If your desire s to be a Ranger, you can forget PVP. You will be no challenge to other players and I'm telling you this by experience. Best weapon, best armor (or not), you will get your butt kicked in PVP. Despute me if you wish but following the Ranger ways is only good for PVE. You will be the best against creatures, most of the time. Crafters will love you for the resources and you will have money but don't duel anyone!

I don't if it is true or not that we fail at PVP but at least with my experience I have to agree. But then again I really don't care. PVP here is for the most part pretty lame. I like the huge battles that occur in the raiding parties but those one on one cheap little kills I see in cantinas or shuttle ports are just plain stupid.

I much prefer killing critters making lots of money and traveling through the galaxy.

Im just waiting for the day my master ranger skills can be used against pets. it seems strange to me that i forget all i know about creatures when they get a little name above their head. can you imigine hunting PC owned rancors, and trapping/killing/harvesting (just for kicks) them? that would give us some use in pvp. hell, we might even become valuable to somthing besides pve.

Do rangers get a creature to-hit bonus vs pets? and if not we should

Guys,

I do perfectly fine at PvP.

Granted, that has nothing to do with being a Ranger, and more to do with being a Rifleman, but hey - Rangers are nothing without their combat skills.

Dantana is correct, Ranger is not a PvP profession. Commando is, BH is, Pistoleer, Rifleman, CH... hey wait, is there any rule says we can't get skills in those categories?

QUIT WHINING. Go get a giant monster pet who will eat people or sit on em or crap 4 tons on em. Go learn a weapon skill beyond novice. Learn TK. Do something besides sitting on your lazy butt and sniveling about how you get beat in duels.

Currently I am Master Ranger, Pistoleer (0-2-3-2), Medic (2-0-4-0) and I have some skill pts left as I just dropped novice CH. Feel free to tell me I suck in combat, wanna duel? I have a winning record so far. Course I don't duel fully armored people with lightning cannons and particle beams and pets the size of New Jersey either (well, not anymore). I don't wear armor, or a shield, and I use only pistols.

For those of you that say...JB, it's cuz of the Pistoleer... well no sh*t Sherlock. And it does not hurt to have stopping shot when some beasties are running at you either. Nor do the bennies of ranged melee hurt when confronting the same beasties. And the ducking and dodging is both Ranger and Pistoleer.

Again, you are crying cuz you are lazy and unwilling to work to make yourself better... it ain't broke, you just didn't read the instructions.

Yes, this is a flame, suck it up. Hairdressing is looking for people.

Master Ranger... ah heck, the stuff is in the post

I think you are partially right about Rangers not being good for PVP now. But note that i say prastilly because if u attain the Mastr Ranger status, you get a +10 Ranged Defense Bonus as well as a +10 Melee Defense bonus MOD. These mods are one of the few MOD that actually work well in SWG and they do give some advantage in PVP. Yes having such mods is still not enough against Mindshot or Eyeshot, but you may also note that NO OTHER CLASS OR PROFESSION gets as much as Masters Rangers get for defense MOD.

Anyway i actually agree that we do need some more PVP bones. But I also must happily point out that such things are supposed to be on the way. PVP traps as well as CH pet trapshave been annpuced by our developer, which will mean that if we can trap CH pets that will give us an advantage as counter CH in PVP. Also If u check NRass's List, our good ranger correspondent, there are several PVP bones requested., like for example the ability to use conceal for PVP puorposes.

So I think that we what we shpuld do is to continue supporting Nrass job on getting these and all other improvements for our class. We have a very hard working Ranger Correspondent and i think that in order to get all the improvements he has gathered on the formal petition list, we must continue posting on bvetter ways or ideas to imporve the current ones, instead of whining on we are a bad class. If we actually succeed on geting also these improvements working, we will be better PvP'ers. The devs have laready thrown some bones to ass with camo kits ( although they still need some working) and areatrack, so there i sno resaon to believe that ifwe won't get our requestes fulfilled if we stay asking and giving ideas, helpeing Nrass on his job.

Even thoughtif we actually get our wishlist fulfilled ( at least a part of it) our profession wil get better on a overall basis, including PvP area., it is also true that Ranger will never be better than other classes in PvP. and i think that that is right, Rangershouldn't be better tahn for a example a BH in PvP.i think that it is supposed that aMaster Pistoleer willl be a better PvP'er than a Master Ranger, and i see nothing wrong with that. Ranger is not a PvP combat profession, its PvE combat profession, and even thoughit's outmostfair we should get our PvP bones ( conceal for PvP, traps for PvP) that doesn't mean we should become the best PvP class in the game, that would be unfair. There are enough skill pointsto master ranger and also get REALLY good on other combat class like Pistoleer for example, that is for those who want to be Rangers withgood PvP abilities. But if u want to be a badass PvP'er then Master another profession like Bounty Hunter or Commandoand not Ranger.

Perfectly fine Delta? What is perfectly fine, is this head-to-head with a BH or Commando? Can you put a dent in their armor, are you using a pet, what? Give us some insite on how to be a PvP Ranger, because I don't see it. Is that a hint, go rifle, forget my carbine and pistol and grab a long gun??? Sorry. Rangers are not PvP type characters and maybe we shouldnt be. Or have they made the parity between BH/Commandos vs Crafters/Rangers so high that we can not compete. Case in point, my guild was having a crafters meeting in my PA city, maybe 10 crafters/2 medics and about 4 warrior type players were in the city, we had advanced notice of a pending attack by a Rebel group consisting of 2 commandos/2 BHs/ 2 medics and 3 CHs, we were dead in less than 1 minute, never stood a chance. As a Ranger, I was very disappointed in my performance, I even had a stormtrooper pet. I will more than likely give up my Ranger status and back track to BH so I can atleast defend myself and help my guild when attacked...

I pvp fine as a rifleman/ranger vs a BH, it's all in the equipment you use.

JBMat, for your information, I am a Master Ranger (master scout/master marksman/master ranger) thats not lazy and I am a 0-3-0-0 carbiner, LAZY???? All those players you named that you dont duel, leaves crafters, so you are beating on crafters??? WHINING??? I am trying to get support for our profession, i wasnt looking for flames but considering your post I can tell of what age the comments came.

I'm sure I would do really well in PVP if I beef up my pistoleer skills and eliminate those "secondary" skills that take up a lot of skill points but I want for peace of mind.

Specifically, I would need to give up both Novice Artisan and Novice Medic in order to seriously beef up pistoleer.

Because I am unwilling to make that sacrifice, I'm not going to be particularly good at PVP. I have learned that I can run around really well and heal people... or be a target that the enemy engages while my beefier colleagues shoot them up.
