That's even more discouraging, thinking that a reader of our fine forum would find something innocent like that offensive. I find deleting the thread offensive to everything I've ever grown up knowing. It's anti-first amendment, it's anti-american, and to me it's flat out unethical. Might as well go out an burn a few books, it's a perfect comparison to deleting threads that may contain new and innovative idea's. I can understand that people are affraid of what they don't understand, but that didn't stop the Combat Upgrade from going forward.

So exactly how do i report a thread? ... there ahve been numerous times where i felt that some threads were out of line. I looked through some of the forums to find a FAQ, but didn't see one.

I'm so happy my post has turned into a 2 page thread. This makes my SWG Forum day.

These are the kinds of posts that get reported. This is not but a gross overreaction, and I am actually shocked that you made this post. I am not sure what idea threads you see getting deleted (I know some have in other forums, but not becuase of the ideas inside, but becuase they have turned to flames), but the only things I see get deleted off the Ranger forum are flames and Trade Forum posts. Oreet's thread (that kinda illuminated this whole controversy) was not very nice IF you didn't understand the inside joke behind it.
One thing you also need to understand, this is technically a private forum (basically, all are, since they are owned by a company) so the powers that be have 100% control over what you can and can't say. Otherwise, NONE of the forums be a nice place to be.

i'll have to be sure to make humor posts a bit more obvious next time. it was a good, legitimate thread informing all of you of the upcoming crafter fix (a MUCH needed one, and i am glad to see come) but i drew everyone's attention to it using humor, that some didn't get as humor (thus being the positive and negative aspect of an "inside joke")

BTW, I am not faulting/blaming you. Almost ALL of my posts get misinterpreted!

i know, and looking back and re-reading my post i can see how someone would take it the wrong way.
but none of that really matters. what matters is that we are finally getting this HUGE, game-breaking bug fixed.
I spent 2 million credits last night on crates of BE tissues, and the day this hotfix goes live my factories will be working overtime to get me all the BE modded Synth Cloth and Reinforced Fiber Panels i can get.

Yeah I edited it a lot before I posted, I'm sure it would've been a lot more controversial the way I had it. Basically Oreet summed it up, it was an informative post, that he made using humor. Some of us work during the day and can't read the forums, and when I get home and have a chance to be behind the computer I play the game. Usually the only time I give myself on the forums is in the morning during breakfast. So informative posts like Oreet's about tailor fixes would've been really helpful since I don't read all the forums like the Mods do.
And I really understand about the forums, "belonging" to a private company, but as has been stated before, an MMO doesn't belong to the company writing it once it's released, it becomes the property of an aggregate of it's players and authors.
Think of the Matrix scene on the engineering level.
"What is control?" the Senator asks Neo.
"If we wanted to we could shut these machines down."
"But then we have to think about what would happen to our air, our water and our heat."
Right now SOE has no more control over SWG than you or I as far as shutting it down. As long as there are a few thousand of us paying our dues, then they still HAVE to keep it running. Can you see the stock price drop if they did something as negligant as just saying, "thanks for the ride, we're shutting down SWG"? Can you say "Class Action?" My point being that sure it's a private forum, but the player base ALLOWS SOE to maintain a certain level of control over the forums to make them useable and basically unoffensive. And this time I disagree with the decision to delete rather than lock the thread.
And I gotta run to work to keep my SWG running, love to continue the debate in about 9 hours Calc.
