Hey, ive had this idea ive been tossing around for more gameplay varation. tell me what you think.

Master marksman 4/ 4/ 4/ 4/
Master scout 4/ 4/ 4/ 4/
Rifleman 3/3/0/3/
Ranger 4/ 0/ 4/ 0/
Bouty Hunter 4/ 0/ 0/ 0/

Or you could go 3/0/0/0 BH and rifleman 4/3/0/3

Im bored, been crunching out the all around hunter type of character. Animals, or man, no difference. Best thing i can see as so far, is you'll be using very SP and have zero left over.

What do you think?

Could you run me up a list of pro's an cons for that mate? Just make sure you've tried the template first, we need to be able to give sound advice to people asking for it.

Well, i was asking for advice, not giving it. Maybe i should have given my post a thread of it's own. *shrug*

Near as i can tell the big con is not having a weapon totaly mastered. Is this a hinderance? i honestly don't know.

The pro as near as i can tell, is being able to continue to harvest organics as a proffesion, maintain ability to camo yourself in both hunting citters, and NPCs in BH missions, and being able to be the all around hunter.

But then again, id be spread out all over the place, which might be a weakness in and of itself. I dunno, thats why im asking. For character, im split between being the outdoorsman, and being a Bounty killer, im a spagetti western fan, so if i managed to create my own Lee van clef or clint eastwood, id be grinning ear to ear.

This is currently my template

Ranger 0.3.4.0 (with enough xp to go back up to camping 4)
TKA 4004
Master Pikeman

Advantages:
excellent melee defense: +93
ranged defense in the 70's
tracking
good harvests
creature knowledge
terrain navigation
powerboost
force of will
Wound healing
Good damage with pikes
Great solo ability, buffed and unbuffed. (can take out a rancor with food buffs only)
Good "hunter template"
Pretty camps

Disadvantages
Lack of "master ranger" tag
(see pikeman weaknesses)
Limited damage types (kinetic/ electric/ energy)
+ to hit creature does not apply to melee
cannot heal damage, use stims

Thats what i have right now... and if need be, i can re-master ranger in 2 days

**Warning - Novice Ranger pointing something out**

Owen, you listed the Debuff Combat traps (glow-wire and wire mesh) under the melee profs, but not under the ranged profs (though obviously not wire mesh, but glow juice in this case). Any reason for that?

Granted it's probably easier for a Rifleman to conceal and snipe and just use snaring or rooting traps, but a carbineer is already about 40-50m in and a pistoleer is much closer to utlize their respective aiming bonuses, both could benefit from using the debuff traps.

Having a combat profession mastered largely depends on the class. With TKA unarmed hit3 is pretty nice. If your gonna have most of the skills in it you minus well get the extra 5 or 6 for it. With pistols master is not necessary. Just an example. Get some speed, fan**edit**, and your good to go.

Right now I'm Ranger 3040, BH 4324 (and I can't WAIT to drop BH, btw). There are actually a few good things about it. LLC devastates most creatures with lightning single 2 and having and AOE version of that would allow you to rip through some nasty mobs. The Carbines line get really, really fast around Carbines III, and with a healthy combination of Fire Knockdown and legshot2, you can take down any critter well, especially due to the multiple damage types available (energy, acid, heat). Same with pistols. Blind shot's a great mind shot (since it draws of the BH's action pool, which is healable, rather than the mind pool, like rifleman and offers the same 3 types of damage.

drawbacks are a limited amount of Ranger skills. plus, you have to admit you're a BH. yuck. plus, no melee defense.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Phenix i just dropped my BH skills yesterday to go Sword/Ranger (thanks to this thread actually). And LLC2 was making my life easy for hunts. You would do up to 5k damage and it was really fast. And you could fall back on carbine and pistol if they were resistant to electricity. The other dabbler template I liked was Flame 4/tracking 4. Once you got past that stupid unknown why its there seven second lag for the attack to start. You could hit for up to 11k damage or in flame cone 1 hit all for 5k. I was knocking out lairs nice and quick. The downside if that stupid lag when starting up the flamethrower.

Hi, Owen

Nice idea and good post. I only would like to give my opnion on one of the Rifle and Fencer "cons".

> Rifle has not "High HAM Costs", he has "High Mind Cost" or, at least, I would say that he has "High HAM Costs and Extremely High Mind Cost".

> Fencer is not "High Mind Cost". His specials take huge amount of Action or Helath depending on the type of weopon you use (sword/stunor gaderiffi) but not Mind (or not the one that takes most).

It is just my experience with these two prfessions.
