Once you hit ranger, go to dantooine and throw adhesive meshs at grassland voritor trackers. They can't move to attack you because of the mesh, and each trap you land on them gives around 1k xp. The entire ranger trapping tree will take you about 20 minutes to complete.

The Kitten's Diary, Day 781: I have discovered a most delightful way of making life miserable for my captors. Yesterday, I ate the woman's precious begonia, and today I have dismembered the amaryllis in the bedroom window. She is furious over the loss of her darling house plants! I find it highly gratifying.

Interesting

I spend a lot of time on Dantooine, I'll get some of those adhesive mesh doodads knocked up tonight.

I have no idea how you're supposed to complete trapping without a factory

Well, you may well be right.

If you are... I would, as I said before, consider it exploiting a bug in the game and not suggest the method to anyone else. People are losing their accounts for similar minor actions. And then again, there could be some logical explanation why the Wire Mesh trap works differently than every other trap...only a developer could answer that for sure. Just hope they don't wait to answer AFTER they take other punitive action.

Dude, just admit you know nothing about trapping and call it a day, ok? First you tell us that all traps land the same. Wrong! Then you tell us that all traps can't be landed in succession ("I hope I dont insult anyone's intelligence.. "). Wrong! Then you tell us about a ficticious message you got while trying to land successive wire mesh traps. Wrong! Now you're telling us that since you used a less efficient (I could use other adjectives to describe it) way of gaining xp then the rest of us we are cheaters exploiting a bug? Oh please. Did it ever occur to you that landing successive traps that affect defenses might be a viable and intended combat tactic? Devote one player for example to landing traps before the timeout occurs and keep the defenses down?

I'm not even a grinder. I've been a ranger for a couple months now and have yet to reach master. But to suggest cheating... wow, that's completely out of hand. Do yourself a favor and give it a rest. You're just making yourself look bad friend.

You know.. I think I can go through 3 or 4 months of posts in this Ranger forum and not find anything as low class as this post. People come here all the time and are so surprised at how great a community this is and how little sniping goes on. You may have Ranger in your name, but you hardly exhibit the attitude that has made this community so tight and envied by others.

I initially merely suggested that perhaps some folks didn't know that state effects could not be stacked and trap XP was directly related to the successful hit of the trap's state effects. It certainly wasn't something that I was aware of when I was tossing Wire Mesh traps as a newb. You, and others corrected me in that there is ONE trap that this occurs on... the wire mesh trap. As this is the ONLY trap that anyone seems to observe this behavior on.. it seems like a BUG to me. Personally, I would prefer to just use the traps I NEED during my hunt than to EXPLOIT a BUG to GRIND to a level where I don't even need traps anymore, which appears to be YOUR tactic.

As for the cheating accusation... take a look at the other forums and see what some of the ridiculous things people have been banned or warned of banishment for. SOE has publicly stated that taking advantage of ANY known bug is considered an EXPLOIT and could be grounds for banning. YOU may not care enough about your fellow Rangers to protect them from this, and only care about showing everyone how "smart" you are by using an exploit to gain your Trapping XP, but I prefer not to do that. As all the other traps will not hit when the state effect the trap is already suppose to provide is already in effect, I would consider the stacking of Wire Mesh traps a BUG until someone from SOE tells me otherwise. As I said, there very well may be a valid reason. And in considering it a BUG.. then I would not recommend EXPLOTING that BUG to any of my fellow Rangers for their own welfare.

I really don't have a dog in this hunt, but the problem is that you are just plain wrong. As I indicated earlier in this thread, there are at least THREE types of traps (an maybe more) that can be landed on the same creature in quick succession. Those traps are:

  • Wire Mesh

  • Glow Juice

  • Glow Wire

I haven't tested adhesive mesh, but I suspect it can also be thrown multiple times in quick succession. If it was just one trap that had this effect, your suggestion that it's an exploit would have some merit. But the fact that three of them can be used this way (and they all have names that tie them together - glow and/or wire) suggests that it was an intentional design element.
