We are not losing anything from the current Field Bioscience.

We are Gaining the Tracking ability and the line is being renamed Tracking.

I read on the Scout forum about the changes to the lower end camps and the resources it takes to make them. I was surprise..the numbers seemed a bit high to me. Any word on what our camps will now take to make with the increased amount of resources needed?

It was way too easy to fill the scouting xp requirements, at least in comparison to any of the elite combat professions. I completely filled bioscience, from 0 to tier 4, just by harvesting snorbals Saturday and Sunday night while I was working through tier 4 of the rifle sniping line. While harvesting creatures that provided enough rifle xp to gain one tier 4 skill, I filled tier 1, 2, 3 and 4 with the scouting xp. That doesn't seem right, and I am not surprised that it is getting increased, especially considering the are making the branches that use the scouting xp much more useful. I wasn't even going to go for field bioscience, but I wanted Lokian leather hide for my friend, and since the xp was just pouring in, I filled it without even trying.

I initially wasn't going to go for Master Ranger, but with the new changes I think I might. If I can go up the trapping line this week, which shouldn't be too difficult if I simply through some traps while I'm kiting, and save the Fronteiring until after the patch, I could basically get Master for free while I grind away at Rifleman. I still haven't seen any explanation of what Tracking does though, but coneal is very appealing.

hehe.. guess this means if I fill in all the xp for a box the night prior to go live, I just might be paying an NPC Ranger to train me seeing it sometimes takes me a few days to get the training in the higher level boxes.

But that's ok.. Someone had to pay for it the first time.

So the rest of us should suffer because a few gotthrough with exploiting a bug??

I just spend the last like 4 hours killing every blue Icame acrossand right now I have 10k scout xp from it.Doesn't sound like it needs nerfing to me.I one shot blues and get 42-60 a pop from them. That is at least 238 one shots to get that. This would cover the first level of ranger hunting.

Sorry, but the xp seems fine to me. I feel like I am grinding right now, that says it all.

can you PLEASE point out where the exploit is in killing smaller mobs? i personally go for larger mobs so i dont waste weapon durability on the 1 exp i get off lower mobs ( for swords) when i can get 300 scout exp and 2k 2h weapon exp from larger mobs

Ric,

As our Ranger camps don't take hide/bone/meat (after the High Quality), there shouldn't an increased cost associated with them.

The primary reason for the increase in hide and bone is to make up for the glut caused by the 60% rule. This glut doesn't exist on the Field Base and HTField Base camps that only use polymer and metal.

Can't wait to track, can't wait to track, can't wait to track. I'll be able to go out and really see if they nerfed all the baby spawns.

I also wish they had done something with burst run. I think we should get a shorter reset or longer amounts of burst run. The turning off and on would be nice too.

Never said it was. Whoever the poster was that said xp was out od whack because he could get 40k in 2 hours off blue mobs MUST have been exploiting some bug giving more xp than intended. I did this for 4 hours last night and got 10k.

Guys,

I think the guy who claimed 40k in 2 hours was exercising a bit of hyperbole. Let's cut him some slack.

If you're in a good group and your doing all the harvesting (until the patch), you can suck up some pretty good XP, fairly quickly.

My PA does Fambaa hunts as our intitiation into the group. We were able to kill Fambys in less than 30 seconds when we had a good number of us out.

Each Fambaa gives 400 XP (on average). Someone could theoretically clear 40k in an hour if they are in a group this size with exclusive harvesting rights.

So it is POSSIBLE, but it's highly unlikely.

Upping the XP requirements will make the profession harder to complete, thus giving those of you working on Ranger more game time to reach your goals - you won't get bored by having no goals as quickly. In addition, it will weed out the "dabblers" just trying to get /areascan and the other new perks.

We need to put the complaining about the upping of the XP caps behind us. They're going to change and there's not much we can do about it except prepare and share tips. Let's move forward instead of dwelling on the past.

The baby giving the same exp as adults is gone now, if that is the "exploit" that you are thinking of. Substantially less harvest as well. For a while it was little exp but harvest was the same. Now it's NO combat exp and little harvest. Only thing it really does is count as one more to the explore missions.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Ok, I like to argue just for the sake of arguing... so let's get the flame war started

Something needed to be done to bring Ranger gains in-line with other elite professions. I also somehow mastered ranger when only getting 1,0,0,0 in Rifleman and 1,1,0,1 in creature handler (higher now, of course) even with all of the ninja-harvesters around.

This may have been intentional on the part of the Devs (/salute Holo) to be more along the lines of how they treated most of the professions in Beta... that they want us to get a chance to try out all levels so we can givebetter feedback earlier, especially on the higher-level skills and abilities. They already knew that Ranger was a profession that needed a lot of work but weren't sure what they should do, (/humility off) so the more mature players who really wanted to play the role of Ranger and help with constructive feedback would be able to "get there faster" and give constructive feedback. To this end theystartedby makingsure that Ranger was easy (except for camping... they wanted to give us SOME challenge) to obtain but not very appealing to those who didn't really want to become rangers to keep out most of the bounty hunters with extra scoutxp laying around. /conceal may have been one of those features that made rangers just a bit too appealing to the less mature considering the other help Rangers needed. Now that they are adding in the features that will have high appeal to the masses, they are ready to make it more difficult to become Master Ranger.

Bah! I'm going with the conspiracy theory that they have a finished game on the shelf waiting for the right time to release it (SWG was really a version of "the sims" for a society who lived a long long time ago in a galaxy far, farawaythat they foundina datapad in the roswellcrash).

The 60% rule does bring the harvesting in-line with other professions where everyone gets a chance to gain XP, such as you can have 5 novice medics in a group all healing a pet or brawler and all gaining xp at the same time/rate, and everyone gets weapon and combat andchxpwho even fires a shot or sends in their pet nightspider at the last second(woot! 800xp from my spider helping kill that faamba) whereas with scout/ranger it was a one-kill one harvest kind of thing. On the other hand, as has been mentioned before, Rangers are a more mature crowd that don't have trouble rotating harvests. I gained 90% of my scout xp as ranger either solo or with a friend who had all of the scoutxp he needed for CH and so didn't need any more, and was glad I could harvest more from the same creature than him for us to have more loot to split, just wish he had told me he wanted hide instead of bone from that one

I do not see a big problem with raising the XP reqs of the Ranger Tree. I am a 1/1/2/1 Ranger who has been clawing up the tree 4 hours a night every night. At the same time I am a 1/0/0/0 Rifleman. Since I only use the Rifle I would expect my Rifle and Ranger skill level should be a little closer.
