Thread: SOE Garva has time to police the forum, Why not help the Profession while you're here.

ok, we got an Orangey-Yellowey name, so we're one step away from a Red Name post.

No joke. With our profession as neglected as it is, OT threads are all we got. We have been getting a lot of locked and deleted threads here lately, which, while off topic, were otherwise harmless. I can think of at least two other forums that need closerpolicing than this one.

/agree while i usually agree with the forum moderatros, and i think they usually do a really good job, i know the Naritus forum has a guy, who i actually like, baiscally posting aqn ad for his new armor shop there... and taking armor orders in the general forums See for yourself
I think something like that thread is much more detrimental to the forums than two small off-topic threads. (especially because i have an alt on naritus and i post my adds in the trade forums where they belong, so how is it fair to any AS there that he can post there while i observe the rules. And if anyone thinks this is a thinly veiled attempt at getting his post deleted... they are right, because he is a competitor. I like the guy, but it's not really fair to other AS's... back to my point)
One of the off-topic threads (oreet's) was really not off topic. It was about the hotfix that will fix BE clothing, which we all use and need and we have a keen interest in. Just because it references a silly feud that we have with the tailor's doesn't mean any of us for one second thought that the devs like tailors more than us, on the contrary... I think we all agree they hate us equally (just kidding... this is a joke. I don't honestly believe the devs hate us)

To be fair, you can't expect GarVa to know about all theinside jokes that exist on these forums. Without knowing the playful history between Tailors and Rangers, that thread probably does come across as being one of those "the devs love them more than me" threads. While it would be nice for the mods to be more familiar with the community they police, there are a lot more of us than them.

Nice.
The rule of thumb is, it you think a thread is trolling, or out of place, report it. If your thread gets locked or deleted, it's becuase someone else reported it, and the mods decided it was inappropraite.
Correct

The mods don't
generally do anything about a thread until it gets reported. THey don't
cruise the forums looking for someone to piss off. They have a LOT of
posts to look at every day (thousands), and they can't catch every bad
post.
