash even if i was operating at a loss. And you know what people bought it!!! Surprise surprise. Free will, God how some of us hate it.
Another person stated earlier that people are constantly telling others how to have more fun playing their way. This is so true. But the fact of the matter is that to some people powering through a profession is fun. Holo-professioning is fun for some people, because it gets them that one step closer to that oh so precious force sensitive slot. And if that is how they chose to play the game who am I or anyone else for that matter to tell them that they are wrong for doing that? It does not affect your gaming experience in the least bit unless you choose to let it. Don't like "crap" product's? Then go to a respected dealer of the particular product you are looking for. It is just that simple. It is simple your point of view(which you are entitled to) that is effecting your game play.Just as in real life if you don't likeshopping at Best Buy....then you go somewhere else. And after all isn'tthis game supposed to immitate life in some way with the role-playing? Interesting how it mirrors real life in this respect.
One other thing i wanted to address is this forum on this board. Who exactly are these Elders that you are refering to? This is a Ranger board and this thread was and still is relevant to Rangers. That is the profession these holo hunters were told to do, so this is where they need to go to find out about it. It is where noobies will come to learn about it. It is for everyone to use. It is NOT someones personel soapbox....it is everyones...lol.
And finally...yesi am holo-hunting but i am doing it as i feel like it. I got one and it told me to master swordsman, which I have about half-way done in a little under a week. And have come to love the profession. So to all those close minded people out there that hate the powering through the profession... you may be surprised by the number of people that find they like it (the profession). I'm sure I'm not the only one that has experienced this. And perhaps these people that have the same experience with the Ranger profession will come back to it.
The bottom line is try to enjoy your game experience and let others enjoy theirs. Don't like what someone has to say? Don't listen, read it..."turn the channel".
Good Luck 2 all you out there having fun and....Happy Hunting!!!!

"Nraas, you are a TK aren't you? Haven't you seen the TK forum the past month? It's littered with the ''holo prof'' posts all asking the same question over and over again."
Aye, I am a TK, but I don't read any forum other this one, the Scout forum, and the Corr. forum. ![]()
Anywho, this thread serves that purpose...
- As I have already directed one individual here.

Though it will never be floated due to the controversial nature of the topic.
I would rather have 1 post in the forum with a guide than several posts that read ''My HOLO told me ''MASTER RANGER''...''
Nraas, you are a TK aren't you? Haven't you seen the TK forum the past month? It's littered with the ''holo prof'' posts all asking the same question over and over again. Again, I really feel that it's better for us to have a post like this that BAM! answers all the questions right there.
It's like way back when I was in high school... there was a sex-ed discussion for the school as a whole and they passed out condoms and other contraceptives to the students. Some of the parents were outraged, saying ''omg now my son thinks it's ok to have sex!'' when in reality their sons and daughters, who were going to have sex anyway, can have some protection, and potentially avert std's and pregnancies. It comes down to this question: people are going to do it anyway, would you rahter they did it safely and were knowledgable about it? or would you rather deny that it's going to happen and then be blindsided by the consequenses?
The same applies here. There are going to be holo-rangers. Would you rather have all their questions answered in 1 place or deny that they exist and answer the same how to quesiton 10000000 times?
(jabbering run-on rant incoming!!)
I'm not saying that I agree with power levleing through a profession only to dump it. But that's not my beef with the players, it's my beef with the system. I myself am a power gamer. I am like a hamster in a wheel that knows he's not going anywhere, but keeps running and running and running. The hamster just isn't satisfied with sitting still. So am I not happy with a stagnating template. I never have looked for a holocron, and I don't really want to be a jedi (they are cool and all, but i don't like risking it all on network latency!)
That being said, i have mastered a number of professions, and sampled a number of other ones. Once I get my char to a place where she is maxed on skill points and has a solid template, i go and cannibalize it and do another prof. I was TKMR for about a week before i got bored and started dropping ranger for carbine. I was TKMCarb for not even 2 days before I started dropping carbine for fencer/musician. I was TKM/Duelist for less than a week before I decided that I wanted something different. Then TKMCH. And now MCHMR is my next goal. SOme people just like to grind. It's how they play.
