Is it me or are a lot of non-rangers posting here more?

Also, I see less of the regulars as well (JB, Cyros, Calc, etc...).

Seems a littel quiet in Rangertown I guess.

Although, there are lots of new Rangers speaking now.

Just my thoughts (such as they are...)

I ate a cookie yesterday.

I think an equal, if not greater, amount of people have been posting that they are leaving as those who are just now joining the profession, just to find out that it is not worth 140 skill points.

Well, I'm an old(ish) school ranger who has since gone on to freelance cargo delivery. And now that you mention it, I am posting more here since I left. But, to turn your observation on its head, I never saw YOU here before.

Rather see the new faces and new ideasthan a small packof bitter oldsters posting the same things over and over. At least the new faces have a chance at bringing us ideas that we hadnt thought of before.

Lots are still around

Plenty have just said "feck it, im in for the long haul" and stayed ranger. I dont blame anyone for dropping ranger, nor anyone calming down on posting simply because the combined handouts of our skills, disregard for our profession and overall sense of imcompletion of the CU has left a lot of people bitter, worn out and generally exausted in trying to make a difference.

Looking to the future though, we will still be here, and the ranger boards will still be the bestaround by far. That is, ofcourseuntil we get our uber revamp and all those jedi scummers come seekingL33Tnessrangerpower and guidance, degrading this forumwith their'oh my god, can it seriously be that low?' IQ ratings, their 'NEEED Ranj0R SKillzzz Macr0 Plzzz' postsand (how can we forget?) their 'OMG!!!!!! rangers can do something better than me? NERF WFT!!!' petitions.

Bah i hate jedis.

Anyway back on topic

Yeah, before the CU launched, after the alpha testersread the docs and found out ranger's lack of involvement or attention, ithought that thetime after the cu could be refered to as the great void for rangers and it seems thishascome to pass. We are truely in a slum but i think we will get out of it soon enough, and start seeing light on thehorizon.

Until then we need to keep focused, push out ideas anddemmand for ranger hats of all non-pink verieties.

I made master ranger six months after release and rifles after that. In that time, I have also mastered board lurking. Though I very, very rarely post, I do keep up to date on discussions here. There has definitely been a decline in activity here. At least it seems that way from my perspective.

SOE has left rangers to languish without attention, yes. But it isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. There are several other professions that are in equal need of attention, smugglers and squad leaders being the first to come to my mind. Does our stuff have a lot of bugs in it? Hell yes! However, I still find that many tricks of the trade are still useful and that's good enough for me to keep trudging along. There's no point in crying about the broken stuff knowing full well that SOE isn't going to come rushing to soothe our pains. Those of us who are still rangers obviously find the profession to still be enjoyable, otherwise we'd have dropped it by now.

Hi, new ranger here... Here's my take.

I haven't been around since the beginning of all SWG time, (well, kind of, I played when it first came out) but when I picked up SWG, I was unsure of what I wanted to be. After looking around, I came to the conclusion that ranger was for me. Maybe it's because the class is somewhat troubled, or maybe it's because the number of rangers is so low... I wanted to stand out. I'm working my way up to ranger, (it's slow, because I roleplay too much, and grind too little) but I'm enjoying it. But as I got further along in ranger, I saw something... Ranger isn't entirely gimped, as I was being led to believe from these boards. I can take creatures 40 CLs higher than me with careful trapping (ignoring the root from... noise makers.... yes, noise makers...) and when I brought that first creature down, I realized that I don't want rangers to change much. The sooner they get more mainstream, the sooner the player base gets flooded with rangers, and that means, more content and changes. Eventually, the Dev's claim that "NO KITING SHALL BE PERMITTED" will eventually come true, if enough players are rangers, and using that method, then content changes, and rangers are not what they are today. I look forward to noise makers being useful, and seeing rangers hold something over scouts, but I want the high point cost deterrant, to keep the rangers as unique as possible.

So to wrap my otherwise rambling speech together: I'm new, and I like rangers. These boards are misleading. I hope I'll never be able to see more rangers as I run through town than I see bounty hunters, or jedi, or anything like that. <3 being nearly alone.
