except Glow wire traps seem to give you XP almpst everytime you throw them. I can throw 5 at a War Gronda on Corellia and have 4 give me XP. Shoot to make them bleed, throw 5 traps in a row, switch to carbine to get the darn carbine XP outta the way. ![]()

I got my trapping XP for Trapping IV for the Scout tree using Wire mesh traps on Desert Eopies...which was the first branch of Scout that I got to IV because of that...currently at 3/4/2/3 Scout and my problem is getting scouting XP. I have a hard time finding a group, cant solo much that is worth decent scouting XP even though im working on Novice Rifleman at the moment too. Been using Mask Scent everywhere I go and it doesnt help that much either.

Oh man, just go to Endor, mask scent up, get on your speeder, and explore. It doesn't even need to feel like a grind. Collect eggs, or visit POI's, catalog creatures for later hunting trips, stuff like that. You'll get so much scouting xp you won't know what to do with it all.

simple question, simple answer... Dathomir. I just get doc buffs and toss glow juice traps at brakasets for 300+ trapping xp a pop. If you have a pet, go after baz nitches. I did all of the trapping in ranger in 2 nights of casual play.

Snorbals, Snorbals, Snorbals. I think they give 500-800 trapping XP each, and you can sell the leather to armorsmiths and tailors. Just make sure you make crates of EVERY kind of trap - yes, even the stink bomb - and throw every single one. I was getting over 3k of XP per Snorbal.

I'm getting 3k of xp per vynock at the moment, I just buff myself (doctor on the side) and just start throwing a crate of glow traps at it, it does no damage but each trap gives 70xp, I'll start on the bigger critters when I can actually make the buggering things stick more reliably.

GoldMemberBria wrote:Actually, this is not an informed comment, and this is why it is important to use certain traps and not others if you're doing it for xp. If you throw wire mesh traps you can keep throwing them and throwing them, it doesn't matter if your previous one landed or not, you're going to keep on getting xp. For stink bombs, you're absolutely right, but not for wire mesh.

I hope I dont insult anyone's intelligence.. but you do all know that if something is already affected by a certain kind of trap, then throwing the same kind of trap at it is pointless until the effects of the previous wears off.. don't you?
I am sorry, but I have witnessed the exact opposite... wire mesh lowers melee defenses.. and I get plenty of "Your trap had no effect" messages until those defenses come back up.
In addition, if you really are continually getting trapping XP for lowering defenses that aren't even there, then that would be considered exploiting a bug and I would be very careful about suggesting others do the same thing considering the latest developments in regards to practices of this nature.

Hrmm... just thinking about this a bit more.. and perhaps its a case where the effects of the trap are wearing off very quickly? Allowing you stream traps at the creature in a never ending fashion?
Hrmm.. some experiments are in order I can see!

Nope, that's not the case. For wire mesh traps, it gives you a very visible "melee up/melee down" message as the trap takes affect and wears off. You can keep hitting it again and again PRIOR to the trap wearing off. Not sure whether the affects of the traps are stacking in some fashion or whether it's just a no-op, but it's definitely possible to hit it with this particular trap at least prior to the affects wearing off.

My bad then, I guess all the trapping experience I got is just a figment of my imagination, lol. *shrug* have it your way.

I toss wire mesh all day long and miss VERY little. All wire mesh traps get me XP.

Well, you may well be right.
If you are... I would, as I said before, consider it exploiting a bug in the game and not suggest the method to anyone else. People are losing their accounts for similar minor actions. And then again, there could be some logical explanation why the Wire Mesh trap works differently than every other trap...only a developer could answer that for sure. Just hope they don't wait to answer AFTER they take other punitive action.
