I just became a Master Ranger about 2 weeks ago and i love it. I came into this game knowing i was going to be a Ranger. I also have been reading this forum for a very long time waiting till i got the full feel for master ranger. I have to agree with the Trapping suggestions Rangers should be one of the best support elements in the game, our traps should work on everything NPC's, People, Creatures, Traps are Traps we should be the best hunters. Now i'm not saying we should be able to take out a BE, or Commando in a city one on one that's crazy. But I do think we should be able to take out even the strongest of enemies in our natural environmet "Which is the Wild" we should be able to do this using our traps and all our other skills in conjuction with the weps skills we have. I am a Ranger/Pistoleer I love Pistoleer it could use a little work but overall i think it is a great weps profession. I do have to touch on what someone posted.

I think we should have some kind of advantage in PvP, Not to say we are Expert Fighters but we are hunters we should at least have some kind of PvP skills that makes us just as unique as a CM, they have posion, Ok so give us something we can make out of bone, hide, and meat. I mean we are master outdoors men and women we should be able to use certain meats and resources to make posions or even meds. So far as forage, we should be able to use those fruits and stuff we forage as a componet of our traps or make other uses for them other than a ready made little buff that last about 50secs. I hope every reads this including the Devs. I know that in time things will get better for us "We Rangers Have To Give this Some Time"......

To the brotherhood ofRangers around the galaxy "We have one of ther best professions in this game we are not as broken as say SL, or even Commando, we are just improving on what we already have so let's be thankful for what we have know it's only gonna get better".......

"Yes i think I am coming back."

Please note that these changes have been in the works since the middle of August...

  • So you might want to hold off making any long term plans (by say dropping any other hard earned skills), until all the changes are implemented.

Guys,

These changes are in the works, but they aren't high priorities. Don't expect them until after player cities and mounts are in good shape.

Traps don't last long enough to get the 2 or threeoffme while I'm on the run. As soon as I throw a trap the others spawn on me. Then the trap I threw breaks and that one is on me. Burst run to get away and the lair respawns . Traps only worked for me at low lvls . Crazed Durni and such. Not effective for high levels. I have to throw about six and by then I am too far from the lair unless I move around the lair.

Is Rifle a badchoice for Ranger ? Seems as tho Brawler would be the best as I can't shake them anymore and allways have them right in my face.

Why is it that a Brawler or a CH pet can pull one from the lair but a Ranger with a Rifle gets them all ?

Former master ranger, just surrendered the skills. Taking smuggler pistol and novice commando to go with my master pistoleer, i'll be a better hunter then and have some pvp ability to boot.

Take your suggestions now after 4 months of release that i've waited and please shove them where the sun don't shine SOE. This isn't a star wars ranger, it's deer hunter 2.0 against dinosaurs. Since it's star wars i'd like to have a palce in the WARS part of it too, like the antarian rangers not like the park ranger.

Signed,

Hello there. I am going to leave this post in hope that some developers are still reading on what needs to be done with Ranger. I am also convinced, if Ranger is upgraded, it will help draw people/points from other professions (ie commando, pistoleer, etc.). Some of what is below is probably repeats for variants from other previous posts.

- Traps: Ranger traps should effect people do. They work like "grenades" anyway, so why not just allow them on NPC' (and even players in PvP). Sonic Pulse and Flash bomb already sound like they should effect everyone (not just creatures) so just make it so.

- Hunting: Ranger hunting should have some ranged attack accuracy bonus or damange bonus. Not as good as what you would find in, say Pistoleer, but if you are good at hitting animals, you should be good at hitting anything. This will help draw some players into Ranger I think.

- Special Ranged Attacks: Ranger's maybe could have some minor special attacks. Something akin to the "ranged support" in Marksman, but a fair variant. Such as a shot that actually freezes an opponent in place (like warning shot but does not cause target to flee and works on all critters and NPC's). This could replace the minor "creature to hit" bonus.

- Camping: Ranger camps should be broadaned or improved. Some ideas. Add other crafting stations, such as a general and weapons (especially since rangers need a general to experiment on camo kits). Also, for the two "field base" camps, allow entertainers to heal BF when in these types of camps. This will increase the demand for Rangers in groups. Perhaps even make master scouts (or master scout campers) able to use purchased Ranger Camps.

- Tracking: Master Trackers should get a WAYPOINT created for the creature they select in the /areatrack list. This is a convenience item, but would sure help in navigating.

- /conceal: Camo should NOT break in combat. Maskscent, ok I can understand that, but cammo is applied and should time out only, not be dropped in combat. This makes no sense. I also think, from observation, that /conceal seems to break as often as /maskscent. I also note that the "nose" icon appears with /conceal also, which seems odd. You can shorten the time limit of a camo application if that helps, but it should not drop in combat (even though once your target "sees" you, the benefits againstagainst target will be gone, it should not drop).

-special defense: I read this elsewhere and liked it, so I am repeating it. If rangers areknowledgeable withanimals, they should get a defense or dodge bouns or something. They would know animals well enough to avoid getting mauld so bad, etc.

- CH "bonus": This is a reach, but perhaps Rangers should get a creature level bonus for handling Pets. The new proposed limit is 10 for non CH. Perhaps Rangers should get a +1 pet level per Hunting skill box (with 2 at master) for a total of +5, as a Ranger should, in role playing theory, have some animal affinity. This will allow Rangers to use better mounts than non-Ranger non-CH's. This also may help CH's decide to also take Ranger skills, which seems "natural", as a CH would get a slight benny for being a Ranger too.

I do hope some passing developer will note this post and take it to hart. I am already dumping traps and camping (and Master Ranger asperations) because Ranger right now just does not "do it right" to make it a viable skill to master vs. others. Even trying half of my changes would get be back into heading up the Ranger trees.

"Ranger hunting should have some ranged attack accuracy bonus or damange bonus."

We do... That is what the Creature-to-Hit bonus is.

Your other points are valid and have been brought up before...

  • Many of them were in the latest Report to the developers actually.
