Currently Master Ranger, Master Scout
Rifleman 1,1,0,0 (sniping and conceal) + Ranged Support 4 (supression fire is worth it)
Creature Handler 1,2,1,1
Novice Artisan(for surveying 50m at a time (ugh) and checking where I'm at for polymers and metals)

I've had in the past: artisan 4,1,0,4 medic 3,3,3,3 entertainer 0,0,3,3 (now I check the cantina on Lok before deciding whether or not to clone... oh wait, my clone is still stored there. I rarely clone anywhere else)

If I can find a surveyor willing to travel to Lok and Dantooine when the resources shift, I'll consider dropping artisan since it's a pain with only novice to survey. Do you have to have artisan to craft your own camps and traps? Bah! for 100 credits to retrain novice, I think I'll try that today.

I use a pet mostly for soloing to compliment the fact that as Rifleman I suck at point-blank. I die a lot less now and can last a lot longer witout just being out sighseeing and not hunting hides. Right now I have: Plains Tusk Cat (General Day-to-Day), Greater Sludge Panther (always accompanies me to Lok), and a leviasquall (still a baby). I was wanting magagement 3 so I could have out 2 of them, but I may get rid of magagement and empaty (though by the name "empathy" it just sounds like something a ranger should naturally have a lot of). I'm keeping at-least the other two brances because you have to have those 2 branches to even use a lowly level 16 plains tusk cat (a dappled gualama just isn't the pet for me). I want rangers to get the command "retreive" (must be Novice CH/Ranger to train the command) to have the pet drag the corpse of %TT to me. I'd reaaly like to get the best dog-type creature I can go with... since when does a cat ever listen in RL?
Shoot! I just realized if I saved my CHXP for management 2 I can still get stored pets +2 and drop training2 then at CM3 have 2 pets out. I'm going to have to rethink this part but so far looks like CH 1,2,0,3 at this point is my goal.

I want to pick up more in the rifleman line to take down those critters faster that are attaking my poor pet so I don't have to wait so long for it to regen since I dropped novice medic a long time ago. Concealment in the Rifleman tree just seems to fit perfect with the whole concept of a ranger to me. So goal here is Rifleman 4,4,0,0

Imagine this scenario: Bothan Master Ranger /concel and /maskcent turned on
(is there any possibility of detection anyway at this point?). Go setup your tripwires and a lure trap on the near side of the tripwire. Setup your hunting blind at 60m from the traps. /Prone. Thrown-traps are out, than might give away your position. Using Concealed-shot or whatever it is at concealment 4 taking down a whole herd of banthas solo without ever being seen. To avoid the already super low chance of being seen by the nearby aggressives but still being able to get that quality hide, you send the pet in to retreive the corpses and if he happens to get agroed on (which I rarely if ever see pets draw agro without telling them to attack), then you stand a good chance of either scaring away the agros with warning-shot or taking them down all-together.

Oh, and add rifle crawl speed to our already lightning-fast crawl speed 8)

Thinking concealment and special abilities now... our creature to-hit bonuses may make-up for lack of aiming ability. Thinking maybe 2,2,0,2 in rifleman minimum and doing some trade-offs with CH (either CM4 or drop some of the CH for more in rifleman).

Depending on how well Ranger + Rifleman flushes out in solo situations after all the changes, I might drop CH for more rifleman or to get back survey4.

Alternate scenario for me now is
Surveyor (artisan 0,0,0,4)
Master Ranger
Rifleman 2,2,0,4
That leaves me with exactly 0 skillpoints left and a teeny tiny pet to do my retreiving (I still think Master Ranger should get +something over other non-CH's for pets... we do have more creature knowledge than anyone... just let me have that nabooian domesticated tusk cat... it's "domesticated" for crying out loud but as non-CH I can't have one? Nah, I want my wild tusk - it fits my character more and is smaller)

currently i'm ranger 3/1/3/4, pistoleer 2/3/3/2, artisan 4,4,1,1

artisan going bye-bye soon just enough points for ranger and pistoleer.

then i'll get bored with pistols and pickup rifle.

then get bored with rangering probably get chef / carbineer

sounds like fun to me.

Master Ranger

Master Pistoleer

Novice Medic

Novice Artisan with a bit of surveying so I can still place my HMI's and have a decent cash flow.

Out of points.

Verena, how is it possible you have all those professions?

I just wrote a thread asking this same question... That will teach me to look beforeI post!

Her is my breakout:

Master Scout

Artisan: 4,3,1,4 - I am thinking of dropping Dom. Arts and that useless Bussiness one.

Medic: Novice Medic - don't need anything else right now.

Marksman: 2,2,4,4 - I think I will drop the rifle line all together... never use it with my laser Cbine skills. Maybe Pistol too.

Carbineer: Novice. Working on that 175000 (!) xp points to get ONE o the boxes.

Ranger: 1,1,1,1

Now, here's a dumb question: If I drop Scout, will I lose Ranger? It seems to me that the obvious answer is 'yes', but stranger things have happened in this game!

Right now I have 19 pts left... I want master Rager, so something has to go. Any suggestions?

you can't drop scout without losing ranger.

also if you're master ranger and master carbineer / rifle / pistoleer you will have 246 skill points taken up.

My current plan is Master Ranger, Master Rifleman and Ranged Weapons support Spec. This, unfortunately, leaves me with 4 points left over.. not enough even to pick up a backup weapon or medic.

In retrospect I should have gone with a melee profession, instead.. but I'm too far into rifle to dump it now.

Fatcat, you might consider what I'm doing:

Master Ranger, Master Rifleman, Expert Pistol, Expert Ranged Weapons Support, 250 pts.

Gives you some moderate pistol ability, bodyshot2, and Warning Shot, which so far have been enough to either finish off or warn away critters that aren't quite dead by the time they get to me. I'm not yet convinced that Suppression Fire (Ranged Support 4) is worth the 5 skill points for me, and this template doesn't leave me with unused skill points sitting around.

I'm currently master ranger, But just decided about 1 week ago to dump teras-kasi and go with pistoleer. I feel this works better with Ranger at least for now. I also now feel like i'm part of the Star Wars universe, instead of recreating my monk from Everquest.I also have novice entertainer and Music 1.

I'm a DE/Ranger/Rifleman, but if I'm going to master both DE and Ranger I'll have to drop Rifelman and go down to rifle I which gives me mindshot1 and DL20ta. Question is can you be an effective ranger w/o good combat? I might only half master either DE or Ranger and keep Sniping II for HS3. Advice?
