"A Master Rifleman/Master Ranger is going to be the ultimate harvester ever. No one will be able to harvest more. "

This is great news, when will they be implementing this?

Seriously though, I've never run the numbers because honestly I have so much fun just playing my character to worry about how I could be a more efficient money-making machine. But from what I've heard, with afull combat template + novice scout, you can harvest more. This should not be so.

Brisc,

I would respectfully, yet forcefully disagree with you on this. Agonthalia (Draknev) as a Master TKA/Master Ranger was harvesting way more than I could during our hunts together due to the speed in which he could kil critters. Moreover, recently he and I were on Lok hunting and he only had Tracking IV while I was at Master Ranger/Master Rifleman and I was only harvesting 3 more units than he was.

Your assesment, at least based on our numbers, seems to be flawed.

What's been stolen from Rangers?

Scouts had TN given to Squad Leaders and Combat Medics. Yes, all that leading and healing helps you run hills better.

TN for combat medics has always been in the game. The devs didn't give it to them they merely increased the mod. Kinda like when they increased the maskscent mod for scouts when they introduced camo. Also doesn't Squad Leader require exploration IV? While you are at it why you don't you ask the devs to remove travel biscuits as well since they give terrain nav bonuses also and anyone can eat those.

Then camps were made useless to placate the whiners.

The requirement for camps was done to prevent certain exploits (as well as make scouts usefull to a group). When the playerbase was able to successfully convice the devs the exploits no longer existed the restriction was removed. Oh and have you forgotten you still have to wait a full minute or so after combat to call a vehicle when as a scout you can just call one instantly from a camp (thereby making scouts still usefull to a group)?

Remember when camo kits required a floracomponent forcing you to get novice artisan? You complained and the devs removed it. Did the artisan complain when that was removed? No they didn't, so why should you complain that artisan and dedicated combat templates no longer require novice scout?

We had rescue, argueably our most useless skill, nerfed because we could mess with the uber BHs with it.

Wrong answer. It was an exploitable grief tool and you know it. It was forcing players into PvP by way of an exploit and it was a bugged special. It wasn't nerfed it was fixed. Forcing people into PvP for the sake of "roleplaying" as XionLion was doing is wrong. Don't give me lip about "forced" Jedi PvP via BH missions. That is by intent not by exploit.

Now DEs can craft a droid that harvests.

As you now know this also is wrong.

I could say a large number of choice words, having extensive experience with expletives. However, simple words say it best.

TH doesn't care about us, he is catering to the masses, and we are not the masses. He is more than willing to screw us over to make a larger class happy. He must have gotten wind of our idea that more harvesting abilities would make us happy, and improve the economy, so he took the short way out and will now let anyone harvest.

Ahh uninformed ranting is the best kind

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong.

For example, marksman kills with what ever pathetic skill he or she has. Carbineer is crowd control. Looks like a core abilityto me.

Or medic heals. Doctor buffs and CM affects the entire battle. Looks like another core ability

How about entertainer heals mind wounds and clears up battle fatigue. Dancer/musician buffs the mind. Another core ability.

Each profession has some core funtion the beginner classes didn't have.. besides ranger.

And I'd like to argue the ranger/rifleman is the ultimate harvester. I think TKA or carbineer would give the rifleman/ranger a run for it's title.

I can take down a group of 6Rancors in about 15 seconds with strafe shot 2. I can then harvest them very fast.

I must be doing something wrong then..........

I don't know how everyone else hunts, but I sit back from the lair at about 50m in prone and plunk critters with my rifle. When they are all dead I get up and run around from creature to creature harvesting. I then go back out to 50m, tap the lair, rinse and repeat.

If I could get a droid to run around from kill to kill (only requiring one keystroke after each kill) ,and not have to get up, I could just sit back in prone and just plunk creatures and tap lairs. That would be a big help to me and would save time. Taking your droid in/out between lairs/spawnsand grouping is two commands that you can easily set up hotkeys/macros for and don't waste much time.

So if the droids are doing the harvesting for you at the same harvesting mod that you have I am all for them. If the droids help people increase their harvesting mods so they can drop some of their scout/ranger skills then I am dead against them. I'm willing to bend a little bit if a DE crafts an uber harvesting module, then give someone an extra 5% harvesting or something like that.

Wow, you couldn't be more wrong.

How can I be wrong about my own opinion? This isn't fact we're talking about. It's opinion.

For example, marksman kills with what ever pathetic skill he or she has. Carbineer is crowd control. Looks like a core abilityto me.

But what's the end point? Shooting stuff. That's the core ability. It's what the profession is based around. Everything else is just ancillary.

Or medic heals. Doctor buffs and CM affects the entire battle. Looks like another core ability

But the main reason is to heal better. Doc's heal better and more things than a Medic can. Buffing is not the "core". And CM, contrary to popular belief, was never supposed to be a primarily "combat" profession. If it were, it would be Combat Poison Chucker, or Bioweapons Handler. Not Combat "medic". Their point is to be able to heal from range. That's the core. Thus, healing "better'.

How about entertainer heals mind wounds and clears up battle fatigue. Dancer/musician buffs the mind. Another core ability.

Buffs and healing aren't the main reasons for them existing. Those are social classes, designed for social players, to make the game more social. The battle fatigue/mind wounds thing is just a means of providing them with interdependence. It's not the fundamental reason for them existing.

Each profession has some core funtion the beginner classes didn't have.. besides ranger.

I disagree - elites are elite because they further refine a starting profession. If they had another "core" function, they'd be a starting profession.

And I'd like to argue the ranger/rifleman is the ultimate harvester. I think TKA or carbineer would give the rifleman/ranger a run for it's title.

I disagree - but I've not played a TKA/Ranger or Carbineer/Ranger so I can't say from experience. But knowing that the common perception and my own experience is that Rifleman is the most poweful profession in the game, I believe I'm right.

Depending on how this is implemented the droid could be used as a hunting partner. If both the player and the droid can harvest than this just means we could theoretically gather more resources faster though it doesn't help that we only pull around 10 - 30 % more than a master scout. Another benefit would be if this droid also had storage modules so then you can hold your collection of organics inside the droid which would free up your inventory. I have to agree with those who suggest we wait and see how this droid module is going to affect our resourcing abilities.

Greetings,

Well , I have to say after reading all this a wait and see is best. I'm still not convinced this will help us in any way. A few of the suggestions, like multiple harvests are good but I'm not holding my breathe. If the droid actually bumps up my harvest rates cool. If not then why is it there?

I do not know the history of this, scout request, jedi request? Maybe some enlightenment would help. If it is a scout request, I'm not sure why they would make such a request, besides bumping up thier abililities closer to ours.

What worries me the most is the history of the devs. It has become a history of supplying what people do NOT want. I'm not talking about the little bug fixes they do that are necessary (that were listed above).

I'm slowly moving into a philosophical discussion that is not appropriate here so I'll move on...and wait.

Ive been rifleman since launch and i know of its power. It is well suited to the hunter idea, thats the reason i picked it along with ranger. However i also have TKM friends who dabble in scout harvesting (to level 4) and they always manage to out harvest me based on the simply fact they can take the beast down faster at less of a cost whilst wearing armour.

Dont get me wrong im a rifleman and can tank very well against any normal mob however when wearing armour to protect me doing this unless i have a music buff AND brandy i loose too much mind (that i cannot heal) to continuously spam specials.

Obviously each class works wells with different mobs based on their resists etc however if im facing up against high level mobs with my 90% comp on i cant spam special, even with my 75% ubese on i still get hurt on the mind front.

Overall i think both classes are evenly matched, a master ranger/rifleman and a tkm/hunting 4 can harvest roughtly the same amount against high level mobs.

And the funny thing is that I'm a Master Rifleman/Master Scout and I often go out with my buddy who is a Master TKM/Hunter 4, and I'm always getting more than her. I would think that Rangers would be able to harvest faster.

And I'm always buffed (so is she) with a 700+ damage T21, 400+ Jawa, and a +500 DXR6, and enough food to do the job. (Brisc is a PvP/PvE character, so I've gotta have the best stuff for both). Like I said, I think that at some point it comes down to equipment, but if I went back picked up Ranger again, I am fairly positive I could beat any TKM in harvesting.

Out of curiosity, do you use those guns on a regular basis? Nice stats (I assume that is with powerup?) but I would have thought you'd want to save guns like that for special use (i.e. PvP) and that you wouldn't really want to waste them on normal hunting. My guns need replacing often enough as is.

Nemo,

I use them regularly. The T21I just had to replace, because my old one wore out. Those are with powerups, though, so they're not nearly as uber as are available. Bloodfin pushes the limits on all that stuff, being the PvP server.
