Thread: Ranger correspondent feedback

what the hell is up with this forum?? have you guys really not noticed that the devs haven't changed anything in ranger since the beginning?Swoops bikesnow make Terrain Neg a mute thing, traps suck, skill points for the profession are way out of line for what you can actually do, camps are really a joke anymore unless your tryin to pull a swoop out,You harvest maybe twice as much as a BH who got scout by accident on the way up. Come on guys! someone say something to the devs instead of them fixing all the combat professions who have been whining about themsleves cause the can't pwn each other daily.... please tell me ranger is gonna get some fixes soon... because i reeeeally loved bein a master Ranger.(and would like to again)...but im afraid im gonna have to keep it dropped till they can give me some fun.... (i.e. pvp!!! --or more advantage in pve.... maybe some more harvest? or camp things to do?) who knows...but this kind of thread needs to get answered... badly
I'm asking the same question why havn't we stormed on the powers to be in getting the outdoorsman propsal completed? We are shouting 'focus' is on Dev. but our focus may need to turn toward the bosses who makes the Dev. choose what direction they take in updates. Game content will come in time far as the storyline like the crackdown with lord Vader isAwsome, to travel into coronet and see storm troopers garrison everywhere. I can't wait for story content. I need to make my Avatar stronger (my chosan profession) for these up coming storylines. It's part of my 'solo Roleplaying', whew-I keep hitting glass ceiling in my art of play. I wish people would give better reviews toward this game maybe more buyers means hireing more Dev. I'm hoping because I'm addicted to my imagination of Star Wars.
My concern is Rangers completion!
Psssss......Would you guys donate money to hire our very own Ranger Code Monster? hehe Who cares if Sony has billions we have an addiction to feed and its hungry.

Can't possibly be a coincidence. I think they're secretly planning to flush us all into deep space so they can't hear us screaming anymore. Though... I dunno, they seem to be tuning us out pretty well so far.
It's all those other professions drowning us out.
What is/was the reference to Outdoorsman?
What is SmtP?
Okay.. my observation. You have to master SCOUT to become a RANGER. Okay, that is understandable but that should make RANGER much more impactful than other classes that need not master their pre-requisite class. For example, Creature Handler. Even as a Master Ranger I would be pretty hard pressed against a moderate level CH. True, my traps would work against the pet but not the CH. And if he has 2 or 3 pets available I could really be hurting. Now let me point out another, Rifleman. You don't have to be a Master Marksman to be a Rifleman. I'll be dead quick. With all those skill points used there should be more results. It COULD be that some kills that are just steps up in effectiveness should be replaced with new skills. For example, instead of a camp site improvement why not have "alternating" hunting blinds starting in scout. It would start off like a weak conceal more effective if others are fighting animals while the scout hides behind the blind. It would get more affective higher in scout and in Ranger it could be big enough for others to hide behind. At master ranger the player could have a "sleeper blind". When the ranger "logs" out in the wild he can do so in a sleeper blind. When the player returns the ranger is still in a sleeper blind and "protected/concealed" from creatures that may have spawned in the area that would be potentially dangerous. There should be a significant skill "variety" for a ranger over just being a super scout.
I've heard that there has been lots of talk regarding traps. so I'll add my veggies to the soup. The scout should have traps specifically for creatures that become MORE effective for the ranger who makes and uses them, the ranger should have traps focused on affecting PCs/NPCs. There are many trap ideas that could be developed for this purpose; area effect musk grenades that make characters cough and choke (could delay fire/attack rate), a poison dart made from resources from some of the creatures that poison normally (similar effect but less duration), and the simplest to explain is the one trap that entangles (has the blue static visual effect) should be deployable against PCs/NPCs as it stands. Ranger could also get a "fencing" skill, if the ranger can keep concealed he should be able to put a fence up around a lair area that would impede creatures from leaving the area to get to attackers or just to contain creatures that are a potential danger from advancing on campers.
Another idea for the ranger is to either increase the burst run skill duration OR depending on the rangers level have the "tired" duration after burst run be shorter. But realistically it should be easy for a ranger to run from like Tyrene to Coronet on a burst run with the normal "tired" length afterward or even no "tired" length afterward.
I'll shut up now.
Done now.
OH! I found the Outdoorsman proposal and have read. I just don't like the name I sorely hope the Devs don't change us from Rangers to Outdoorsmen.

Ranger needs attention, we all agree.
1. I think that area track should include an option on the planet map that shows a general area of a higher concentration of certain animals.
2. Also an in game data base of animals on certain planets, and what resources they have would help greatly.
3. And a way to check how good resources are in-game would help give the ranger an edge, and be the guy that everyon turns to for their hide, meat, and bone.
4. There should be more bonuses to higher camps, especially since they are taking away the need for camps when calling bikes and pets.
5. Traps that work at least a little on humans.
6. Camo kits should be able to be used by everyone, but only Rangers should be able to make them. But when a ranger applies the camo it should be more effective.
7. By giving rangers more tools to gather materials more efficently, The few of us who choose ranger will finally havea solid source of income, and they will become a valuable member to any hunting party. As of right now, rangers don't give much benifit to a hunting party, other than nice looking camps.
Numbers added by yours truly for easier reference.
1. Uh, sure. Sounds vaguely workable. I think I like the suggestion about a tool/interface that someone else suggested recently better, though.
2. Mm. I think the effort:effect ratio makes this not worthwhile, but it'd be cool, with the caveat that it was experience based.. You have to examine the critter before it goes into the database, and possibly you need to refresh critters every so often, lest they fall off the database. That way it's less of a "Tool" and more of a memory sort of interface.
3. Nah. Not justifiable. Why should I be able to tell you that the Lok Avian Meat is good this cycle, when I've not been there in a month?
4. Agreed. I'm hoping for the modular camps from the Outdoorsman proposal, myself.
5. Negotiable. I'm on the ultimate hunter side of the fence, but one or two anti-NPC trap wouldn't piss me off any. Hell, we just need better traps overall. Once again, refer to the Outdoorsman proposal.
6. Absolutely not. Camo kits are ours. They should be a tad bit more effective than they are currently, and should remain effective against NPCs, but that's it. You want camo'd? Become a Ranger, or get to be friends with one.
7. See the half-dozen threads about harvesting. Maybe an additional 20-30% more than current (so we're 150-160% of equivalent scout levels) and the ability to harvest all 3 resources would please me no end.
Un-floated? Some of us are still a bit hopeful here, you know ![]()
Anyway, we need some sort of Dev post uptop besides the Correspondent one, so that we can pretend to feel loved ![]()
