That was their perception... but then they asked us what we wanted from ranger... so now if they say..

That's great.... but we'll stick with the creature thing... then it'll be like "Why the hell did you ask us?"

Come to think of it... I can definetly see the Devs doing that... **edit** it!

"You may want to expand this request to includea tracking droid, especially with the DE revamp on the way"

That's a cool idea.

"I'd rather make ranger a hunt master than lose the title"

It's just a suggestion... Tracker doesn't really fit either, as all the harvesting bonuses are stored in that branch as well.

"Great work once again NRaas, although i was hoping we would be pushing fully for the creature-centric changes rather than also wanting humanoid changes."

I was hoping so as well (and in the process simplify the list to one side or the other).

But alas, the developers have not provide an Official stance on the profession, beyond the "creature" profession comment in the last Top 5 responses. And we all know how well that went over with the community.

Until the developers decide where they are going, I'm keeping my options open regarding wishlist items for both the creature and paramilitary sides.

That bonus to hit is one of the most important things for the combat side of things.. hell its' the only one we have. I didn't even know untill recently, that it didn't apply to specials.... who uses autofire anyway?! It's ridiculous!!

"That's a cool idea. "

Well, I had seen someone voicea similaridea to the bloodhounds a while ago in the form of a droid.I had thought it was already on the SotP, but I didn't see it, so I thought I'd point it out.

Come to think of it there is a blurb in the Misc. section about a droid module for enhancing tracking.

I'll probably need to combine the two ideas to clean up that duplication.

Looks amazing, as usual, NRaas.

  • "However, it is in the best interest of game as a whole to have some interdependence, and several Rangers find it odd that polymer was removed from our camps, leaving only traps with resources that we can not supply using our own skills. "

  • While polymer should be brought back (as I don't like having a stack of polymer sitting in my pack used only for adhesive meshes), higher level camps still do need metal, which I have been unable to obtain using ranger skills However, these camps are rather useless except for grinding, so whatever the resources to make them, the profession interdependancy is lost at master.

"Request for trained Bloodhound creatures to aid in tracking

    • A creature could be trained by a Creature Handler to increase the Tracking skill of its master
    • The bloodhound pet would increase the range of tracking, due to its more acute senses
    • The enhancement would only be available while the creature is called"

You may want to expand this request to includea tracking droid, especially with the DE revamp on the way

"Request for the Hunt Master title to be changed to Tracker "

I love the title hunt master, it's just inaccurate. I'd rather make ranger a hunt master than lose the title

Great work once again NRaas, although i was hoping we would be pushing fully for the creature-centric changes rather than also wanting humanoid changes.

I honestly believe the devs have made their mind up about us being creature only hunters and our efforts to change their minds will be in a waste of time. Instead of trying to change their minds lets just add to their perceptions and visions and try to advance the profession in that direction including the things we want.

Sorry for bringing this up and being negative but i dont think we have a chance of changing their perceptions.

Idlike to have a fully fleshed out pure 'creature' hunter profession making us the best hunters in the game, with features aiding us in this area, rather than begging forchanges that wont happen and letting the devs make the profession soley how they want with little input from us.

Sorry, "Hunt Master" sounds like a bad 80's rap performer.

Baby creature traps: should not release the creature back into the game. The captured critter should work like a Bio-Engineered one: you get a Tame option on the radial menu if you are able to tame it.

Still too much emphasis on creature hunting and pie-in-the-sky stuff we just don't need. (Ghille suits? Hunting cabins?)

I love my Hunt Master title, just shame i cant hunt any better with ranger over someone with master scout.

I'd have to disagree with that suggestion. You if you were able to tame the animal wouldnt you just tame it right there and then? Why trap it other than to move away from agro creatures to tame it?

I think the baby trap idea suggested in the SotP was right on and would bring a new 'Ranger Specific' money making process to the profession. I think if we went with your suggestion we would be limiting the feature's usability to only people who are at a good level in CH, like yourself. We need features that are accessable and usefull to all rangers, not just the CH/Ranger in you proposal.

The SotP suggestion would fit this bill perfectly and could become very useful.

NRaas, I'm sure you're almost getting tired of my posts about how rangers should be mounted badasses, but I had an idea of how it might be done.

So each class has special moves which can't be done when mounted (maybe not EACH class, I'm not really sure). But let's say any such move was given a level based on it's position within a class tree. So skills at novice starting professions would be level 1. Skills one level up would be level 2, up through level 6 at master starting professions. Any skills at novice advanced professions would be level 7 up through level 12 at master advanced professions. So, for example, fan shot would be a level 11 special.

Anyhow, I thought it would be cool if at novice, master, and each level of wayfaring, a ranger gained 2 levels worth of specials he could perform while mounted. So a novice ranger could do level 1 and 2 specials while mounted. A ranger with 2 boxes in wayfaring could do level 1 through 6 moves while mounted. And a master ranger could do level 1 through 12 (aka ALL) special moves while mounted.

I think this would be a great way to differentiate a ranger from a scout. And if we got our faster movement while mounted, it would actually bring a little more purpose back to mounts.

    Any thoughts?

with some restrictions to certain specials that use character movement, I don't see why the idea isn't worth implementing. There is the problem with melee attacks of course. You can't hit high-high-mid-low kick when you're on your dewback. You could hit high high mid (though on a carrion spat you could only hit high), but the kick is impossible. Same goes for any melee profession special really, because they rely on freedom of motion. On a mount, melee defense would be higher (cavalry beats infantry in offense), but you wouldn't be very versatile as a swordsman on a mount.
