Yeah.. and stealth was impossible except for riflemen and powers jedi

It all comes down to what the devs want to do with/for ranger.

If anything I suppose it could have something to do with the spawn system; i.e. no trees are falling unless you are within range to hear it.

Meaning the spawn zone is limited to roughly 500m radius, so any additional range on track would be excessive.

What might, and I stress might, be worthwhile would be to forage animal droppings

Don't laugh, but say it would work a bit like the legendary /track we were never deemed worthy off.

you /forage and find somedroppings, and judging by freshness/flavor of the stuff you can track down some new ELITEcreatures with some very juicy drops, pun intended, that could have any number of uses.Naturally this creature never spawn wild, and can only be tracked by a ranger that successfully completed a series of foraging broken twigs and yummy poo, that may in addition be used to amplify our camo kits as an optional ingredient during crafting

Seeing as the manhunting bounty hunter gets tabs on human players, it's only fair we as the masters of animal prey get our own prime beef too.

Interesting idea, Landorien. That would require too much work though. Us rangers are not high-priority enough for that.

Maybe this is where the critical hit bonus should be, instead of in trap form like I posted to Phenix's thread. You're a ranger, out in the wilderness. Before you enter combat, you look around, and then you see it. That special mushroom that lets you see through time and space. You wolf it down, and for the next five or ten minutes, you're on the six demon bag. You can see things no one else can see, do things no one else can do. You know exactly wherepeople and things (hell, even places)need to be shot the most.

Failing that, I wouldn't mind seeing some foraged tasty give me a higherresistance to states for a short (but worthwhile) duration. A self-administered anti-stinkbomb.

Rangery and no toes stepped on. Not that I care, butnevertheless.

There should be parts to ranger that do not require you to be in combat. Part that require you to just kick back in camp or rummage around in the wilderness for a bit. Thats what being a ranger is all about, being masters of the outdoors and at home in such an environment.

I'd like to see Semi-permanent camps. Toss in resources like a maintenence pool.

Another point I would like to make, is the addition of some forageable items that are not necessarily edible. Metal Springs could be foraged that enhance the potential of Wire Mesh traps, Animal Teeth could be foraged and enhance Bone Spur traps, Glowing Mushrooms could be foraged to enhance the blinding state of some traps, etc. This would, of course, be an optional component in the crafting stage of the trap, and could not be done using a factory.

lol, id spend a lot more time foraging if that happened.

So, we have some suggestions, we have the support of the majority(of people that posted), are we going to do something about this?

We supported removing foraging from the game, right?

Um, no. Removing foraging would pointless, as well as an invitation for the devs to remove even more skills that could easily be fixed. Would you like to allow them to be completely lazy instead of taking feedback from their customers and doing something about it?

Well, as a new Ranger, I need to ask, what do we need to do? Is Owen and/or Paks seeing this enough, or should we post somewhere else or what?

I am in the camp against a revamp, but for small discrete changes. If we could get a small, relatively should-be-easy-to-code change actually accomplished, well hell. That'd be enough for me, at least for a good long time. Because then I knew someone somewhere cared about us.

This is the best place for Paks (well, maybe the Scout Forum for Paks) and Owen to see anything we want them to. The read this forum 24 hours a day, and are constantly hitting refresh to read any new threads. Well, I might be exaggerating a bit, but this is the best place for them to see stuff .

We see them man, i love talks about ranger development, esepcially when survival talk is involved. Us seeing it though does not mean its going to hit live or infact devs are going to like it.

What ive been trying to do for a long time (before the dev team moved offices and tiggs went on holiday) was get a ranger concept thread up in the concept boards and in the corr development boards so i can start compiling all the ideas we have and showing the devs all the avenues. Now Tiggs is back we will have a better chance of getting that done but who knows.
