Haha yeah I noticed that too before I submitted my post, wasn't sure if he just left his comp on and signed in or if he's actually there at the computer.

Thanks for your comments folks, and for keeping it focused on just wishing well to those affected. This isn't the place for discussions of the other aspects of what happened today, and quite rightly so.
I opened the thread up knowing that we have a surprisingly large number of UK based rangers, some of whom live/work in or near London and almost all of whom will have friends or relatives whomtheir thoughts will be with today. We live on a really small island even if those of us 'away up here in the North' sometimes think that the other end of the island is the back end of the world (distance wise).
I've spent much of the day reading mail from friends and colleagues who work in/around the area affected and it's been good to see the sort of support we've expressed here going out to each other.
Just heard an interview on the news with some of the bus drivers and, as they put it, they're already back at work, tomorrow all the bus drivers will be out there again, "London won't be beaten". Even gave my old aunt a call, she lives very close to one of the stations that was hit. Her response "Oh we've put up with worse..."
Dunno if they're tough as old boots, or just bonkers in the nut
Best wishes to you all,
remember to be nice to your friends and family, eh?
Ken
Too true.
1. It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried
2. An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last.
3. A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject.
4. All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in single words: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope
5. One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.
6. Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.
7. We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire. Neither the sudden shock of battle nor the long-drawn trials of vigilance and exertion will wear us down. Give us the tools and we will finish the job
8. A love of tradition has never weakened a nation, indeed it has strengthened nations in their hour of peril; but the new view must come, the world must roll forward.
9. Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy
10. Although prepared for martyrdom, I preferred that it be postponed.
11. Battles are won by slaughter and maneuver. The greater the general, the more he contributes in maneuver, the less he demands in slaughter.
12. I have never accepted what many people have kindly said-namely that I inspired the nation. Their will was resolute and remorseless, and as it proved, unconquerable. It fell to me to express it.
13. If the human race wishes to have a prolonged and indefinite period of material prosperity, they have only got to behave in a peaceful and helpful way toward one another.
14. It may be that we shall by a process of sublime irony have reached a stage in this story where safety will be the sturdy child of terror, and survival the twin brother of annihilation.
15. It was the nation and the race dwelling all round the globe that had the lion's heart. I had the luck to be called upon to give the roar.
16. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duty and so bear ourselves that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth lasts for a thousand years men will still say, "This was their finest hour."
17. The maxim of the British people is "Business as usual."
18. These are not dark days: these are great days - the greatest days our country has ever lived.
19. To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years. To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day.
20. Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.
21. We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.
22. You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.
23. You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.
All - Sir Winston Churchill.
But outside of one person threatning to derail this thread. We are probaly the only unlocked thread of this type. So lets keep it civil and keep our hearts in the right place. Its not a time of hatred. Its a time to worry about people you don't know, in a country most of us have never been to.
Especially since we have fellow Rangers over there as well. With luck Owen was out of the country on one of his drinking tours.

My thoughts and prayers for London as well. No one should have to live in fear like that.

Actually, according toprofile info, Owen-Lars lives in Leeds.
Fine and well, thank you. My sister-in-law was caught up a bit in the chaos there this morning when Liverpool St and the rest of the centre was locked down, but thankfully was not directly involved as she walks to work in the centre rather than use the tube and I work way outside London anyway.
Your thoughts are appreciated, thank you. I know of nobody else directly effected from our Ranger community, but thats not to say some of my UK compatriots have not been.
Just as our friends in New York showed strength and resolve, we will not be cowed or fear the evil acts of these cowards. Ourunity remains undiminished.

I used to use 22 as my signature on several forums. The man was great for quotes.
Indeed - on one occassion I did say to someone "Yes my dear, but in the morning I will be sober and youll still be ugly!".
Im so sorry i havnt been around much this week guys, i logged in a few times when i could but to be honest just didnt feel like posting much at all. A very close friend of mine was in hospital having a hard time early this week then my life has just been a mess since the bombings. I had a good number of friends down there that day, and infact if it wasnt cancelled the day before, i would of been down in London at a meeting. The past fews days have been a nightmare spending all day at work ringing around, travelling and get prety damn upset at times so i apologise for everything. Life is starting to return to normal now that the last of my missing friends managed to ring in yesturday morning but too many close calls to just shrug it off.
Give mea few days and i should be back on the ball but just need a little time to myself and my woman to get my head straight.
My heart goes out to all the innocent people effected

Do what needs to be done. The forums will still be here when you get back. I hope everything turns out all right.
