Good idea on the AS thing. I have been playing with a lot of armors. But never opened it up to the AS population as a whole.

Fighting unbuffed. Yes that is possible now as I found out recently. I have the unique perspective ofhaving engaged in very little if any PVE combat(or any PVP for that matter) for a number of months until recently. The reason for this is that Iwas a pure crafter for a very long time and had arrangements setup so I never needed to engage in any combat. Now that I have started doing PVE combat again I have to say that things aremuch, much easier now then they were when I started. I remember when it was suicide to fight a giant peko peko unless you had buffs and a complete set of good armor. Now I find that I can take on a fambaa one on one unbuffed with standard Ubese armor, which would have been unheard of back when I started playing SWG. Apparently the Devs have turnedthe difficultydowna lot since I lastengaged in PVE combat months ago. I have alsonoticed that the amount that is harvestedhas correspondingly gone down as well which makes sense since difficulty levels have dropped.

They turned things down back in the orignal CH "Fixes". But overall you are really seeing how good Ubese can be and how strong our weapons are now.

I can take out an amazing amount unbuffed with TKA, I can clear out lairs of 10k HAM mobs or take on single 30k/40k mobs... TKM is my only combat skill, and I have no medic, (I am a master armorsmith) this is how it's done...

My HAM is aprox as follows....

H 400/500/500

A 400/500/500

M 800/800/800

I use an Accarragm and a Garrmorl to make my stats

H 800/900/900

A 800/900/900

M 800/800/800

I keep my food and spice in reserve and use for whatever is in need (often not required at all) - this includes Won-Won, Vagnerian Canape, Muon Gold and Neutron Pixie.

Then I equip my armor, I use low ham, high base, 80% kin armor, enc sliced 4 peice sets and a 68% ene PSG (PSG has ADK)... I get 80% kin, 67% base armor + 68% ene 30% base PSG for 210/120/237 HAM, so my HAM with armor on is about...

H 800/690/690

A 800/780/780

M 800/563/563

The final part to my success is my VK.... With HAM costs of 8/13/8 even without buffs I can spam specials, witin reason...

http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=210862&poll_id=0&warned=y

Even with all this you sometimes have to switch to auto attack at times, or even back off if things get too hot, but I will be back in a couple of mins...

Can't edit ATM, but I forgot my powerboost, so add 400 to each of the primary stats

I cant even tell you how jealous i am of those VK's. I worked hard last night with my WS alt to go ultra low HAM. And the best, non-loot, i got was 13/33/13 with advanced motors and 11/29/11 normal motor. That low damage is really really low on those and the durability is painfully low as well. And since its a round number it hasnt been replaired.

So now im trying to fiqure out what loot item was used in its creation. And only one that seems possible is one of the super rare NS vibro motors

The weapon is not crafted, it is a loot drop... Also, who cares about condition, there is an ADK on them

my unbuffed hunting strategy has changed slightly.

-buy 542 max damage T21 for 2million credits

this thing is devastating. I can kill the new rebel NPCs in cities unbuffed easily. i did 5k+ damage to one with /strafe2

PS. any rangers on Shadowfire want to group hunt?

Hmm when hunting alone (ranger/rifleman/nov.medic), I only wear clothes with some injury/woud bonus. I drink 2 brandy and get my harvesting droid out (I'm so lazy, don't want to run around all the time). If I've got some camo kits, I use them, or just /maskscent. If it would take more than 5 headshots, I use concealshot. Takes longer, but it's safer. I almost never use traps while hunting solo, but if a creature starts attacking me I have some phecdart or mesh ready. If health and action get low, I wait for them to get up again or use stims.

When hunting in a group, I wear a set of Ubese, recently crafted by my second char. It's only 25% kinetic and about 16% rest, but my secondary stats are still above 200 when wearing the full set (including helmet). It's not sliced yet.I only use brandy and stims. If my health and action get to low, I just heal myself - or most of the time I get healed by a groupmember.

Edit: I use more traps in a group, like mentioned in other posts above. Bone spur, glow wire etc.

BTW one of my guiding things with how i fight is that I havent had novice medic in quite a long time. Between a couple FS trees and Novice CH I dont have the points or desire to carry. Really you could drop the accargm and garrmorl entirely if you just kept sticking yourself with stims. I just prefer the drink method myself.

As a melee'er ive fought armored and unarmored and although as a TKM and formelly Master Fencer i can go in street clothes into a fight. The 50% reduction in damage is just to much to pass up. This doesnt apply to rifleman since they take a 2.5x melee damage hit when holding a rifle. Which means unbuffed your really going to be hurting if something sneaks up on you.

Fodder,

From the response on the armorsmith forum, and me already talking to 5 armorsmiths on my server, it seems that some people do not understand/care about this strategy, which is fine. I really like the look of Mabari Armor. If you have time or interest, could you put together a recipe of how to make Mabari armor that is AP1 and has low ham. Also could you explain the difference between bone armor and chitin? One can be made as an artisan another one can be made by an armorsmith. Also what animal armor segments would your recommend beside Krayt, example: (Voritor Segment/Voritor Scales or Kiliknik Segments/Enhanced Kliknik segments).

The reason why I am asking this, is sooner or later I will find a cool armorsmith who is willing to do something different, who might be interested in the journey and experiment instead of the credit, and it would be nice if I could explain to him exactly what I want, and how its done. Again thank you for this thread. I have already talk to other rangers who are interested in this, and other long-time vets who definitely remember and miss the old-school days of no buffs/armor and 20 person hunting groups.

Honestly it will probaly help you get ready for the CURB when things change if it goes as we have been told publicly.

Guide to loot items and segments. Although it is biased towards the higher end armors. It was interesting to see the replies of "Well it would only way 300 to your stats if you did Comp this way". Ok why would i do that? You go into a fight wearing what you need not protections against the world. I believe Mabari has acid as a protection as well and would help against Voritors. Oh an this strategy confuses even jaded long time players. Look for a JBMat reply saying "6% to kinectic is worthless" not realizing that AP0 vs AP1 makes it effectively 56%. Hes a rifleman who fights unbuffed and usually unarmored since armor doesnt benefit him from a distance

My Mabari was made using

Krayt Dragon Scale

Dropped by Krayt Dragons on Tatooine

Approximate Base Stats:

Cold Effectiveness: 4%
Blast Effectiveness: 4%
Energy Effectiveness: 4%
Acid Effectiveness: 4%
Kinetic Effectiveness: 4%
Heat Effectiveness: 4%

Summary: Boosts alot of resists, but unforunately moves them to special resists, making them immune to improvement by slicing. Can be handy for filling vulnerabilities in some armor types (particularly bone). Stats can vary wildly... high acid effectiveness can be desireable for RIS (for fixing the acid vulnerability).

Usefulness Rating: * * *

I used these to boost all the stats and make a well round set of armor. Since Mabari doesnt require really hard to get organics. It uses literally generic "Hide" which means you can find any that has good OQ/Mall to lower HAM costs and if possible ok SR as well to add protections. The advanced mabari segment requires ditanium steel and bronzium iron which can be rare sometimes. But are worth it for the higher protections and higher durability. Strangely you can save a couple points of HAM costs usually by using base segments. But the tradeoff is usually such that its not worth it to do it. Unless your AS friend has miserable Ditanium and Bronzium.

Now short of being able to get a rare loot item like this. For a lower cost alternative have your AS just make advanced mabrai thats all about HAM costs. It will add some to the HAM cost but lower your investment. Also a secondary benefit of experimenting down HAM costs is that you raise durability. Which is contradictory as you are shaving pieces off the armor. But lets be happy it works that way.

I need to play with Nightsister shards since it only works with heavy armors. I believe it would work in Chitin since its techincally considered a heavy battle armor. Mabari has a very unique color pallet and look. And it can be customized (during construction) to have some very unique looks. More times then not you will get complimented on mabari then told its odd. Its like Padded in that most people think its a clothing type and not an armor. One last thing about mabari is the Helm. I have to go look at my HAM cost on it but it dont think its higher then 34 for the mind. And i always use it with whatever type of armor im wearing to keep my brain regen stats up. Looks funny with Chitin and takes off your special edition glasses. But when your dealing with 900 mind or so every bit that stops damage for low cost is a good thing
