Thread: So, These New Critters... Are Lame!

Anyone else look at these new beasts and think, "...Whuh?..."

They can't be tamed... they die in one hit usually... they drop nothing of interest... did I miss something? There has to be a point to these things, right??

This is the greatest case of false advertising I've seen since I sued the movie The Never Ending Story.

Do you know how bad you have to screw up to get computer nerds to leave a Star Wars game?

Don't know if it's fair to just write stuff off as 'lame' simply because it's easy to drop and doesn't have uber loot. Might just be there to create a bit of interest, or they might end up tied in to some sort of quest. Who knows, eh?

Can't say I've noticed anything specific recently, but weren't there a number of new static spawns getting introduced? Did find a couple of 'pig sty' structures on Tat that I'd not noticed before, over near the Sennex cave, complete with little herd of zucca boar.

Could be they're listed with waypoints to get folk out to particular places? (Having a great time this morning hunting faamba up by the top rh corner of Naboo after going to check one of those wp at least)

Well, the new spawns on Tat. are no pushovers - I can attest to that. Also, not all players are veteran players or teh ub3r loOt3rs -- I see a lot of the new, smaller spawns as content geared for newer players.

I'm very pleased with these new additions - the devs seems to be gradually introducing new content here and there, filling out the planets with new creatures and new quests. Yes, this is a very slow process, but if they keep it up, then who knows what we could end up with.

IMO any addition of creaturs is worth it just for the sake of diversity. I like seeing different animals out and about on my hunts, I still wish for more spawns though...... eggs eggs eggs eggs eggs

Hi -swgcreatures.com has them as 95% resists to everything but ligtsabers (to which they are vulnerable), which seems correct. Swgcreatures.com doesn't have the ham posted, but if I remember correctly, the adolescents have 450k ham. They seem very much like ancients to me, but I've been krayt hunting all weekend, so I might be confusing them with ancients. We were hunting banthas out of mos virus (which on bloodfin is very close to the new spawn point) and we came across one. It took us about an hour and a half to bring it down -- it does the dizzy, knockdown special attack, so you have to watch for that if you'rea ranged, non-tank type like me. Basically, it dizzies and knocks down all the tanks and then comes charging for the ranged types....

I'm not an uber looter, and I'm not referring to new krayts, but stuff like the giant langlatch and giant fanned rawl. There is nothing special about them, and after two years I don't consider an old animal with a new name above it's head "content", sorry! I'm still hoping these new spawns will have a deeper meaning for some future quests or something, but until then they're just another animal that dies in two hits. (When I first read about them I had vague hopes that these were maybe animals that rangers could take trophies from or something rangeresque along those lines )

So, the problem isn't so much with the new creatures, more that you're a bit jaded after two years?

Don't forget there are new players arriving all the time and what they will see is diversity and challenge.

I bumped heads witha Giant Canyon Krayt yesterday and it would have taken 2 hours to kill him. My buddy (Master Pikeman) and myself were banging away and had to retreat a few times, but he was slowly getting hurt. I think it had 80% resists to everything, but sabers and Cold, cold was like 30% or something, but as a TKM I have nothign that did cold damageto attack it with.

These are the same creatures with different names, not new creatures. a new creature would be something more like this http://www.starwars.com/databank/creature/duck/index.html

QFE

There might be more to keeping the game fresh than just adding high end content.
