Dave, since when did a Ranger ever consider creature level(con color now i guess). I know I never did. This is probaly the resonI died so much and went through 4000 pieces of armor. This frame of thoughtis probably where the Devs are getting their mind set regarding Rangers. They probably said "those Rangers sure are a crazy bunch, they will fight anything, even without buffs, they don't need anything cool like extra life."

Neither did I....

1. It caused a bit of lag when entering cities/area's with lot of critters

2. It's faulty... I mean, kreetles turning up as a red dot???? One shot and they're gone. They're no threat to me or any other Ranger. Spice fiends, thugs and alike turn up yellow, but attack me when I'm in sight (-5000 thug standing, +<dunno how much>townspeople standing). /Con should work the way when something is a threat to you. To me it seems, it only does some math on the critters/npcs and make it a dot, instead of a real comparison towards the person looking at it.

That might change tough with new CU.

OK, so we (Owen) asks them to make Ranger count towards health.

Well that is a let down... especially that means all combat or severely handicapped.
What ever happened to the idea of combat/crafting dabblers? Or entertainer/combat dabblers?

Yes, please. I just posted in the CU discussion thread about this too. It's the first post I've ever made where I've actually been mad about something and brought that to the attention of the Devs. I'm generally optimistic about things/changes and have always sought to find the silver lining in how Ranges are affected. This change, however, offends me.

Why do Docs get a health bonus when they have no combat abilities and they are now lighter on skill points by 28? Come on Devs... wake up and smell coffee. This is ignorant.

Imo they should give you 3k health once you get a mastery in a single elite combat proffesion. That way those who choose to take a non combat proffesion don't get completely screwed over, especially in PvP. If you spend all your SP in combat skills your advantage should be extra abilities and mods not extra HAM. It's like saying you can't have buffs in the current system unless all your SP is spend in combat.

If this stays like this the only people doing PvP will be those with all their SP in combat and the GCW will still be dead

remember when the first few Jedi emerged? How that tipped the scales in PvP if you had a Jedi? THen it went to Uber Loot Pikes, that if you had a good Mind Fire Lance, you couldn't be beat. Then It went to only Jedi Knights can PvP, the rest are just grinders. Now, its gonna be back to the original, only PvP "temploiters" will be able to win. I know as a Ranger, I've never been a very good PvPer, even as a Jedi I'm not. But I dont want to be killed in 2-3 hit by some Uber PvPer and only do 15 damage to him just because I chose to hunt creatures.

Well, the way i see it, you might deal the same amount of damage to him that he deals to you, but his Healthbar will still have 1k left when you're lying dead on the ground...

Well, your health is based on your combat rating, and your combat rating is based on your combat skills. Since we know we aren't getting combat skills, they would have to institue a generic combat rating to increase our health. That would make our con system be wrong all the time (it would make us look more powerful than we will be).

The entire "more health as you get more combat skills" thing is braindead from the getgo. It's a clear effort to undermine the skills based system, in that ALL toons are equal in these basic attributes at all times, and that the skills they gain through experience are what differentiate them, not some magical addition of basic attributes.

Once again, the devs demonstrate they can't deal with what makes SWG different from the cookiecutter MMORPG crap out there, particularly the dumbass elf game.

We're missing the point a little bit here, whether you used con-colours (which is different to creautre-level) or not, it's the thing that makes the difference when weighing a players combat effectiveness against a creatures threat level. (Try equipping and unequipping your weapons and armour next to a bunch of cretures, those con-colours change, and they change for a reason)

So what's the point? The point is that ranger has combat skills (melee defence, ranged defence, creature-to-hit and trapping), but so far, we're not being rewarded with the corresponding health bonus thatother professions get inreturn for similar skills.

If we want to talk about using creature level though ...

Here's a question

Here's the answer to your own question...

I always use /examine on any creature I'm hunting that I am not familiar with. This is why I've not died so much, and why my first suit of hunting armour is still intact! The /examine skill is one of our most useful and under-rated skills.
