Thread: Kash. Camo Kits on TC now
Ok, this is total crap. Once again the devs have dumped on us and we can't do a thing about it.
Ok, Joe Artisan can now "buy" camo kits and use them without us being around. Granted, the bio-eng clothing won't help, as he has no innate abilities to camo. Fact is, I don't see how it would work period, as the usefullness of the kits is related to the Rangers (appliers) camo abilities. Bet we don't get XP for kits we make and sell either.
Seems the devs are now pandering to the Artisans in an attempt to win them back. Yeah, a lot of them are mad they get killed every time they go to check harvestors. Solution = bodyguards or put the freaking harvestors in a safe place, not on Dath you morons.
Oh well, guess plan B is now in effect. I will pile up mass amounts of FS, drop Ranger once Luck is done, stack in Carbineer, make more FS and go Jedi.
That or go to WOW.

I think this is a very poorly thought out implementation on the part of the devs. For those of us who cointinue to keep Master Ranger, we have 140 skill points spent to get the best camo mods and the ability to craft camo for probably the single most difficult planet (Dathomir).
This crafting also requires different unique named resouces for each planet, so it's not like we can chunk thousands of units of hide, meat or bone through our recyclers and make some nice big stacks ofgeneric resources to craft camo kits - we need to actually go to each planet, spend time harvesting the various resouces needed, and then spend time crafting the camo (either packs on the fly, orin factory runs in you have enough materials)
For this time and investment, we clearly earn the right to camo ourselves, and to ALSO be able to camo others. This ability has been in the game as long as I've been playing (I can't speak to "day 1" since I started only last year), and I know many of us loved to do the "Go to Dath, camo everyone as they run by to the Village, watch the XP roll in" trick. Lots of fun. I've been known to whip up a camo pack if I had the ingredients and slap camo on just about anyone that asked nicely without a moment of hesitation.
I do not understand how a crafter with 0 points invested in any kind of skill that would even HINT at being able to concel themselves is now going to have the ability to take a camo kit that it cost me 140sp to even gain the ability to MAKE it + the time to go out and harvest all the various organics required + the time to actually craft it + any cost if I've purchased a crafting machine and factory to make my own factory runs ... and camo themselves in ANY meaningful manner. And no, I don't agree that you should be able to slap on clothes that will now magically make you much better at applying camo so you're now magically almost as good as a Master Ranger who spends 140sp to learn how to do with without you spending a single skillpoint. I guess there is precedent (gee, how does a shirt make you less likely to get knocked down or let you run 5x faster), but this is simply ridiculous.
I can almost guarantee this came from that brainstorm on the Artisan board that Owen pointed out to us the other day, where someone was recommending that Artisans get some kind of agro-repelling vest or something. Instead of the devs pointing out that Rangers can make and apply camo TO them which addresses the issue, they have decided to just GIVE them our camo. Making one of the few remaining WORKING abilities we have of any value again almost worthless since now anyone with 0 SP invested can camo themselves. It used to take Master Scout + 11 SP just to earn the ability to APPLY camo (Wayfaring 1). Now it apparently takes... well, nothing.
A sad, sad day indeed.
And BTW who honestly that only crafters/entertainers will be buying them? even if they have a minute chance of increasing the grind efficiency of the Jedi wanabees, they will try to get hold of them. and the same goes for serious PvPers. And faction grinders (rebel/imperial NPC's will still attack even if grey con) will wand them to.
Who will not use an advantage that if offered them at no skill point cost, besides a ranger that is?

"don't sell them" is not a proper way to respond, and will not change anything. There will always be at least one person selling them, just like there will always be one person undercutting prices in a crafting profession. (price fixing do not work for the same reason)

True, but there is nothing more an individual can do. We just have to rely on our coors and devs to do the job of fixing this.
I currently charge about 25k per crate of camo kits. I think that is about to double... at least.

from now on im going to carry a 1 camo kit in my invintory for each planet at all times when a person asks me to give them camo kit schem or whatever im gonna conceal them and walk off.
Yep, this Ranger is not getting behind selling camo kits. Its not just gonna be artisans wanting this too. Everybody will want to try and use these.
Also, I was thinking bout someone said about our TN giving us Rifleman a benefit. Theres not much point now really of going prone. I do that and /cover doesnt work. I have yet to get snipershot to work ever... I dont get more accurate or more damage. Most things straight out aggro anyway... So, I just stand and tank myself.
After all I'm dumbfounded, yet it did not came as a surprise.
Since the CU I have NOT been around doing ANY ranger stuff because I'm simply unable to act as MRanger/MCH (read about it in CH forum as well, I made new screenshot of my pets AFTER conversion and will provide an url later).
This is just the final nail to the deathcoffin of the Ranger Profession.
Just pull the plug and don't make us suffer any longer.
As I said before, on numerous ocasions, the account being canceled more and more seems to go stay that way as I have NO intention whatsoever to ever give up Ranger or CH.
At this moment I just can't care anymore.

Well that depends... are we talking about the devs implementing the good ideas for rangers, giving them to other professions?

This had best get our revamp in before Bounty Hunters and Smugglers like GreenMarine stated at the Player Breakfast.
I will not be doing anything related to Ranger for anyone until this issue is resolved. Can we even get a red name in here? Other professions do, on a regular basis might I add.
