Im actually starting to get really excited by this idea.

I like it in an RP aspect.

Check my sig and you will see what i mean.

Im currently trying to contact Mokazza of bloodfin so he can make me a member.

The Antarian Rangers - Protectors of the Jedi Code, Masters of the Wild!

That should be our theme and im also of the opinion that it should be rebel only.

I dont mean to tell everyone what to do, but its how im going to role play it all.

gets excited about this whole game once more!!!

Ok this sounds kewl and all but Antatian Rangers are a group of varying professions not a group ofone profession. I'm sure the Antarian Rangers had comandos, pistoleers and slicers etc in their ranks. This doesnt mean that the Devs couldnt make it a title we can wear once you master Ranger and a combat skill like Pistoleer. More than likely though it sounds like players will call themselves this through a PA than anything else.

Rangering in star wars is a useful skill that goes along well with a weapon skill, they are not one in the same and i am glad that you must take a elite weapons profession to go along with ranger to be successful. But it doesn't take away from the fact that the rangers in star wars were good at a certain kind of warfare(guerilla warfare). The antarian rangers were not a bunch of bounty hunters and commandos though i'm sure a few of them had some commando skills while the majority of them were trained with rilfes, carbines, pistols. They served in the clone wars, they were hunted down by the empire because of their loyalty to the jedi. They were masters of the environment as well, they however were not limited to tracking and hunting animals, although they were quie knowledgeable in that field. They laid boobytraps for the enemy and acted as scouts for the army. It's not a straight up combat profession, it's a combat support profession, we still ahve to elarn weapon skills, but our ability to use the environment against you is our strength, hence our traps, the devs are working on such traps for us, so stop saying we have no place in the GCW, we aren't glorified resource harvesters, we can do that but we can also do so much more. If you can't see that ranger skills are useful in non urban guerilla style warfare you are out of your mind. The problem now is the code isn't in to allow us to use skills we already possess in pvp making us pve only right now. This will change so throw away your misconceptions of what we are and will be. We use the environment as our weapon and we do it better than anybody else. Once camo works in pvp and traps as well we will be able to lay ambushes, then you will see what a ranger can really do.

Ranger_Fred,

I will join you in trying to start an Antarian Rangers Chapter on Eclipse.

I have always been a Ranger in all the MMORPGS that I could choose that option, eevn in other games (D&D,AD&D, ETC...) . To me a RAnger has Always meant aman(not pc i know)that Can survive in ANY environment and can excell in combat. The current set of skills in this game does not really reflect this, so until they correct this I have been giving up my other skills to gain more in the pistoleer tree, and may even take som in the BH tree, always a work in progress.

I have always been a fan of Star Wars, but I never new that much about the universe other than what was in the movies. Since I started this game ~6 weeks ago, (Out of the country for the last year playing the part of a RL Ranger) I have been learning more about the whole universe, when I read about the Antarian Rangers I KNEW this was what I wanted my character to be, no thought about it.

So give me a tell or email we can hook up for some hunting. As I am a casual gamer, I am not on ALL the time. I can be found in the evening PST or on the weekends.

Either you are a RANGER, or you are not, there is NO halfway.

Well until they do all these wonderful things which I am not sure will happen in the near future I will do what I need to be viable in PvP. A commando can't take a BH down just read their boards, like it or not BHs right now have all the great specials and weapons to compete in PvP. So like a true Ranger I am adapting and overcoming, I am quite sure these Antarian rangers when they fought did alot more then throw traps and set ambushes with traps. A good ambush in done with a high and concerted volume of fire and violence of action period and a LLC does just that. Booby traps are just used to channel enemy forces into a choke point, initiate the ambushand seal off escape routes from a ambush (at least thats what they taught us in Real Ranger school). So in my opinion having these skills along with my Ranger makes me more of a Para-Military Guerillia warfare expert our line as it is, is a support class and I am just enhancing my role by dealing out major damage with BH pistols and LLC.

Guess you never saw what a claymore or anti tank mine or anti personnel mine does eh? The vietnamese had very deadly booby traps that did a whole lot more than channel the enemy into heavy fire. Booby traps are used to kill, maim, and slow down an enemy force and create confusion.

First off I am not going to get into a pissing contest with you because I said mines and booby traps are used to initiate a ambush and that usually means maiming/killingpeople but I have never seen a claymore mine double tap whats left from the ambush, pick up a M60/SAW and and fire into the kill zone then pick up all intelligence information and hump back to a FOB and report. Ambushes and done with weapons and mines not just mines and the best weapons/Skills out there in PvP IMHO are they BH line and I intend to use them to be a deadly PvP ranger. You just have a hard on for BHs thats all, think out of the box and use what is the best thats what a Antarian Ranger would do, mix those weapons with our skill set and not much stands up at the end of the day.

A single ranger would be quite ineffective against an entire enemy force of trained soldiers. A team with a ranger in it would be quite effective at attaining victory, i'm quite positive you weren't a one man army sent on solo missions, you had a team with different skills to get the job done. I would myself take a few commandos and other combat professions with me to setup that ambush. Like i said ranger isn't a stand alone profession but combined with other professions should be quite potent. The trap and conceal line will give us that niche in the GCW.

The rebels and the ewoks on endor worked as a team, but those traps they used were what helped them win, without the ewoks and those traps the rebels would have been routed and captured and the shield generator would have stayed online and the rebel fleet would have lost. It's a team effort, all we want is to be a viable part of that team to do our part.
