If you want to be part of a mature community, then yes.

If you're counting skill points like they're calories in reverse and want to be useful in PvP (or even non-hunting PvE) then probably not.

Actually i have to defer....... as long as you pick a combat Profession suitable as a stand alone you can do semi well in Pvp. For example I am currently a Fencer/Ranger and I can still Pvp just fine. Learn your class and your strengths and weaknesses. You may have to invest in equipment more then the average Pvp template. But what it really boils down to is having a profession that is both fun and rewarding for you to hold onto. I enjoy Ranger because I have always played the Outdoorsy Solo type. But that may just be me

You said it. I have only just begun the Ranger profession and I am throughly enjoying it.

That's because you've only just begun. Give it time.

No need to be cynical. Ive mastered the Profession. Left it. Then came back several months later and am throughly enjoying regrinding the Class. The Ranger profession as a whole is very rewarding if it suits your style of play. Not everyone can play a Ranger. The same cant be said for Rifleman No need to shoot him down because he found a class he actually enjoys playing.

OK, it's *possible* to be good in PvP while also being a Ranger, but the two are completely unrelated. Your Ranger skills won't help *you* in PvP (they MIGHT let you help a strike team by scouting ahead with /areatrack, assuming everyone's outside like a dumbass)

Actually I find my Terrain Neg Skills to help alot....... My boosts to Burst Run help me as a Melee....... and when the situation calls for it I can track down Imperial's while raiding. Ranger may not give any actual "pvp skills" besides Player track (if you can even call that a Pvp Skill). But it also just depends on how you look at it. Having the "1337ess" Pvp Template can me sh*t if you dont know what your doing. I just happen to be skilled in the use of my Fencer abilities and my knowledge of my Template and what im capable of.

If your looking at Ranger to make you better at pvp. Youve come to the wrong place. If you are looking at Ranger to supplement your pvp ability then you might be pleasently surprised at the profession as a whole and what it has to offer now and in the future.

Is it worth it for what? PvP? Certainly not.

But for picking up chicks, it's perfect. They go crazy for my uber camping skills.

hehe - never have to pay for a hotel room with ranger

But seriously, I think it's a great profession -- it's relatively functional at the novice level and all the way up the trees (not like some profs. where you really need to be master to be effective). There are probably some who would disagree with me though, and I can understand their reasons -- I would say try it - go up the tracking tree first and see what you think (that's where most our harvesting mods live + it has areatrack, which is a great asset in hunting things you can't get missions for). Then, decide if you want the rest.

Going just off the thread title: No

Having read what you and everyone else said in the posts: No

Nothing is great about being a ranger. Master scout and be done with it. That's all we use anyway, master scout stuff. Scout traps, mask scent, more/less the same harvesting mods.Occasionally /areatrack comes in handy and being able to trap rancorsis nice, but that's about it. If you want to PvP hardcore, don't pick up Ranger. If you want to PvP at all, don't pick up Ranger. If you want to-- DON'T PICK IT UP.

Bleh, that's just me though. Kettemoor has an over-abudance of rangers and it was kinda getting annoying to me, as they all sold stuff for like 4cpu and caused me to have to work 239423254322123456678403x as hard to make any cash. Seriously though, if you want to be a ranger to be a ranger, go for it. If there's any other reason, it's just not worth it. And what I said earlier doesn't mean you can't PvP.

Since the nerfing of solo groups, I have been looking for a way of making money in the game again. And i detest crafting. I have mastered ranger before, but this was WAY before any of the tracking skills and new adittions were added. With the addition of Veghash and harvesting droids, is it worth it to get Master Ranger?

Any help is appreciated.
