Thread: Official: How to Max (3k) health in CU Rangers get shafted
Well, I remember that I asked BEFORE all of this happened wether or not the Ranger would be considered a combat class. The reponse I received was that the Ranger IS a combat class (I'd like to believe that too), but this statement clearly defies that Ranger is seen as a combat profession.

2. How do I achieve the "maxed character health" of 3000?
Under the new system, as your character combat level increases, so will your total health. Your character's combat level is determined by the number of combat related skill boxes that you have. Additionally doctor and combat medic skill boxes will count towards this level. So as you gain these combat related skill boxes you will be able to gain health up to the cap of 3000.
This means that NONE of the skill points we invest in Scout/Ranger count towards this max of 3k health... even though doctors and CM do.
This, actually, is the first post re: CU that actually makes me wanna drop ranger.
Says it all I think. Without a single Combat prof in my template I'll be able to wear good armor... hmm.. wonder what other things we don't know yet? Like why I'll need armor that dosn't have less energy protections?
Then again my PSG picks up ranged attacks on critters all the time in live, so some of them could be getting stuff that falls into the energy/elemental type attacks.

i still think we're jumping way too high over nothing. basing our reactions on existing info that doesn't even mention us is a little crazy. tell you guys what... if they nerf Ranger, I'll join in and scream as loud as possible until my freaking ears fall off. until then, I'll give the developpers the benefit of the doubt.
I've always given them the benefit of the doubt. The thing is, this statement CLEARLY leaves rangers out of the picture. For those of you saying "don't worry, i'm sure it'll be ok"... HOW? It'll only be OK if we DO something about it. that's why I posted this. so that we can DO something about it. Leaving things as they are stated above will really castrate rangers and their hunting abilities. the CU is on TEST center. NOW is our chance to say "hey, this blows big hair bantha balls!" and hopefully have it changed before things go live. NOW is when things are most volitile and we CAN have things changed.
So don't sit back and say "it'll be fine, don't overreact" because if we just sit back, it WON'T be fine. JB, Owen, i'm sure you're doing all you can in the corr boards. Keep it up!

haven't had a chance to check yet, but does he state outright that ranger skill boxes won't contribute to health pools?...
Well, your health is based on your combat rating, and your combat rating is based on your combat skills. Since we know we aren't getting combat skills, they would have to institue a generic combat rating to increase our health. That would make our con system be wrong all the time (it would make us look more powerful than we will be).
BUT, this is, indeed, still up in the air until the devs state otherwise, or the CU goes live.
Well, Master Ranger give +10 to rangedand melee defences. It's not much, but it has to count towards an overall combat rating in some ways. If we pushed for increasing the defence mods that ranger gives us, because it is intrinsically a combat matter, then it might theoretically increase a player's overall combat rating, which in turn might contribute to health bar bonus.
I'm clutching at straws, but it's the most directly linked set of skills we have to combat.
How long has it been since they upped our harvest mod by 50% just to shut us up? lol.
I'm not as worried about Ranger sucking post CU as I am about combat sucking...
