2. How do I achieve the "maxed character health" of 3000?

Under the new system, as your character combat level increases, so will your total health. Your character's combat level is determined by the number of combat related skill boxes that you have. Additionally doctor and combat medic skill boxes will count towards this level. So as you gain these combat related skill boxes you will be able to gain health up to the cap of 3000.

This means that NONE of the skill points we invest in Scout/Ranger count towards this max of 3k health... even though doctors and CM do.

This, actually, is the first post re: CU that actually makes me wanna drop ranger.

Well, I remember that I asked BEFORE all of this happened wether or not the Ranger would be considered a combat class. The reponse I received was that the Ranger IS a combat class (I'd like to believe that too), but this statement clearly defies that Ranger is seen as a combat profession.

i still think we're jumping way too high over nothing. basing our reactions on existing info that doesn't even mention us is a little crazy. tell you guys what... if they nerf Ranger, I'll join in and scream as loud as possible until my freaking ears fall off. until then, I'll give the developpers the benefit of the doubt.

Why in the WORLD would you give the devs the benefit of the doubt!? For any issue, the longer they have to work on it before hearing about problems, the less you'll be able to do when you DO do something...

We got armor, we got the armor that is good for kinetic and energy ranther than either of the armors that are better at one and not so good at the other.

Says it all I think. Without a single Combat prof in my template I'll be able to wear good armor... hmm.. wonder what other things we don't know yet? Like why I'll need armor that dosn't have less energy protections?

Then again my PSG picks up ranged attacks on critters all the time in live, so some of them could be getting stuff that falls into the energy/elemental type attacks.

I've always given them the benefit of the doubt. The thing is, this statement CLEARLY leaves rangers out of the picture. For those of you saying "don't worry, i'm sure it'll be ok"... HOW? It'll only be OK if we DO something about it. that's why I posted this. so that we can DO something about it. Leaving things as they are stated above will really castrate rangers and their hunting abilities. the CU is on TEST center. NOW is our chance to say "hey, this blows big hair bantha balls!" and hopefully have it changed before things go live. NOW is when things are most volitile and we CAN have things changed.

So don't sit back and say "it'll be fine, don't overreact" because if we just sit back, it WON'T be fine. JB, Owen, i'm sure you're doing all you can in the corr boards. Keep it up!

Yeah, from what I've seen on TC5, its crap. You can't solo anything, and the game went from buff-centric to group-centric. Before, you needed buffs to fight anything (or some chef food and Ranger skills), now you need a group of 3 people to kill a worrt! Being hit for 600 damage is NOTmy idea of a fun game. one of my friends quit cause you needed buffs to kill a nuna. Now I amy quit cause you need a group of 20 to kill a nuna.

I just made Ranger on live, but I have a small thought concerning the CU health points (I also am testing on TC-5):

Why don't we just get a combat type of XP when we use our traps? After all as of rightwe're going to get only a few opptions {profession wise} to get 3000HAMafter the CU/RB {in it's current form} at least this way we won't get hit to hard with the HAM bar when we go in to combat.

first off, i'm not saying it's not a big deal IF rangers are left out of thehealth bonus... i'm just saying we have no way of knowing that rangers are left out right now... do you really think folks around here will sit back and let it happen if that were the case?...

secondly, a little hijacking... i'm sick of the combat nerf whining... in the current system players are WAY overpowered... the devs have had to put 20 super battle droids in the corvette just to make it a challenge... we have to have "how to fight unbuffed threads," to show people how to play a game with god-mode off...

i played some last night, and i had no problem killing anything... that is, anything i wouldn't be stupid for attacking... "oh no... the /con system might actually work after the CU!"...

i remember the old days... yes... i have been incapped by paralopes on talus... i actually miss the challenge... should a master of a combat profession be scared of paralopes?... no... but a novice should think before messing with anything...

i really hope the devs can spot the difference between the "i'm not uber anymore (in leet speak of course)!" complaints and the "seriously, this needs some attention" recommendations...

Well, your health is based on your combat rating, and your combat rating is based on your combat skills. Since we know we aren't getting combat skills, they would have to institue a generic combat rating to increase our health. That would make our con system be wrong all the time (it would make us look more powerful than we will be).

BUT, this is, indeed, still up in the air until the devs state otherwise, or the CU goes live.

Well, Master Ranger give +10 to rangedand melee defences. It's not much, but it has to count towards an overall combat rating in some ways. If we pushed for increasing the defence mods that ranger gives us, because it is intrinsically a combat matter, then it might theoretically increase a player's overall combat rating, which in turn might contribute to health bar bonus.

I'm clutching at straws, but it's the most directly linked set of skills we have to combat.

The +10 modifier isn't the only thing we have directly realted to combat. Our entire trapping tree is also directly realted to combat. You cant throw a trap without initiateing combat. To take this one step farther, technically, the only tree we have that isn't rooted in combat is our survival tree. As i'm sure you know the only way to make meaningful scouting xp is by killing critters.

Trapping skill yes,I agree, only didn't mention it as I wanted to emphasis the generic defences we get.

However, it's the skills that counts and trapping is the one of them. Having said that, I was thinking in terms of skills that would determine the con-colours of mobs on our radars, and even our trapping skills don't effect those (hey, it'd be good for me if they did, I'm wookiee, I get racial bonus ).

The only other thing I can think of to add to the case isthat we have "creature to hit bonus" (+25 at Master Ranger). This is also an explicit combat skill.

But sure, if trapping skills can lend weight to rangers getting health bonuses (especially in light of doctors getting them when they have no innate combat skills at all) then let them be thrown into the ring aswell then.

Over to Owen...

Ya our tree is going to have to get a pass before this goes live if for no other reason than to fit our traps into the new system and change the old mods we got for the new mods. I'm sure they will at least throw us a cookie.

How long has it been since they upped our harvest mod by 50% just to shut us up? lol.

I'm not as worried about Ranger sucking post CU as I am about combat sucking...
