Thread: The Outdoorsman...
Wow man if you weren't a dosh I'd kiss you. Sorta makes me want to hit the other forums with a "My Correspondant could skin your Correspondant" post.
Then again that is not very Ranger-like and their seem to be an awful lot of Entertainer Correspondants running around.
Anyway, top notch Nrass, really top notch!
Hey,
I loved your document. If even half of what is in there is implemented the Ranger proffesion will be on its way to where it belongs. I may have one more thing to add. Its a skill that they have added, but not thought of the in the way it could be implemented for Rangers. It is Creature Damage Mitigation. It would be added in the Hunting Line and implemented just as it is in the other proffesions.

"Was the idea of some sort of burst swim ability still alive somewhere? Or burst run not actually ending when we hit water?"
Thank you... I will add a paragraph for that.
"I thought that we had a good chance at geting our mounts to actually mimic our terrain negotiation abilities"
I will think on that. ![]()
"It is Creature Damage Mitigation."
Damage Mitigation eh? Hmmm...
Currently I have a Dodge bonus request in the proposal, and reason it out by suggesting outdoorsman understand how a creature will act and can react before getting hit.
How would I reason out that a hunter can take less punishment when we are hit?
I think the ranger community is unique.
Everyone seems to be united in helping each other develope the profession and submit ideas, its a great group to be a part of and thats amplified by a great correspondent who shares our desires and advances on them.
This forum is nothing like the other profession forums i read.
"If the /change tender command actually makes the new person the owner it might be a way for the lower skilled rangers and scouts to gain xp faster then they are meant to."
Actually, after reading aprevious post regarding this... I have had to revise the idea a little.
The /changeTender does not remove the Ranger from being the owner of the camp. That way he can't go around and make another camp and give it to someone else.
Rather it simply defines who needs to staynear the camp to keep it active.
As for the experience... I think that would still go to the camp owner.
"This way the tender could still explore to a degree (within the 500m radius) but is aware of how far they are from the camp so accidental camp disbands arnt common."
Excellent idea.

(I've been lurking a lot...)
Ok, I read it again and I have a couple of comments/questions:
1. If we select a target from the area track screen, will we be able to get a waypoint to the targets last known location?
2. I believe that a first strike on a creature that you put to sleep should be more powerfull then the regular attacks.
3.If you put a herd to sleep with the AOE tranqualiser, will they all awake if you attack one of them, or only the one being attacked?
4. a) When capturing a creature to bring to a CH for taming, does the level of the creature matter? Will more powerfull babies be harder to trap? Should this trapping skill become more powerfull as the ranger climbs the trapping tree? Perhaps the ranger can build a more powerfull cage that can actually hold the tougher critters
b)Should we be able to offer a caged creature to someones vendor? Then they can retrieve it and tame it when they're around?
5) I don't see much of a purpose with the /HIDE command. The inability to attack someone after unhiding for 15 seconds, is what kills it for me. If I'm going to hide, then I will hide when I see danger.. if I see the danger, then the danger can very well see me as well.. It seems that an enemy will be able to TAB to me and shoot before I can lay prone and apply the /HIDE command. And I'm assuming that once in combat, we cannot hide. If there was no delay after I unhid, then I can see how this would be usefull for ambushes and such.
6) Perhaps the Creature Defensive Field module should include an adhesive mesh effect on any creature that is silly enough to enter its borders.
Ok, I think that does it for me.. I appologize is I should've split up these comments in the other forums, but this was just much easier to get across in one big post.
"If we select a target from the area track screen, will we be able to get a waypoint to the targets last known location?"
I believe JBMat will cover this one. ![]()
"2. I believe that a first strike on a creature that you put to sleep should be more powerfull then the regular attacks."
Interesting.
"3.If you put a herd to sleep with the AOE tranqualiser, will they all awake if you attack one of them, or only the one being attacked?"
Don't know... Anyone think that social assistance should break sleep? Would it be too powerful if it did not?
"When capturing a creature to bring to a CH for taming, does the level of the creature matter? Will more powerfull babies be harder to trap?"
Yes I think higher CL babies would be more difficult to capture, based on the Ranger's trapping skill.
"Should we be able to offer a caged creature to someones vendor? Then they can retrieve it and tame it when they're around?"
I don't think you can vendor items that go into the datapad.
"I don't see much of a purpose with the /HIDE command."
Good point. My intent is to reduce the invisibility aspect to a recon system. Something where a player would sit and observe a location for a certain time and rely commands to other combatants.
"Perhaps the Creature Defensive Field module should include an adhesive mesh effect"
Cool idea. ![]()
