Thread: Kash. Camo Kits on TC now

Rangers number one issue is we are not unique, so what do the devs do? Hand out what semi-unique skill we have left. Im kind of expecting:


Publish 18:


  • Areatracking is now usable by anyone but can only scan to a range of 450m. Rangers will still have their increased tracking range. To use areatrack you must use the /areatrack command and select the tracking option of our choice (creature/npc/pc).

  • None scouts can now harvestorganic resources from a creature.To offset this,master rangers can now harvest bone too.

  • Traps are now level certified so you now none scouts/rangers can use traps.

  • Camps have been moved to entertainer for them to entertain when out on hunts.

  • Forage is now only a visual animation, it no longer provides pathetically low powered buff items.

Id list more but i was trying my hardest to think of something that rangers can actually do.



Perhaps ill be wrong and this publish will be a blessing, well when that happens ill stand up and admit i got it wrong but from where im looking we are going from a personal concealment specialist class to a damn crafter class. Great stuff.

Sorry, I just cant get behind handing over camo kits to other people.

I can get at least +51 with shirt, pants and jacket and another +5 the pack with the mods. Now, Camo CA and AA will be in demand by crafters. After a while they will just have big ole nice suits of camo mods to wear out and just be happy as clams.

Terrain negotiaion can now be made into BE clothes. Camo kits can be used by anyone now. Anyone with novice scout, veghash and a good droid can harvest a decent amount. Camps are useless. I expect to have our one good trap nerfed soon so we can sit in our camps and sell camo kits.

Oh, was that in the modular camp idea? A vendor droid in camp? lol

I'm sorry but its utter BS. With these kinds of decisions being made I expect the Ranger revamp to be an utter fiasco. They will totally redo our profession into some lame rendition of a Yogi the bear park ranger.

Too bad that there are too few of us complaining to make a difference. I expect we will get ignored as usual.

Tiggs: Rangers arent too happy with recent changes.
Dev: Screw em. They only amount to less than one percent of the game professions. We can ignore them for another year I would think.

We have been completely replaced, and here is the documentation to prove it







  • Camo:

Riflemen Cover, Jedi Force Cloak, anyone with a Ranger buddy to make 'em for them



  • Mask Scent:

See above



  • Creature Harvesting:

Harvesting droids, packs oflow-level scouts with Veghash, creature-harvesting attachments



  • Rescue:

"Pass-through assist." See tuesday's tips for this description.



  • Traps:

Every profession getting "mezzing" and"snaring" effects.



  • Camps:

Pfft, no one gets wounded anymore, and that's all they are good for anyways.



  • Terrain Negotiation:

Attachments, BE tissues, Chef Food: Travel Biscuit, other professions with the same modifier.



  • Creature Knowledge:

Everyone sees the same f'ing things now!



  • Creature to-Hit bonus:

Chef Food: Gralynin Juice



  • Creature to-damage bonus:

+5? That's not even worth mentioning anymore.





Why do we even bother anymore? Seriously. Consider this list. This is a problem.

And, lets see this again shall we? From the full set of notes.







  • As a player becomes higher in level than an NPC or creature, the aggro radius vs. the AI becomes smaller. A gray con will never aggro. The exception to this is Imperial and Rebel NPC enemies who will still have a full aggro radius.



  • Added fly-text over creatures and NPCs when players are in the aggro radius of the AI in cases when the creature/NPC sees you re-capacitate (get up after being incapacitated, but not dead yet). This means you have a small amount of time to get away from the creature or NPC to prevent re-aggro.



  • Creature damage ranges are now larger but average damage done remains the same. This was done to help tankers take less damage on average than the other professions so they may better fulfill their role in combat.



  • Camouflage Kits are now usable by non-Rangers. Any player may now self-apply a camouflage kit to gain a small conceal buff. This buff is less effective than if a Ranger had applied the camouflage, but it should aid crafters in avoiding the unwanted attention of critters near their installations. Also, camouflage kits are now usable from the button bar.



  • Krayt Dragons have had their difficulty increased.



  • A recipe for traveling Kashyyyk with enhanced stealth has been devised. See Achonnko in the Rryatt Trail for more details.



  • The "Cover" command should work correctly now.
    A player that moves during a command warm-up will get a message saying the command has been canceled, and the warm-up timer will be removed.






They are trying to make us unnecessary. Who is going to do something about this? I wish JB was still the Scout correspondent.



This is the most depressed I have felt in a long while. I think I will make a list of convictions and post them until my alt account gets banned.

I will be d@mned if any other thread in this forum gets started, because this is a problem that will break our profession. We are already pointless, but now we are useless as well.



Why is it when other professions whine they get what they want?

Something else about this that kills me.


Mask Scent requirement, works only on creatures: Scout 2000, 20 skillpoints.


Camo requirements, works on NPCs and creatures: None.

Okay, so Ranger has the following *useful* advantages over being just a scout:



More harvesting.


Tracking PCs/NPCs.


Longer lasting Burst Run.



Aaaand that's it. Think about it. Our traps don't work. We have BIG camps that don't do anything more than the little ones, really, and who needs those either (other than as a workaround for the bugged Rifle specials).


Faster Crawl Speed (also only useful for Riflepeople)? Well heck - get Squad Leader instead and give it to the whole group, or wow! lookatthat! Buy a shirt that gives you all you need!



Is it just me or is Ranger so nerfed at the moment that if they just shoved those three things from above into the scout tree as a Master Scout our profession would no longer be needed at all???



Why can't they see how terribly wrong this is??



Is this what they're planning???

Yeah, I gotta say I really don't understand why they're doing this.... well, I can understand "why" (pure crafters can get killed by a baby durni), butI don't understand why they're taking this away from rangers. Did they just not think it through? All I can say is be glad it's still in testing and hopefully it won't make it to the live servers...

Well at least the ranger revamp will be able to start from scratch. And it is easier to build something new then to repair something old right ?

You know, this has beena rather bizarre day...


Not only is an infamous former dictator being shown on the holonet in his tighty whitey hawtpants..., but the evil empire is now enabling anyone and his durni to use our coloring paint pots.


...uhhhh... nevermind, I am building a cave and going to fill it with treasures and riches that will entice all kinds of game devs, then when they enter into the main treasure room chamber I will wake up the sleeping AncientKrayt Dragon! BOO YAH!
