*Sighs*

Talk about some memories here. Such great ideas. "Hey, look, here's what is coming for you." Elation begins. Now, eight months later... what have we gotten, maybe ten bullets in the last updates for menial changes? What happened to /track to hunt down a creature? Our new traps? It's disheartening. Maybe, though, just maybe, Rangers will get their day with the next update. Don't hold your breath, though. They may just toss everyone who has a Ranger tag into a museum for little kids to look at and laugh about silly primatives and their high hopes.

Milk like a maniac. Seriously though I've started to work for a chef and few artisans, harvesting what they need. It's not millions but its a living.

9 MONTHS AND STILL WAITING!!!

This is getting silly. 3/4 of a year and the rangers are still waiting for what was promised.

DEVS you need to wake up and play the game.

Maybe if all rangers spamm text in the starports like the wookies did and lagg the servers to hell we might get some attention.

All we want is what we were promised!!

I'm with you. When I first started playing SWG hunting seemed like a challenge - now it's more of a chore for the most part. And for the challenging aspects in the game - the shuttle, the geo cave - even the theme park quests - Ranger is pretty much useless. And nobody really needs camps anymore to heal, what with buffs and armor, you can't use your traps effectiviely for hunting the BIG game (krayts and kimos - 'cept the babies), and oh yeah, I forgot, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET THESE CHANGES!

I worked hard to develop my master ranger - it's a shame that's he so darn useless.

Combat should regain some of the early challenge after the Combat Balance. Rangers are meant to see some changes there as well.

You know, the only advantage to pessimism is that you're probably right more often than not..

Unless you've got it bad for being right, optimism isn't really that bad of an option. Sure, you get disappointed.. but at least disappointment means you had hope in the first place. Can't imagine what it'd be like to play this game if I didn't have hope that the things I dislike will get better.. Hell, can't imagine living life that way, either.

The last sentance Nemo. We where ment to get some stuff 9 months ago, what makes you think the monkeys are going to code stuff that will help the ranger proff when they still havent implemented what they said they would 9 months ago

Well, the recent answer to our question for the 19 questions post:

Thunderheart wrote:

Ranger In August of 2003, Holocron posted in the Ranger forum regarding the lack of uniqness to the Ranger profession. The post stated 'The focus of this post will be on how we are making Ranger different from scout. Ideologically, the ranger is still a "super scout."' This post then went on to list many ways to improve the Ranger profession. Since then we have had only two things implemented (/areatrack and /camo) from that list, and both of those were unintentionally nerfed. /areatrack is nullified by player cities, spawn rates and vehicles; /camo was broken in a patch so that it doesn't work on most NPCs and in general is worse (costs resources and breaks far too easily) than /maskscent, a Scout skill.

What are the plans, if any, to differentiate the Ranger profession from the Scout profession and will this happen in the form of a Revamp or can it be done via minipublishes/hotfixes?

There are many excellent points and the Ranger community has done an great job bringing many great ideas to the development team and the dev team has also been kicking around some ideas also. The plan is to improve their combat usefulness in the CB and address other items on the schedule under the “Correspondent Issues” umbrella. I know the answer will probably be seen as a little vague, but the truth is that we are focused on all of the item’s in JustG’s letter and that’s a huge development effort. We are focused on the things that have the biggest impact on all the players. On the brighter side, we do have a window of opportunity coming up for player correspondent issues and we will take a serious look at what can be done at that time.

WE NEED TO START INVADING FORUMS THAT THE DEVS WATCH SO THAT WE CATCH THEIR ATTENTION WITH THIS. EVERY FORUM THAT HAS A DEV ACTIVELY RESPONDING TO NEEDS TO HAVEA NOTE ABOUT RANGER ISSUES.

Please don't do that. The Devs do know about this. Constantly pestering them about it won't make them more willing to help us. If anything, it could actually hurt our cause.

Interesting thread.

I thought about going ranger for a while. But then I looked at the total points involved beyone scout.

Seems we have the points for about 3.5 or so professions. And Master ranger will take two whole professions, leaving little for combat.

I'm very new, but I do have some ranger...enough for the basic tracking line...and I have come to question whether ranger should cost a whole professon's worth of skill points over and above scout. Seems to me that master scout costs enough that it ought to open ranger to be acquired for free (or maybe 1 sp/box) for so long as master scout is retained.

If the devs won't make rangers really completely helpful, perhaps they can be pursuaded to reduce the cost of the skills. Just a thought. And I don't think many folks would take master scout just to get access to ranger given that it costs a full profession.

What do other folks think?

I'm currently working on Frontiering 4...for the second time; The first time I went Ranger was before the holo bug and I did it for the fun. I confess to catching the dreaded bug and went off and mastered a group of professions; But now I'm back in the Ranger profession again for the pleasure.

BUT so far I have had NO pleasure, since camps are about as usefull as a lighthouse on Tattoine, I have found getting frontiering xp ...to be a real pain; Before I remember people would gladly sit, in awe, in our nice camps.....now I sit in mine alone, with my fishing rod dreaming of better days.

I dont want to be negative in these forums, but the potential to make this an interesting profession is there, I've read some great ideas a lot of them I fully go with.

*Bring back a NEED for people to use our camps.

*PvP & NPC traps .

*Stealth...yep remove the red dot on radar and replace it by a yellow dot in PvP when wearing camo, and out of a certain range of target (to be determined)

* This one people may not like....seriously reduce the harvesting capacities of all scouts..even bring in a "failure" to harvest mode. Most people use scout to acess other professions, but on the trade point of view, I find it difficult to compete with some very low prices for harvested resources being offered by scouts. I'm not suggesting a monopoly on the trade, but to make the difference felt...If people want to trade milk and meat and so on, make them realise they will get more out of it if they become rangers.

There's my two pence.
