Thread: The Outdoorsman...

Overall I like the idea of the Outdoorsmen.. I think if you look at the historical trapper types in American History.. namely the French Trappers.. or the modern Alaskan Man.. both have extensive leanring from indigeous peoples.. Perhaps having abilities associated with planets.. that would be "learned" from the natives.. like Tuskens and Jawas on Tat, Gungas on Naboo, or Nightsisters on Dathmor.. sort of like the camo-kits, but actually make it worthwhile...

Tatooine---- Desert Survival and Warfare, learned from Jawa/Tuskens
Corellia/Talus---- Call the Butterfly????? no idea here...
Naboo/Rori----Swamp Travel, learned from Gungas
Nyms----Droid Hunting, Learned from Nyms
Dathmor---- Higher Resists, learned from Night Sister or whoever..
Dantooine--- Dantari Survival, primitive survival methods..
Endor---- Ewok Hunting Methods, learned from Ewoks of course... gives higher yields..
Yavin---- Jedi Conceal, allows to hide from Force Sensitive, or increases resists against them..

Just an idea.. the other part of this, is that it's sort of a quest to find the trainers for these skills.. make it more of a Ranger Quest for extra learning.. dunno if they can do it, but it would make things interesting...

That is pretty sweet idea. Perhaps too ambitious for the current plan though (which is pretty ambitious on its own).

Looks great NRass, as always, however I have one question. As a wookiee, how would the ghillie suit work on us? I mean, we can't wear much as it is...Would it be like a smock? Just don't tell me we would be excluded from it

I was under the impression that wookiees were just one big ghillee suit. Am I way off base here?? lol

seriously, I'd say that a special wookie-sized suit would have to be created, and the animation might be a little different, but yeah, wookiee rangers need just as much love as every otherRanger. Maybe a "weighted wookie ghilee suit" instead of the regular one, but all in all, the idea should be the same. Either that or we get the Wookiee community to admit that they look like mops and if they do that... we give them a ghillee suit mod if they aren't wearing anything else on their torsos.

YES, i'm kidding. I love wookiees. Seriously.

/wookieehug to the entire wookiee community

/wookieehug to the wookiee Ranger community.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Goddam i love this profession and this forum... all because of you guys. reading this at works just gets me all goddam excited , imagining the things we could do. I am fine with not having any lethal skills but skill that aid other professions immensely.

Like with that Area Sleep, yea it would be perfect replacement fo Rescue. If a small group was being mobbed and couldnt take it, you could set up a macro yelling to everyone to hit peace, then throw it and watch all the creatures go unconscious. Helping us regroup. In our new camps... while we rock their socks of with our hard rocking rangerness...

Rock on.

Damage Mitigation eh? Hmmm...

Currently I have a Dodge bonus request in the proposal, and reason it out by suggesting outdoorsman understand how a creature will act and can react before getting hit.

How would I reason out that a hunter can take less punishment when we are hit?

We know alot about creatures and thier methods for dealing damage and can 'mitigate' the effects there of?There are alot of BS in game reasons that our clever little minds can come up with. But, the real reason, is for class balance. Thevarious ranged professions got it because why? Well, they are supposed to be good at ranged combat, so they got rangeddamage mitagation. The melee classes got it for the same reason. Hense, if we are supposed to be 'creature centric'. We should have Creature Damage for the same reason.

Actually Damage Mitigation was added to replace the 2.5x damage multiplier that was the bane of the Rifleman profession, and I think it was a pretty neat solutionto the problem.

Thank you... I will add a paragraph for that.

"I thought that we had a good chance at geting our mounts to actually mimic our terrain negotiation abilities"

I will think on that.

Crud. Blank post.

/sigh

Anyhow, more than a burst swim, I'd just like to see our wayfaring give us increased swimming speed. And while we're at it, I like water. What if we could /dive, sort of like a /forage in the water, and find some crazy stuff?
