This is a great post and has many great tips, but there is a question i feel you need to ask yourself. Why become a Master Ranger? Tracking as i see it has the only benefits... and they aren't very good ones. Although we can always make ourselves feel better because we know we got it good compared to SLs.

As a current Novice Squad Leader toying with the idea of becoming a Ranger (I'm also currently a Master Scout) I can appreciate that statement. You definately do not have it nearly as bad as us SLs.

Each and every Character has not used a SINGLE EXPLOIT to get where they are. In fact, I am sure that some of you can blame ME for reporting MANY, MANY of the exploits in the game!

You may have more posts than I do (don't break your arm patting yourself on the back there, pal), but obviously, I make mention to those few things that bother me about my favourite profession (i.e., Rangers), and because I do not spend all of my time on these bloody forums,I have a helluva lot of IN-GAME knowledge. So when I post something, I am blowing off steam, much like the rest of you. And if some of my posts get recognition from the DEV's, brilliant. I no longer have the direct contact that I did back in Beta 1 and Beta 2. So I will vent here. I apologize if you do not like it, you have the option of skipping over my post. I've read everything you have posted, and you have a following going for you, well done. It still does not mean that I am incorrect in my posts. Perhaps you should go back and read some of the things you've written?

Oh, By the way-

Try testing you Cammo Kits on High-End Planets against NPC's as well as Creatures. I still had Cammo kits made with Flora as well as the new cammo kits without. I was on the Bloodfinn Server at the time.

90% failure against NPC's whilst either Walking, Crawling and Running on Endor and Dothamir. With BOTH kits.

Mask Scent is now working at about a 45% failure rating on the same planets against agressive Critters.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the /conceal ability will be use most religiously on High Level planets, more so than on Tatooine or Naboo.

Conventional wisdom would tell me that I shouldn't feed the trolls, but I just want to respond to what you've written.

Where have I ever called you whiny? Prior to your trashing of my guide and accusation of plagarism, I had responded to ONE - only ONE - post that you wrote, and that was the one you quoted to blast me with. So I'm not sure why you're attacking me here. I didn't come to the defense of the people who attacked you, nor did I take part. I said I wasn't going to get into what you said because, frankly, I agreed with some of it. What I didn't agree with was your take on the conceal kits. I don't flame or attack anyone on these boards, nor have i EVER claimed that I am the be all and end all of knowledge about SWG, SW, the Scout or the Ranger professions. I come to these boards for three reasons - 1.) It's my responsibility, as a Correspondent, to be knowledgable about my profession and be able to advocate on behalf of the Scout community their opinions about their profession and how they think it should work, 2.) Because I want to expand my knowledge of the profession and the game in general and 3.) Because I want to give back to the Scouting and Rangering community. That's why I write these guides (that and because I love writing.) So to have you come on here and attack me personally for no reason I can think of - I just don't understand it and I don't think its very fair. Like I said before, whatever I did to earn your disrespect, I apologize. I certainly don't understand how you can say what I wrote was plagaristic, as half of what I wrote about wasn't in the game when Prima's guide was written. That comment really got to me, Remy.

Now, on the issue of conceal, since you brought that up in. I'm not arguing that conceal is working the way it should be - my views on Conceal should be well known. I feel that it shouldn't break when you enter combat. It should last for a long time. For a Ranger, using it on himself, it should function like it did when mask scent was "broken" and was working too good for all of us. That's how I want it to work, and that's what I hope N'Raas is lobbying for.

I'm amazed at the number of professions that you've mastered. That's great work, and you must be a veritable font of information for those professions. So what I would hope - in fact, what I would really like to see - is that you stop attacking me, stop attacking the problems that exist within the professions that you have Mastered and instead try and do what I do - use the knowledge you have gained to help other players succeed where they want to. When people have questions, answer them. When people need advice, give it to them. Don't flame them because you think you know more. Be a mentor, not an elite. If there is anything you see in my guides that you think is wrong, or misleading, help me rewrite it. If you've got tips that helped you move up so fast, let me know - post them here - and I'll add them to the next version.

N'Raas is here to pass your concerns and new ideas on to the Devs. And there's a way to do that. I believe that he and I have been successful in getting attention on the many issues that have faced our communities because we have been constructive in our conversations with the Devs. Mask scent has gotten tweaked in every major patch and publish since the game started - and I like to think that's partially because of our advocacy (the only thing we didn't have a say in was the timer that was added during the second week).

Someone like you - with a lot of time to write, and lots of knowledge - should be a pillar of the community, not someone people give one stars to and dread hearing from. I hope that you will take what I've said here objectively, and not get offended. I don't mean to offend - I just don't understand what I did to push your buttons so hard.

Thanks for a well articulated, well written, thought out, lucid guide on how to become a Master Ranger. I appreciate the work that you put into it, and as a result will probably change my playstyle a bit.

If someone can't appreciate what you've done - if not for content, then for the time and effort it must have taken, then they probably can't appreciate a lot of things. Don't let it get to you.

For what it's worth, i think you're one of the best correspondents going.
