Can't believe I read the whole thing. That was amazing.

Great work NRaas, as always. Cool how you managed to turn that neat proposal into a long bulleted list.

"Cool how you managed to turn that neat proposal into a long bulleted list."

Most of the proposal was style really, to pull all the items for the proposal together into one cohesive vision.

The substance was in the "Possible Implementation" elements, which were all bulleted items anyways.

This is "jaw dropping" amazing. Great job NRass!

Not to criticise such well thought out and developped post, but I feel there is something missing that I was hoping the more and more I read through it. Two things:

1- Starwarsiness - It might be covered in other posts but Ifeel that if it is the SOTP topic, it should be at leastsummarized here (In bullet points). Playing a Rangermay befun but why are we playing it in SWG and not in another game? I'd like to see more ideas on how to make this profession more in the SW theme.

2- Galactic Civil War Involvement - Although some ideas about combat, traps, conceal, etc are covered throughout the posts, having a section to summarize them would be a good thing.

It would complete your posts and I'm sure TH and the Devs would like that.

So NRaas have we heard anything that you can report? Has GM or any others said that they are actually looking at Ranger any time soon?

I have heard that there may be some camping fixes in the pipe... But I don't know when they will be seeing the light of day.

Has anyone mentioned the fact that the high level camps only have a medical crafting station and not a general crafting which is the one we need to experiment on our camouflage kits?

The High Tech Field Base has both crafting stations.

Great work Nraas! (I posted on another thread as well complimenting you on your work, and also had some ideas to add to your list for Ranger)

I would like; and I'm sure a great many others would agree, to see the Ranger being used as in the days of the Old Republic, as the people that explore new planets, either for the Rebel Alliance, Empire, or Neutral.

For pre-release of a future expansion, a Master Ranger would be the first to step foot on a new planet (planets that are released in a futureexpansion) for a limited period of time before general release as a sort oflimited-timeperiod. It would allow us to go to the planet, taking any friends that we like; invited by invitation only by the Master Ranger, first approved by LucasArts/SOE of course (approved players would recieve advance copies of the release, paying for themof course), and explore said planet, getting the information back to our Master / Leader / Hiree. We of course could report bugs etc as we find them allowing the Dev Team to get a patch before the expansion hits the shelf, thus reducing the number of flame threads on the Forums! Here are a few sample missions I thought up:

Lord Vader summons you:

<name>: "Yes my lord, how may I be of service to the Empire?"
Lord Vader: "I have need of you to go to the Honoghr system and establish contact with the Noghri. I may have some use for these creatures."
<name>: "Yes my Lord. Right away my Lord. Is there anything else my Lord?"
Lord Vader: "Don't fail me <name>!"
<name>: *Gulp*, *<name> instinctively pulls on their collar* Yes, yes my Lord. I shall bring you news soon of the Noghri!
<name> quickly exits Lord Vader's chamber.

Or you areasked to speak with Princess Leia:

<name>: *deep bow* Yes your Highness.
Princess Leia: *gives that smile that melts men's knees* Please, call me Leia.
<name>: *mouth feels like it's full of cotton* Yes, Leia. You wanted to see me?"
Princess Leia: "The Alliance is in a most difficult position. With the recent crackdown by Imperial forces throught the Galaxy, we are hard-pressed to find a new Command Base. News has it that the Hoth System is sufficiently remote enough for even the Emperor's forces to find. I would like you to go to the Hoth System and find us a suitable planet to set up our base."
<name>: "Yes, your High...I mean Leia. I would be honored to help. I shall send word immediately upon finding anything."
Princess Leia: "Thank you <name>. May the Force Be With You."

Even the neutral Ranger not willing to take sides in the Galactic Civil War has a task:

Tallon Karrde: You're probably wondering why I sent word that I wished to speak withyou <name>?
<name>: Looks anxiously around the crowded cantina..."I was, yes. What is it I can do for you?"
Tallon Karrde: I have need of your "services".
<name>: And what would that need be? And how much does it pay?
Tallon Karrde: "Oh money is not an issue, but you shall have enough to suit your needs if you do as I ask?"
<name>: "Indeed? So what is it that you ask?"
Tallon Karrde: "I hear that there is a recently discovered planet that might suit my needs as a base of operations."
<name>: "So what is this planet and where is it located"
Tallon Karrde: *hands a datapad to <name>* "You will find what you need in there."
<name>: *opens the datapad...Myrkyr* "I shall get news to you as soon as possible. A pleasure doing business with you...Mr?"
Tallon Karrde: "That's none of your business...Just get me the information I need."

I know this was a bit "roleplayish" but hey isn't that why we play Star Wars Galaxies? To set ourselves into this great epic struggle between good and evil? I think that would add such a great element to the game and allow us Rangers to actually do our job! Be a Ranger!

I'm not a Master Ranger yet, but I soon will be. Currently 2/2/2/2, but nearly 3/3/2/3!

May the Force Be With You!

ZackStarwind..

That would be so cool.
the entire ranger community has been asking for ranger specific quests for a while. Your idea was fresh and welcomed. Thanks for the post.

armorsmiths get the RIS quest
artisans get the shellfish/ salmonella quest

Rangers get...... (?)

Great post. Hopefully the devs will respond...i think a great idea would be a "snare" trap that could be used on other players to reduce movment or possible root them in place for awhile. This would give rangers a defnite bonus that we badly need.
