Thread: From Novice to Master How to Become a Master Ranger v. 2.0
for miller:
Why become a Master Ranger? Tracking as i see it has the only benefits... and they aren't very good ones.
Ummm have you seen the High end ranger camps. They rule. I love my field base and cannot wait till I get my high tech camp they just look real cool. Not to mention really usefull when your out in middle of no where on any planet.
If they actually implement the new traps, those will make trapping way cool. But yeah since camo kinda blows atm, why bother with that!

Well I just recently got the game and the salesman at the comp store talked me into getting the prima guide .. Well i read it and it gave me a base of what the professions were it was no where near the things mentioned in your guide here Deltaxi65. Good jobe mate ...your scout guide helped me make master scout and im sure i will benifit greatly from this ranger guide as i work my way up the tree.

Delta, thanks for this excellent guide which will no doubt help me out as I'm advancing (once I get Ranger... iccch survival xp). I'm pretty sure that the Prima guide is super outdated and doesn't go into anywhere near this much detail. Anyway, I don't see the point in flaming Delta, guys. This was an excellent post, and I'm very happy that he was willing to take the time to write this up. Although it's already a little outdated since the patch (hunting with maskscent). But, oh well. It's still totally awesome. Thanks again Delta.

I like the guide...and Remy is a blowhard from what I see.
His comment that Mask Scent is only 45% effective...is garbage.
I was on Dath last night....Wandered all over just exploring. Was constantly running across MANY aggro beasts...The only thing that actually broke my mask scent was an Ancient Rancor of some type...
Was getting constantly 250 xp from passing Bull Rancor and 180 from others...Baz Nitches never broke mask.
I had only 4 creatures break the scent (Not counting the Night Sister's that hate my guts (-5000 faction with them) They attack me on sight anyway. Singing Mountain clan love me (almost +5000 faction with them...they ignore me just like the Desert Demons on Tat...Have +5000 with them too) All creatures that broke Mask Scent were CL 75+. Ones that I couldnever DREAM about coming close too.
I'm not a Master ranger...but I am enjoying it.
I took Ranger mainly for the area track command to aid me with Creature Handler...But I am enjoying it so much....that I am concidering changing my plans to Master Ranger/Master CH...But I will still need some fighting sills...
Remy,
That is the saddest thing I've ever seen. I hope this swg will wear off for you so that you can live a life instead of RP-ing every hour of the day.
Delta,
Excellent job! You've presented the information in an easy-to-absorb, easy-to-execute fashion, which is nice for those of us 30-somethings who can't afford to sit on our duffs all day playing SWG. I've loved the idea of being a Ranger from day one and information like this helps with the practical piece. Thanks!!
Aconcern/question:
In PART 2: TACTICS, #2 you allude to "new monkey making opportunities". I have been researching and adventuring for days and have yet to discover the secrets to makingmonkeys.I would love to start. Point me in the right direction? ![]()
I can see it now ::distant look:: Darth Moha and the Monkey Brigade. Muwhahahahaha!!
Again, thanks, even though I technically qualify as a red-headed stepchild by your definition. ![]()

DeltaXi65 Thank you for this post.
I'm currenlt doing the "What novice prof I should give up for SP dance" and you're guide confirmed my leanings.
Iron,
I was dismayed to learn the other day when talking to some of the Devs that EVERYONE knows about my little typo about monkey making opportunities, and I was ribbed by at least three of them on it. ![]()
I'll NEVER live that down. ![]()

-(haha post screwed up) That was weird.....
BTW, great post here. I had no idea fishing gave XP that will help me in the dead end skill levels of survival.
B,
That is one hell of a guide. I also have the Prima strategy guide and what you posted is nothing like what is in the book. The book isbasically worthless and I'm abit ashamed that I spent money on it.
I don't know what Remey's agenda is, but he really seems to have it in for ya. I must also commend you on your handling of the flamer. Very mature and professional.
Keep up the good work. ![]()
