I didn't see any flaming, just a tongue in cheek comment from a Correspondent.
Lets face is, this CU has all of us in here a little hot under the collar - for good reason, but lets not assume that we're flaming each other over this.

You are right, the absolute worst case scenario is that Ranger gets removed as a profession. All that's being said is that this is a pretty unlikely scenario.

The best that could happen is that we'll get a hat, health increase, revanmp, weapon, full realisation of all the skillpoints we've spent etc.

And the reality will no doubt be somewhere in between.

A breakdown in the trading of harvested resources would be great. However, the devs would fix it not by addressing the issues with Ranger but by giving other professions harvesting bonuses.

It's obvious they don't care about us.

"Wait for your revamp" they've said. Fine, we wait.

Now they do the CU and it's like they didn't even bother to look at our profession.

Why aren't traps considered something that they should address in the CU?

Why are Doctors considered to be more "combat orientated" than Rangers?

Why the hell are we told repeatedly that "stealth" isn't going to happen and then spend time coding it and giving it to 2 other profession, but not Rangers?

I sincerely hope that Squad Leader and Smuggler gets pushed back behind us in the "revamp" queue.

Not only have we been comepletely and utterly overlooked, we've actually been nerfed. How the hell did that happen...guess our non-combat related profession was deemed too über anyway.

Its not that they are considered more combat orientated, its that they have so much more of an impact on the current combat imbalances.Their orientation needed to change inorder to adress the balance issues and this means revamping them in the CU.

I think thats going a bit far. Smugglers & Squad Leaders fully deserve thier respective revamps and I don't think its right to vent our frustration in thier direction just because things arn't going so well for rangers currently.


As for the developers not caring...I'd say they do "care" but that we're just not a "priority" atm. People tend to get the two mixed up. They arn't the same thing at all even though it mightfeel like it.

Yes, of course they deserve it, but honestly.

Which profession is going to need a revamp the most after the CU? Both Smuggler and Squad Leader are included in the CU. As far as combat is concerned they're going to be complete.

I honestly don't believe that a new slicing mini-game for smugglers comes before us.

The order in which professions were to receive revamps was made before they decided to comepletely leave us ouf of the biggest change to the game to this date.

heh, sorry... i meant i'm leaving my rant... my first instinct was to not hit submit... my second was to edit it to oblivion...


as for leaving... i'm not a ranger anymore anyway... i wish i could say i was, but i have thisneed to be useful to my guild/friends... we don't hurt for creature resources with all of our scouts, tracking isn't an issue, and although we enjoyed sitting in the big camps... /sigh... i've been a ranger, and dropped ranger three different times... in the past two years i've probably got about 10 months of rangering under my belt... yet i can't seem to keep it... it just isn't worth it for me... but there is no profession that has the potential to be what i want, more than ranger...


i'm just starting to see that ranger will not be what i've always thought it should be, because all the roles we've created for ranger are being given to other people.... it's not the abilities we're upset about.. it's the fact that we have had to develop a purpose for ranger - and everytime they give stealth to riflemen, or our crowd control (area traps) to combat medics, they are saying "good ideas, but that's not what a ranger is"...


so what isa ranger?... i'm out of ideas, at least ones i like...


they are shooting themselves in the foot... they promised us a revamp, but by the time it comes around all of the stuff we wanted will be in other professions... what on earth can they give us to make us happy?


this CU was meant to reconsider how the game handles all aspects of combat... almost all of our suggestions have been related to combat... if they intend to do any of them, they should be taking care of it now... it will be even harder to balance later... now is the best time to do something with us...


since my point is getting cluttered... i'll reiterate:


we establish therole of a profession through it's unique abilities... when asked to define ranger, we createdabilities - we weighted them and did our best to balance them... taking our abilities doesn't just hurt because we were hopeful for them... it hurts because once again, we have no purpose...
