""3.If you put a herd to sleep with the AOE tranqualiser, will they all awake if you attack one of them, or only the one being attacked?"

Don't know... Anyone think that social assistance should break sleep? Would it be too powerful if it did not?"

Wouldn't that then defeat the purpose of the Lure? It seems to me that if they didn't break sleep that it would be a far better method of hunting then using Lures. You could area sleep then hit 1 and pull it away from the group, take it out and then repeat and sucessfully take out 1 creature at a time. Seems like it would be far too powerful.

An excellent piece of work, Nraas. I know I speak for many when I say "THANK YOU".

I will not go into an editorial review... its a fine piece of work and a great starting target for changing the profession.

I for one would really, REALLY, like to see someone from the developer's end address this document IN FULL and with SPECIFICS. A simple yes or no answer to each topic with a short explanation would be sufficient.

DO we have anything to honestly look forward to or don't we? I think we all would really like to know.

"an increased speed while mounted"

Sure. I'll think on that.

"the ability to use some combat special moves while mounted."

If such a thing were to occur, it would probably end up as a weapon profession specific thing (such as Pikeman receiving a special attack usable on mounts).

"Wouldn't that then defeat the purpose of the Lure?"

There ya go. That's a good enough reason for me.

Let's rationalize it by saying the attacked creature makes so much noise, that it awakens its brethren.

That makes sense, I would personaly have chosen the sleep method over the lure myself The only way to justify the area sleep would be if it was on some sort of timer... so short that only a master weapon user would be able to actually take advantage of it.. but that's too much.. I think they should all wake up when you shoot one.

But, what purpose would puting them all to sleep serve at this point?

1. Will a Bio Engineer be able to sample from a sleeping creature?

2. Would a CH be able to tame a sleeping baby?

3.Would we be able to cage a sleeping baby.. perhaps with greater ease?

IF my idea that the first strike on a sleeping creature should be more powerfull then the following strikes actually takes flight, then you would benefit by puting all the creatures to sleep and shooting them with an AOE attack, like strafe shot2 for example.... once they make it so you can do an AOE attack on creatures that are not agroed to you.

So, yeah.. a lot of IF's in there, but I figured that's where were are at this point anyway.

On the AOE sleep gas. I see the greatest use for this trap is if you are hunting a lair and someone accidentally targets the nest causing more aggros to spawn on that person, or just a case where something went wrong and someone or everyone is mobbed by two or more creatures that they can't handle. You would use the AOE sleep gas in this instance to "rescue" the player or yourself and have time to regroup and try again.

attacking a group of sleeping MOBs would definately wake them all up at once, at least ones in the normal "assist" range.

Tranq dart would be slower acting and used in a more planned manner. You shoot the creature and a timer counts down 'till the mob falls asleep. attacking it again wakes it up, or it just wakes up when the effect wares off. A BE could sample from a tranqued creature, but failure wakes it up and aggros it on the BE. another sleep effect cannot be initiated on that creature for a significant ammount of time AOE or otherwise. CH's could not tame a sleeping creature, but putting the adults surrounding it to sleep could make it safer to tame the baby.

Attacking a sleeping creature with /firststrike should not stack. a sleeping creature can't "counter" your /firststrike so there isn't realy any risk in using /firststrike on a sleeping creature, so any additional bonus to attacking a sleeping creature would be overpowered. Even gaining a bonus on attacking a sleeping creature normally may cause balance issues. In other words, sleep should not be like a longer version of knockdown. The idea I have with sleep is not to make creatures more vulnerable, but to take them out of the picture while you regroup or preform another "non-combat" type action like sampling or whatnot.

"what purpose would puting them all to sleep serve at this point?"

Running away very very quickly.

It could be used to put the fight on hold while a group tends to the wounded.

There is of course a chance that the trap won't stick to all the creatures... It could be used to dragsplit the herdup and make them easier pickings.

It does have a lure like quality doesn't it?
