It may come down to Scout 4/4/0/0 and Ranged Support for all we know....

I'd like it to be Scout 4/4/0/0 since I was planning on picking up Medic 0/2/4/0 with the last 4 sp already tied up in Luck.

as a MBE/MCH/ranger xx4x template - this combination, or slight variants thereof, is currently the only way a Bio-Engineer can reach CL60.

shifting the requirements to marksman/carbines caps a BE/combat prof at CL57 and strips us of the ability to use stim-Ds.

not to mention the tracking skill is very useful to us, although that argument is lost at this point.

I really wouldn't mind a move to carbines if they had kept ranger moving its armor cert to recon. I like having two certifications for various roleplaying situations.

If they change the reqs to what they are planning i can't be a master scout, master ranger master rifleman anymore. I still want to keep my original ties to why I became a Ranger in the first place by keeping master scout. Now the only way I would be able to stay level 80 and keep master scout and master ranger is by going BH. I became a ranger to get away form my BH character in the first place. Melee Rangers are even more screwed by this if they want to keep their master scout titles. I'd have to say this flat out sucks. Rangers are a very devoted their templates and this forces them into something they won't want to do. I'd even go as far to say if these reqs go through you most likely will never see someone master scout ever again.

Going a little overboard there. If the High Tech Field base is at master scout, and the 40% group harvesting bonus is there too, you'll have all the PvE creature hunters at master scout. Then they can ignore Ranger, and carbines, be as effective against creatures as they are now, and have master rifles, master scout with 67 skill points free.

You could be Master Rifleman, Master Bounty Hunter and Master Scout.

while my dream was to be Carbineer/Ranger since day 1 i'll try to put that aside and be non-bias.

it would be much smarter for ranger to require trapping 4 and ranged support 4. this would let rangers be more then 1 ranged profession... but it would instantly be the FOTM template and be nerfed to heck and be back to useless.... so while i don't want to loose my 4xxx CM it would be much more balancing to require 2 lines of scout perferably trapping and exploration since these fit our new proffesion.... this would also allow melee rangers so everyone would be happy... i don't see any reason not to do this

I think what we have to remember is that, while our title is Ranger, we are reallyslated to becomemore of an 'Evade and Ambush' proffession, not an frontline soldier.I think it's unfair for TH to back it up by linking carbines to Ranger.

That said, even in modern Ranger squads, i'm sure theyuse more than just carbines. Like demolitions expert, medic, ect...

IF pre-reqs are Scout4000/ Marksman 0040:

Demo expert = Master Ranger/ Master Commando (23 skill points left)
medic = Master Ranger/ Master Combat Medic (9 skill points left)
Squal Leader = Master Ranger/ Master Squad Leader (38 skill points left)

We get 250 skill points, not 121.

I don't like it at all. This forces melee players to spend more skill points than ranged players. I was TKM when I first started playing and I think that profession fits in well with this new visionfor ranger.

As a rifleman I will only have to pick up carbines1-4, any mellee who doesn't already have marksman skills will have to pick up novice marksman along with carbines 1-4.

Yeah, but I'm not refering to it in the technical sense, more of a roleplaying thing for me. And that still leaves out melee proffesions. Not that Army Rangers pack along a melee tank

how about something in medic as a prereq you would think someone who can take care of there self out in the wild would have some medic ability then ranged or melee would be even

all the same arguments as i have seen in the bh forums SOE likes to pick what combat style we use with what profession we pick why should a bh be only ranged combat? why should smuggler be pistol / unarmed? why? why? why?

combat medic needs ranged support. is it because they THROW there heals and poisons?

the new ranger is going to THROW traps

Is THROWING considered a melee attack or ranged?

Actually, ha, I'd be okay with novice medic as a prereq. That way a lot of us get screwed at once..
