Thread: Heads up on all current Ranger changes on TestCenter (long)

Would anyone that runs on Test know how the camoflage skill shows up? Is it just a small status icon on our bar, or does there happen to be a visual indicator with it on characters? I know it's purely eye candy, but if it actually skinned the character in a camoflaged look, that would be icing on the cake.

Leveling in Ranger is way too easy. Though I don't get 40k xp in 2 hours (probably because I don't group much), I can solo and get about 6k per hour. If I'm lucky and hit a major spawn spot, it'll jump to 10k per hour. I do the same thing, run around and kill all the creatures I can kill easy and ignore all con Yellow/Red.

So with an xp requirement of 10/20/30/40, one can master a branch in 17 hours. And it's not even a grind since I get to run around and enjoy the environment and different creatures. I get hide/meat to sell.

The trapping xp is a total joke. Not sure if you consider this an exploit or not, but this is how I mastered trapping branch in 2 hours. Buddy up with CH who can call 2 pets out at a time. I'm also a CH with one pet out. Find a big nasty creature (on Tatooine, it's the mountain squill). Send one creature to attack, but don't shoot, then throw traps all day long. Since each trap which succeeded give me trap xp = scouting xp and since I can succeed setting 25 traps before the creature died, I get 25x scouting xp (or 11k trapping xp per squill). Killed about 15 squill and I had mastered the trapping branch. I'm betting they're going to nerf (it's a good nerf) the trapping xp.

The wilderness, on the other hand, all I can say is, enjoy the scenery.

Upping the xp requirement is good. Making master Ranger in 40 hours is just way too easy. I mean, in the same amount of time it took for me to master ranger, my pistoleer level gain is 2001 and CH is 2100.

In fact, I'm going to propose something which will bring the heat onto me even more--the xp upping is not enough. It's only a 70k increase per branch. That's only an additional 7 to 10 hours. They should double the xp requirement (to 25/50/75/100).

Reading this thread has made it painfully obvious that we have no rangers on test, heh. No one can tell us how or what tracking even looks like, and how far it works.

Rangers to many were a joke, the exp to level was and the skills you got were, give the class value and make us work for it. Makes sense.

SJr,

I'm logging on to Test Center soon, and hopefully they'll allow me to test the Ranger changes as well as the Scout ones. I'll let you know when i get on there.

I dunno, I'm a bit disappointed. These xp changes were a total stealth nerf and no one else is bothered but me.

That's a 70k increase in both scout xp lines for a total of 140k.

A 70k increase in trapping line.

And then a 50k DECREASE in Frontiering.

I guess I'm the moron that wasted my time getting the 200k survival xp out of the way. I thought the xp requirements were good the way the were.

The XP Changes were in the Patch Notes, but they do seem excessive. A stealth nerf would be changing something we out telling anyone...

Wow that's good news, I didn't know they would be rolling those changes out that fast. I can't wait for tracking and camo!

That brings up an excellent question that I haven't seen the answer to yet: how long until these changes are published?

I can make 40k scout XP in 2 hours, enough to fill a 4th tier skill box.

Oh, and please share because I just don't see it. I MUST be missing something. Even killing bolle bol on Naboo or whatever they are I only get 300 scout xp, the downtime is too long to make it worth it.

Are you a, Rebel, by chance? You sound like one. You see, most of the Rebels I meet just whine, whine, whine. Like a little stuck pig.

If you are holding the Bolle Bol's on Naboo as the "greatest and latest" thing to get scout experience from, then that explains why you suck.

Get off Naboo. Get off Corellia. Get off Tatooine. These are "newbie" planets. I did exactly what the poster was talking about - I got 40k scout experience in about 2 hours and finished up my Wayfaring 4 last night.

I was hunting Snorbals on Lok solo. They are quite easy with root/snare traps and their missions pay out around 13k to 16k a pop. They are also very good weapon experience (1k - 2k+ a pop).

No, I wasn't using any exploit, and neither are the other posters. You just have to face up to the fact that you suck. Maybe this game or profession isn't for you.

Hey, we're all rangers here... let's not have any namecalling ok? Leave that for the other boards...

Besides, the newbie planets are for everyone, not just the newbies.

Mord,

While rebels are whiny, I tend to think that Rebel Rangers at least have one thing going for them - they're Rangers.

Not all of us are as advanced, so we need to help the new guys, not berate them. Save all your berating for the CHs. They deserve it more.

XP is definately too easy to get right now.. I trained in Novice 4 days ago, and im already 4/2/4/4...

If you ask me, the whole game too easy for an mmorpg...

ive nearly finished all my skills and ive only nearly been playing for a month!

In EverQuest it would have taken me about 2 years to reach the equivalent in level of what i have reached in SWG in less than a month... And the thing is, i dont find much of a reward from it all because it is just all so easy and quick to get. Hope they bring out the expansion soon :/

Padain I'm humming along at about your same pace. Nothing wrong wi that unless you're a power leveler, in which case you should be getting that exp. I dont and haven't, but I am also enjoying my playing time. I dont rush. Rangers dont unless need be.
