Thread: Official: How to Max (3k) health in CU Rangers get shafted
There seems to be 3 ways of doing things here - actually I guess there are 4, the fourth being do nothing, but that really would not be good
1) Make Ranger count towards combat capability i.e. a health bonus
2) Reduce the skill point requirement for Ranger, giving us the ability to take more combat skills
3) Change the way Ranger operates i.e. a revamp.
(1) Doesn't really interest me...see below.
(2) Seems a quick and dirty fix, addressing the symptons but not the cause.
(3) Is the ideal.
As a Ranger, I don't really want to rely on a health bonus so that I can shoot it out with my targets. I would like to use my Ranger skills to augment my combat abilities. I can mask scent or camo so I'm not detected, maybe have a nice bonus to cover that helps here as well, hence I should be able to take down targets without being detected. When things go pear shaped then I want to be able to use my traps to control the battle, to keep the target from closing to melee or to keep them state controlled. When things are up the creek then I use my last ability run away...very quickly up hills and down vales!! But when I win the battle, I expect to be able to recover more resources than others...after all I am a master at this sort of thing.
The bottom line unfortunately is that we Rangers are being left out again. However, this time rather than just maintaining our level, this will have the effect of reducing our capabilities. No we are not an out and out combat profession, but our profession relies on combat and hence should improve our combat capabilities, no leave us worse off. If there were any combo that should be able to go out into the wilds alone and stand a chance of not coming back via the cloner, then it should involve the Ranger.
Regards
Tar.

Sage advice...

As pessimistic as I am right now, you make a good point. I don't think we've actually been told yet that "No, rangers will not get the health bonus". The silence from the devs isn't encouraging, but yes there's still time before this goes live.

Agreed, and if they continue to "overlook" the health bar situation, we can always tap them on the should and say "Ahem, if we're getting armour, then where's the corresponding health bonus?".
If this is still the case by May 2nd, then it's freak out time. Just kidding.
I was looking at the skill tree and noticed that they do NOT show the health bonuses that you receive in each box. For example, I have Rifles 1 on TC5 and I now have 1050 health but you can't see that bonus by looking at the skill tree. I would imagine that it will show it in the future but they haven't gotten to that yet. So it would follow that if the Ranger lines do providehealth benefits, it's not possible to see that at the moment.
They currently have the elite professions locked out so we won't be able to confirm it until we are allowed to progress past the starting professions.

I still don't get how Doc's and CM's are FULLY implemented in the Combat Upgrade, while we, with our bonuses to hit, and damage, and defense, are competely ignored.
Because Docs and CMs are a big part of the problem in the current combat system. Buffs, poisons, diseases, etc are currently messing up the game to a very large extent. Large portions of the profession needed changing so they are getting changed. Not to mention that healing is going to be a lot more necessary post CU for high level hunts (without uber buffs and uber armor, damage will actually add up). Ranger skills are not currently detrimental to the game so they are allowed to wait longer for a revamp to make the skills beneficial. It's not fair but there is no way that Doctors and CMs could be completely left out while Rangers were included. So we wait.

How else are we to make credits? That's all that this game will let us sell. Everything else can't be used by other people, and only the Camo kits can be applied to others.
Maybe it's late, so I'm not understanding correctly... but are you suggesting that removing scout requirements from BE would make them need us more? Every BE I've ever known has had a ranger alt or combat/hunting alt, and they still can never find enough hunters to supply them with all the meat they demand. With the added workload of producing stims and buffs, they'll probably be buying even more meat.
As for making credits, Armorsmiths, tailors and architects still need hides & Chefs will still need hides/meat/eggs/milk. All the business we used to get from docs will just end up going to BEs, so I'd expect it to stay the same in that regard.
