I should change my name to Ranger Ted for Ted Nudgent.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I'm sure this has been discussed but I believe the Ranger is meant to be a Hunter and capable of hunting most if not all reds solo. This being said, a nice improvement in the class would be the development of a slow VERY HIGH damage rifle unique to the Ranger. Kind of like the Wookie Bowcaster. We need to have something that puts a whooping on bigger reds.

Make it a BIG old gun......max damage 1000 -1500 unsliced with a rough speed of 8-9.

Just a thought.....

/sigh/ RED does not indicate that the creature is tough. It indicates that the creature would be tough for YOU to attack solo with THE WEAPON YOU CURRENTLY HAVE EQUIPPED. You should not be able to solo a red con unless you get VERY VERY lucky PERIOD. If you get your elephant gun, the reds would just ge bigger and even less possible for you to kill. the red con is NOT a static measurement of an animals toughness. You don't need a bigger gun. Now go play :-)

"Maybe the experimentation could be on the arrows."

- As long as all these additions are specific to only Creatures and not Humanoids or other Players.

- I like these ideas, keep them coming.

That bow idea is great! But people will still get pissed. Imagine when you get this "OMG! TOS RANGRES SOLID AL CRITERE! **edit** TAT HIS GAY!?1/1!?!/1?!?!!?" And dont say it wont happen because whenever a proffesion is actuallly usefull people get mad. Im all for the bow idea though. Maybe Novice Rangers are have very low accuracy, and maybe there could be an addition to one of your skill tree that adds accuracy. That would ease all the pain. Sigh, to bad this will never... ever happen

I dont think we should have a special rifle.

I believe we should be more like Army Rangers/scouts...we should be able to out way ahead of others, and then call in x-wing air strikes.

No player can solo a red?

Heheh, mesa no think so.

If it can't move, it can't kill you. Traps!

If it spits at you, its spitting is very innacurate past 35 meters. The sharp bone spur drops accuracy almost down to nothing.

It takes a little learning and experimentation with the particular red con, but Rangers and Scouts can deal with creatures in a way NO other profession can dream of.

As far as I know, we're the only profession that has the slightest chance against reds while solo. Without trapping there is only a slim chance you can take down a red con animal if that animal is even marginally quick on their feet, and by marginally quick I mean anything faster than a snorbal, which is most animals.

The only way a non-Ranger non-Scout can solo red-con animals is the same way we solo red-con NPCs, and that's DOT attacks and running.

Kinda like an elephant gun? Doesn't sound bad, but:

Everyone else will want it for PvP.

8 - 9 refresh for 1000 - 1500 kinda stinks. My FWG5 without specials kicks out 200 - 500 every second, depending on the animal's resists. With fan shot I can do up to 1300 per shot every 2.5 seconds.

*sigh* Did you take any Bounty Hunter pills lately ? ´

No-one should be able to solo reds. That's what groups are for.

I personally dont think a gun would be right in the ranger profession..I would rather have something like a crossbow and be able to make different types of bolts for it. Rather than have it do alot of damage per shot like a rifle, I would prefer if it has a really strong bleed..better than what you get in the combat professions..maybe a bolt that does nothing but put on a strong bleed, while another does much the same as a Phecnacine dart but more potent and longer lasting. This would aid us more in creature hunting and not so much, if at all, in PvP. Also I would like it to be 'silent' so you can shoot at a creature that is in a social pack and not get aggroed by all the others..but when the bleed starts that creature goes aggressive. This is how bleed currently works for most of the combat professions except if you attack a social creature bleed the others jump on you even if the one you shot doesnt know where you are. Just my 2 cents

I think you should be able to fashion say a bow and arrow set up, or hey maybe a spear. You could make a knife out of flint that would be cool. Ranger in this game isnt a combat profession. I see it set up like an American Indian. You have the ability to track, move fast through the wild undetected, set up camps, and trap animals. It is in no way geared toward a combat system. If you want combat you have plenty of points to pick up any one of the weapon professions.

A rifle given to rangers would be too powerful once everything else is implemented imo. Hell you could master ranger, master ch, and still have points for something else. As it is set up now you can easily get your rifle master if you want.

"I think you should be able to fashion say a bow and arrow set up"

- This has been suggested already.

- I have noted it, and will add it to the list tonight.
