WE are an unfinished class, we were rushed, we are NOT ARTISANS. We have a place in pvp, it's been submitted to the devs. You have non idea what a star wars ranger is supposed to be if you think that we don't have a place.

Go away troll. We will not be relegated to pve only, perhaps you'd like BHs to be relegated to pve only, they do have their own missions, BHs are not supposed to be in the GCW and there are not player bounties, like that idea mr troll?

Bounty hunters and commandos seem to want to hog PVP as their own and nobody else deserves to be able to do it in their eyes. The gcw wasn't fought by a gazillion commandos and bounty hunters.

You can get bone at 26% or better energy resist. Master Artisan on Starsider and I've made 26% with decent but not great materials.

Ya you can get bone higher than that. Its just not worth my time to do it atm, for as much as I pvp.

Now if i start doing it more then ya I might go find some good bone and have an armorsmith craft some up.

The Ranger is to PvE what the BH is to PvP and what the Commando is to PvAT-ST/Structures (ok I made that last one up ).Going one on one against a BH you cannot expect to win unless you have a bit of luck, some very good tactics, or maybe a bit of both. If we were equal to BH's in PvP then all BH's would just become Rangers, why not? effective PvP plus all the other Ranger benefits. No, one class cannot have it all.

That being said there is no reason why a Ranger cannot be effective as part of a group in PvP, not just in reconnaissance, scouting, and tracking but also in the actual battle if you take a few combat skills.

If your game is to run around /dueling other players and you want to pwned them into the ground then I'd really suggest taking BH. You have 250 skill points, be as effective as you want to be for the style of play you enjoy.

Um if you guys havnt realized yet i am a master ch and trickshot pistoleer. Your cl50 pets are garbage crap compared to the commandos 14k damage. You are not realizing that as a master ch my gurreck get killed in one shot please dont tell me to go ch crap. And for pistoleer rifleman and crabineer being combt they are not as trikshot i do about 1to2k damage which is nothing. Go BH or commando if u wanna PVP cause well everyone else in PVP is. DOnt go CH not worth getting your full grown CL50 pet incapped in one shot.

i am not asking to be equal to a frigging BH in pvp! I want my skills to have some pvp application. And i don't recall soe ever saying we'd ahve no place in pvp. We are an unfinished class. I would like use to be finished not remain master animal skinners cause right now that's all we can do. Artisans use machines to get resources, is that all we are to be is a resource harvester? I think i'll pass.

I am doing fine in PvP and will doing even better once I get Torso Shot, see I am going Master Ranger and 0/0/4/3 in the BH line so yes Iwill be ablego toe to toe with them. It is all in your build, armor, and tactics guys don't expect to go toe to toe with a BH or Commando but at a distance you can do fine with rifles, a commando has to wait 8-15 secs with those heavy weapons he is pretty vulnerable at that time. Also wear a freaking helmet and eye shot won't hurt half as bad, read the BH boards they all laugh on how people never wear helmets. On the flip side if you made a Master Ranger with a little medic, CH, some marksman but no elite weapon skill you probably will die fast. Just my 2 cents.

WHAT Doesn't a commando on shot cap? an Atst oh what thats 2 shots

Read the sig "RADIANT" Is radiant a n00b server?.

Commando 4k hit on a rifle man can easy hit for 8-9k damage, last I checked they still hit for melee damage.

As a rifleman I am on the back side of the fighting. MY crystal snake is defensive only. All he has to do is distract or poison. Get that tka or brawler off my back long enough for me move and fire back. If not I die and he die's

OH Well

If your desire s to be a Ranger, you can forget PVP. You will be no challenge to other players and I'm telling you this by experience. Best weapon, best armor (or not), you will get your butt kicked in PVP. Despute me if you wish but following the Ranger ways is only good for PVE. You will be the best against creatures, most of the time. Crafters will love you for the resources and you will have money but don't duel anyone!

Whhhhaaat?! So what you're trying to tell me is that all those creature-to-hit, terrian negotation and camo skill modifiers do nothing for me in PvP combat? Well I'm be d4mned! Next thing you're going to tell me is that my master dancer character can't stand toe-to-toe with a BH! This is an injustice!!!

Hello Mr. Obvious welcome to the galaxy. Ranger isn't a NPC/PC combat class. It's abilities and skill modifiershelps you kill CREATURES. Thats why you choose that profession. Aye. Just a little tip, if you want to PvP you way want to steer clear of the following elite professions as well: Doctor, Dancer, Muscian, Chef, Merchant, Architect, Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, Droid Engineer, Bio-Engineer.

Hi Danny boy, me again

1. You could not begin to guess my age. Let's just say that I was probably jumping out of aircraft when you were a gleam in daddie's eye.

2. Lazy describes you, as you have not done any homework to realize your choices basically suck and it appears you are doing little if anything to improve, other than whine.

Master Marksman, worthless as a Ranger... specialize in one weapon instead, you save skill points and can get better bennies. The only good choice anywhere in (de)Ranged support specialist is warning shot, and that is simply not worth the skill points... wow, the animal runs off, to return 2 seconds later, hot dog. Carbineer... again, basically the most useless weapon in the game; less range than a rifle, less hitting power than a rifle, and the negatives at close range of a rifle. More range than a pistol (unless I am using powerups), slightly more power, but again, the minuses at close range outweigh those two minor bennies. And yes, I was a master marksman at one point, so I speak from experience. (oh, and I taught sniper IRL, so I do speak with a little authority) No medical skills either, good choice. Stim As are nice, for boo boos

3. As to who I duel. Anyone. That was sarcasm, but I guessed you missed it. You will not beat a BH one on one, not with your weapon. This is not some silly game with magic, this is not some silly game where your ex-Green beanie runs amok and takes cannon hits to the chest and laughs, this is fairly close to life...granted the stims and heals are good, but you gotta believe in bacta.

4.Our profession ain't broke, we rule at killing animals. Our bennies make us walking talking animal harvestors. Add in some decent combat skills, some medical skills so we can heal ourselves, and a dose of tactics - no running around like a chicken withit's head cut off, shoot fast and accurately, with a lot of power - and you may even win at PvP. No, you will not kill an ATST by your lonesome. No, you will not "own" anyone with a modicum of common sense and skill, but you can hold your own and with luck, you win at PvP.

There, now that is a flame --- take my advice or not -- but we are on the same server, start looking over your shoulder

The trapping line is what should be helping us in pvp. Booby traps are quite useful in warfare and we are one of two classes than can disarm land mines and if traps get implemented in pvp we will be the only class who can disarm them.

Trip wire traps, pit traps, traps that do damage to vehicles like at sts etc.... Watch the movies, read the books, the ewoks used RANGER skills to defeat a superior force( log traps, boulder traps, tripwires, nets etc,,,) The antarian rangers served a similar role in the clone wars. They were masters of the environment( a para military group who served the jedi and aided them in any way needed. Not skinning animals for them) We have a whole line that is already there that only needs to be added to which the devs are working on to help us in pvp, to give us a role in the gcw. Show me one ARTISAN that has to kill to make his living. We are not ARTISANS we are NOT resource harvesters, we ARE rangers! We have the skills necessary to be great guerilla fighters! Right now the problem is the code won't let use use those skills!

Creature handler isn't a combat class either but guess what they can sure let those critters bite you in half can't they? They have alot of pve ability and pvp to go with it, all we ask is that our best pve skill be applicable to pvp in some way.

You know if i wanted to be better than a BH i'd take some commando skills and then take some pistol skills and i could destroy any bounty hunter, i don't want to kill BHs, i want to lay booby traps and trick you into following me into them, as any true ranger would do, use the ENVIRONMENT as my weapon. Which i am happy to inform all you BHs and commandos isn't your field of study.

So i'm quite sure the devs will eventually get around to adding this ability in for us and i look forward to using my traps against you. Please come into my realm and die.

Exactly.

  • Advanced Trapping is the only line of Ranger skills that should have some more PvP potential. Disarming minefields was a nice little touch. Hopefully we will be able to locate and disarm PvP traps when those are implemented as well.

  • Tracking has some use in PvP for recon and espianoge. The Creature To-Hit bonusshould work on player pets.

  • Frontiering... maybe more usefull in PvP once we get some new bases.

  • Wayfaring would be nice if conceal took us off the radar.

If you're looking to add PvP potential to Rangers, look to Advanced Trapping.

I'd be happy if camo worked just for sittting still, so i could either hide from enemy trackers and patrols and taking me off the radar while sitting still and camoflauged, if i move or fire it reveals my position. Make it so it's no reusable for 45 secs and not useable while engaged in combat. This would allow us to do recon more effectively and to lay ambushes for enemy patrols. Element of surprise ya know?
