Fred: I have been trapping my butt off on TC for days now, no problem... Best part.. i can throw traps in caves and such now! WHOOOT!!

Calc: I was going to get Jenden to make me a couple of droids, one maxed out with harvesting and now perhaps a maxed out trapper. Just to see what the diff is when you harvest. Is the droid you are using maxed on harvesting modules? I was thinking of a probot with 5 of them in it.

I will be able to get my hands on both maxed droids when i can get on TC again...probably tomorrow morning.

If they would just make the harvest droid like a 110 med rating (110 harvesting rating), I would buy one in an heartbeat. Thanks, Calc, for getting more stacks in the trap launcher. How many stacks can it hold?

I have heard they allowed mutliple stacks now, and I will try things out in the morning (sorry, I got abstracted by that darn Corvette).

I'm also a 0/4/2/3 CH, and use a high-kinetic BE critter to tank for me when hunting solo. I generally group with my pet, in order to keep an eye on its HAM, but to my detriment as the 65% rule is kicked in. I have enough CH to have a pet and droid both out, so what I would like to do is be grouped with my critter, but not group in the droid. The droid could then harvest at my 100% rating, while my critter and I work over the lair. Has anyone who's been on TC tried a similar scenario? Thanks!

Very interesting! That is certainly a way to look at it...hmm....I can give this a try tomorrow morning .

ImpSlave: Anyone can have 1 droid out and 1 faction pet out AND one creature pet out. CH levels have no effect on this. CH levels only come into play when you want mroe than one creature pet at a time. Used to be different, I hear, but this is how it is now.

I'm gonna weigh in on the droids 'cause I like sharing my opinion. Seems to me that how they should do this is about like this: The harvesting droid should have 'novice scout' level harvesting for non-scouts IF non-scouts can use them to harvest. For those of us who ARE Scouts, it should be AT your level if IT harvests OR should provide a bonus to YOU if YOU harvest. This whole %-harvest-rate-when-grouped thing makes those droids completely worthless to us scout/ranger types.

Some people may not use traps, but I've got a ranger pal and last night I was out on a hunt WITHOUT him. Our heavy swordsman in training repeatedly said, "Man, I miss those traps!" I tend to agree. Even if he only drops the traps that give to-hit bonuses, that's a nice benefit. If he can have a droid out that allows him to attack WHILE the traps are being flung, that actually makes him MORE useful, as long as he's okay with throwing just one kind of trap. Or he could have the droid throw one while he throws another. There are some possibilities there.

Ugh..not being able to trow traps from backpacks anymore? I hope that's just a temporary bug.

Hoorah for multiple stacks in a trapping droid. They are now useful.

It would be nice if you could put an additional trap type in it for each module though,

Harvest droids are useless untill they provide a large harvesting bonus, or auto-harvest for you.

On a tangent, a good droid module would be a camp-tending module. Leave the droid in a camp and the camp does not disband.

Now that is a darn fine idea! (even if it is a work-around for a skill that we should have)

Okay a couple of quick tests now...

One trapper droid with two modules i have loaded so far (and not maxed it out) 45 phec darts. Yep it just keeps taking them

One Trap and one harvest mod droid on a dune bantha: 36 units of hide

a probot with 5 harvest mods dune bantha: 41 units of hide

Me alone (no group) dune bantha: 38 units of hide

Both probots were grouped with me (one out at a time).

SOOOOO....

Seems to me to be a good deal here.

I am Just novice ranger almost done with tracking 4.

Myk

Thanks to Jendan for the droids at a great price!

Calc: I have descovered my problem with hand-throwing traps on test. It used to be the case that if you hot-keyed the trap and it was in your backpack that the trap would go off. That is no longer the case, it now has to be in your main inventory there.

It still works both places on live.

One thing I don't think anybody has asked: Do you get trapping or scouting experience for using either of these modules?

Yes I got scout and trap xp. It was pretty cool actually. and with a maxed out droid i can harvest more than normal so that is a nice bonus.

I love that camp-tending module idea

From what I read on the DE boards, it sounds like the group harvest penalty has been removed if you are grouped only with pets. The way they described the harvest module over there is that it augments your skill, so having the droid harvest will give you a bonus to the amount harvested. Assuming that the harvest penalty has been removed, that alone could be a fairly good reason to pick up one of these droids!

As a rifleman, I am looking forward to having a harvest droid so I can kneel or go prone at optimum range, and not have to move a muscle until the lair is finished. Has anybody tried using one while on a mount/vehicle? I assume that it would work since *you* are riding, not the droid, but I dunno. Having to dismount to harvest has been another pet peeve of mine, so if that is cured with a droid, I'll be triply pleased with them...

I agree with the poster that said that traps do, on occasion, come in handy. I too have used glow wire when hunting with lower-level players, and had them comment on noticing that it helps. P-darts, Mesh, and spurs can be pretty handy too. However, dealing with restocking toolbars with small stacks of them has been such a pain that I, like many others, have stopped using them completely. The trapping module, now that you can load multiple stacks, sounds like it could make them worth using again! I scanned the DE boards a bit, but couldn't discover whether or not you can load multiple trap types, and if so how you would then go about ordering the droid to throw the different ones. Anybody have an answer?
