There might be more to keeping the game fresh than just adding high end content.
wth is a new player going to do to 'Adolescent' krayt? and who labeled that thing??? what an idiot, do they know what Adolescent means???
this is NOT new content, this is re-labeled content.

Anyone else look at these new beasts and think, "...Whuh?..."
They can't be tamed... they die in one hit usually... they drop nothing of interest... did I miss something? There has to be a point to these things, right??

The OP referred specifically to the following article:
http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Star%20Wars%20Galaxies:%20Bestiary%20-%20Naboo
clicky
which takes you to an article relating to Pigmy Veermok, Giant Fanned Rawl and Mutant Hermit Spiders.
"They can't be tamed... they die in one hit usually..." I don't think that refers to the Adolescent Krayt somehow...

Don't worry about not haveing a cold weapon. Us rifeman do, and we might as well not. A good crafted SG82 has a max damage in the 230s, Armor Piercing - NONE. So 12.5% of its damage would get through BEFORE any resists kicked in on almost every Krayt.
I used to have a krayt SG82 for krayt hunting (I think it used up 3 nicetissues instead of the 11 you need for a T21). If you're not speed capped, it actually can do quite well. Especially if you try it without doc/musician buffs as the HAM costs can be lower. And it can also be quite useful in the Geonosian Dungeon. Plus, it's nice to use a variety of weapons instead of sticking to the standard ones all the time.

Ya I got an SG82, even got some sweet tissues I might through at one. Its still not a great gun. Basicly something has to vunrable to Cold and Armored is such a way that either my bitchn Acid gun or my bitchn Energy guns won't do more damage... yup just about never.
I was hopping the Adolesent Krayt would be at least in between a Juvi and a Canyon, or something.

I posted else where about the creatures. They are not all lame. The tatooine Krayts I would love to see you drop on on shot. The ones on Lok are tough beasts except the Giant Langlatch. And the Rancor Pygmy is just as tough as any level 50 Rancor is is just smaller. The ones on Naboo are strictly starter animals and that kind of creature is need too, not just the ones we want. I haven't checked out the Vicious Slice Hound yet, so I can't speak to that one yet.

well, then i'm just gonna pick a bone with the Addy Krayts. Still haven't seen one yet, but i have not gone to the waypoint. But when someone says that it is basically on the level of a Giant, i wonder: "Did they change the definition of Adolescent recently?" because to me, using common sense here, an Adolescent would between a juvy and a Canyon(adult).
here is merriamwebster.com's definition of adolescence:
1 : the state or process of growing up
2 : the period of life from puberty to maturity terminating legally at the age of majority
3 : a stage of development (as of a language or culture) prior to maturity
2 : the period of life from puberty to maturity terminating legally at the age of majority
3 : a stage of development (as of a language or culture) prior to maturity
so why is an adolescent harder than a Canyon(adult)??

Well, I got a good look at it's tail end, and it seemed to be... erm never mind...
No, but seriously, according the stats on swgcreatures.com, the grand has 500k ham, which is more than the adolescent had (I think it had 450k), so my guess is that the adolescent is an adolescent in respect to the grand. This would seem to be borne out by the quote from the Friday feature, "While the canyon dragon is an impressive sight, it is dwarfed by the greater krayt dragon, a desert titan found amongst the endless dunes." To me this suggests that the "grand/adolescent," "canyon/greater canyon," "juvy/ancient" are three separate species of the genus krayt (or am I getting this backward?). At any rate, the adolescents are so called because they are wee versions of the bigger grand krayt.
Of course, there is a "greater" krayt too, so maybe they just lifted the prose from some other krayt description and didn't quite remember to give it the old search and replace....

^ sorry but when they all have heavy armor and 95% resists to everything but lightsaber(gee, is anything not going to be jedi-able???????), 50k doesn't justify a difference at all. 50k ham difference between an "adolescent"(450k) and a Grand(500k) really is not much of a difference at all.
its like, 'whats a million bucks if you got a billion?', know what i'm getting at here?
and on a side note. I truely KNOW now, first hand, that this game is SERIOUSLY SCREWED UP when i see 1(one) person soloing ANCIENT Krayt dragons with a ........flamethrower..... This person was killing ancients at about 1 every 20minutes. The ancient wasn't doing ANY REAL damage to this person.
i know this is not big news to a lot of folks, but i had not yet seen such a blatant example of p!ss poor coding in my playing time. it really sickened me. but i could not get mad at the player, and i wasnt. They were just making use of the sytem provided to them.

Well, 50k means one is bigger than the other, so maybe that's enough for the designers.
As for the resists, well they really don't measure size. After all, creature babies have the same resists as their parents, don't they -- they just have less ham. Now, I could be wrong about this, but I remember scouting babies for CH's back in the day and one of my jobs was to /examine the baby and see what its resists and special attacks were -- you could tell this from the baby without having to examine another adult.
But in my book, it's enough that they are taking time to add new stuff. Besides these new creatures, they've also added three new ground quests (that is, aside from the new story arc), which to me represents significant progress given their past record. The last series of non-space, non-jedi quests that were added to the game was the Tatooine quest revamp back in, when was it, Jan. of 2004. Oh wait - they did revise the hero quests shortly after that (maybe, April, May 2004?).

today i went to see the mutant hermit spiders...as an aspiring rifleman, my first memories of Naboo was running into a nest of Hermits, and having a blast fighting them off with my trusty E-11 rifle....so naturally i decided to go take a peak at the mutants...
I was hoping to find giant 8-legged freaks with mega HAM, and would bring back the joy to hunting spiders....but what did i fine, much to my dismay??? An even crappier version of the normal hermits, i used SS2 and took out 5 at once...i was disapointed.
But..
I guess that these are designed for the newer players, to get them out exploring, instead of sticking to there original city, and getting bored..
And also, now that EQ and WOW have been around for a few months...people are beginning to get burnt out, or bored of them, and are starting to look at other games, i think the devs are playing there cards right, by releasing all of this new material, to hopefully draw some of there lost clients, and bring in new ones. Recently i have spoken with numerous people who left the game ages ago, and are now getting back into it, and are enjoying it to! And there are more new players joining everyday, just go to some of the remote starter cities, there have been groups of noobs gaming in there own groups, seperate from the rest of the comunity, now that they are starting to progress in there professions, they are starting to explore more, and contributing more to the community.
I cant wait to explore kashyyk, some say that it will be a carbon copy of endor only with taller ewoks...i disagree, the devs did a beutiful job of recreating some of the most famous planets in the EU, that i believe that Kashyyk will be a totally new, and original planet...except it will be a high-end adventure planet.
Even the mighty wookies did not fool around in the shadow-lands! i cant wait to face off with one of the new beasts.
