Thread: Official Feedback scheduled for today

Give the Devs a break for once Xion.

The chances of getting official feedback from Q are 100% at this point. There is absolutely no question whether we will get the reponse or not.

With the way things have panned out today, it's no surprise that they've been delayed. They're busy people, our class is only one of 33, and no-matter what you seem to think - Rangers are not the most important.

Patience.

I'd agree. Please spare the drama queen crap and exercise a modicum of patience. If Q made a mistake, it was promising to deliver all 33 responses on the eve of the first major patch. Hopefully he'll learn to manage the player community's expectations a little better next time.

The mistake was indeed making a promise about when he'd post the feedback.I doubt very much thoughthat he'll learn anything from it, as this is a type of mistake the devs have made over and over and over, and they still haven't learned it. They are intelligent, hard-working, and dedicated, but they are also absolute bumblers when it comes to being able to predict when they will complete almost any given task.

From Q-3PO Yesterday:

I've put up the replies for all the combat correspondents. The answers to the other professions are written, but some high level people asked to review them so they will likely not get posted tonight. I'll push to get the final versions ASAP. They should be posted by the end of the day tomorrow if not sooner. Again I apologize about the time this is taking to return feedback. The designers are already working on (or have fixed) many of the issues. The feedback loop is just taking longer than we (and you) would like. This process will get better as soon as we hire our assistant community relations manager who will be stationed in Austin and will bug the designers as much as the producers will allow. Thanks to Xahn for flying out to Texas last week to handle this so far.

So, check back back later today I would guess.

If you had read the post from Q more carefully Xion, you'd see that the suits asked to review the remaining feedback before it got posted...it's not Q's fault that they didn't go out as he intended, its the corporate (fill in with your favorite terms) that seem to think they need to "review" this feedback. My guess here is that they saw the backlash from the commando community(who got totally screwed over), and want to make sure that all the remainingfeedback is flowers and candy for all. Which kind of bites, as we are now much less likely to get the true picture of the dev vision for Ranger, and will getsome corporate lackey's "Dr. Feel Good" interpretations.

Yeah, I'm kind of peeved tooat the moment...they said they would deliver, and then when they started to live up to their word, corporate comes and snatches it away, and the correspondents are all sitting here with no communication at all going '**edit**'. It wouldn't surprise me at all if more correspondents started jumping ship soon.

No, they haven't responded. There's your answer.

When they do, Mineras will post. Inquiring every few hourswon't motivate the developers to respond any sooner. Have a little patience.

I'm not sure why you guys are so excited to see what they have for us. have you looked at the combat responses? All they are are "hrm, we'll look into it" and "we'll see what we can do". Most likely it's not going to be startling or shocking.

hence why the corporate wheels yanked the responses "for review" - the one liners that came back did way more harm than good, and served only to further agitate the player community as a whole. One correspondent quit, and the rest of us aren't exactly happy with this turn of events.

The community poured hundreds of man hours into crafting posts full of suggestions, concerns, issues and visions. The correspondents took it out of their time to volunteer to wrestle all of this into managable, profession specific submissions, often spending hours of each day in this task. The designers had hours of meetings to discuss the issues presented by the players, and the best they can do is come back with 5 one-liners for each profession saying either "you've got it wrong", "working as intended", or "we'll look at it and get back to you."

Is it any wonder the community cried havoc and let loose the dogs of war?

I look at the responses given to the combat professions and pretty much see a steaming pile of bullsh*t. It's assinine and insulting to the community to develop a correspondent program, go through all the work of gathering the necessary information, and then spitting back a bunch of 'put you off' bullet statements with no explanation, reasoning or justifications. It makes the correspondents look like fools, and I don't blame the commando correspondent for quitting one bit. It's surprising some of the other correspondents haven't quit as well.

When our feedback finally gets here, I'm hoping for something more substantial - I think someone with some authority at SOE is trying to catch this major mistake before it gets any worse, and the remaining responses will be more worthwhile. If not, well, I have a surprise or two up my sleeve in case we do get hit with one-liners.

I think the theory is... when it comes to Ranger.... any new info helps... even if its just acknowledgment of our issues so that we know they know (which is what some are grieving about... )

And yes Mineras, I read the Dev Tracker and I read all the info... I'm sitting here trying to figure out why everyone jumped on my fricken head so much and realize that my response was a direct reply to the person above me asking if the reports would be today... but I didn't put a time frame in my response so it seems out of context. My grief was that Q was sitting here complaining that he didn't have time to do stuff... yet he was posting stuff all over the boards... when he could have taken that time and simply sent YOU the update to post.

I guess I'm just really annoyed that anyone would sit here and point a finger at my flame saying "You didn't read this..." when ifTHEY would have readQ's ENTIRE thread they would see that I responded in that very thread with the acknowledgement that the most likely reason we aren't seeing official feedback was exactly because they didn't have great news for us and needed to rethink how they are going to present it instead of the "commando response".

Can we all get over it now?

As far as Correspondents jumping ship... I'm not surprised... its kinda a bunk situation right now... collect a bunch of grief and then watch as things get out of hand and your issues aren't really resolved.... but I think a lot of that has to do with the reports that were sent in. I've posted publicly on this board that I honestly think your report was one of the best sent in... and that I'm thankful that YOU are sending in info that is USEFUL and can be worked with.

I sure hope you're sticking around.... I don't think we're in horrible shape for the future... (I couldn't imagine anything they would do that would hurt the class beyond where its at now).

I do agree with HOLO that SOE needs to start hitting the boards more in order to start changing the sour tone that its picked up in the last week.

I have been out of game for a couple weeks, with a few days to go yet. I cant comment on the changes or whats been happening with our profession. I can say that some major patience is going to be needed by all in these, still, early stages of the game.

Mineras don't give up the ship yet. The rest of us are very pleased with how you are doing. As for the Dev responses I think it comes down to 'the watched pot never boils'. Everyone play the game and continue posting on the boards and above all have fun. The changes will come alot faster if you aren't spending all day waiting on them.

I'm sticking it out, through think n thin I'll wait. I played UO foir 2 years and EQ for longer with some DAoC thrown in. I think I will be around in another year to look back and laugh at our meager beginings.

By no means does my complete lack in faith of the correspondant report being actually useful mean that I don't like being a ranger or I can't wait. I think the Ranger community is a well respected one that for the most part is a patient group that knows things will eventually happen. And as broken as our profession is, we are rational enough to realize other ones (read: commando) don't even work. I appluad all my fellow rangers in being mature about the way things have been going, let's continue to be one of the more mellow profession groups out there amongst all the chaos going on.

Cheers to my fellow rangers,

Kaylan Saint - Master Ranger (Starsider)
