well first just because somebody dissagrees with something and writes that in a post doesnt mean that that person hasnt throughly thought the matter over. They just dissagree

second i too dissagree one thing i find people tend to do is think soley about their profession and how their one profession can be everything they dreamed. This can, in many cases, be a good thing. If a prof is sverly nrefed or has bugs those issues should be addressed and fixed and the prof. should be improved. That is how mmos work things get balanced . But if we suddenly think that rangers "deserve" enrichment and we get our way after days of complaining that makes rangers more powerfull than other profs. How do you think chefs would feel about the rangers getting prestiege classes.

Now you may be saying well thats their buisness to figure out, their the chefs, where the rangers. and i a gree with you, but thir not the ones asking for this change and what if some proffesions have no where to go after you master? then its an all out nerf war

and nobody wants that, do they?

Perhaps you should read some of the other profession boards. I posted this for all professions. This was not exclusively for rangers. NOW, can we get down to some constructive efforts here? If no one wants to contribute to this then no big deal. I will work out the details on my own. I just wanted to get the input of the community.

I understand what you're trying to do, but I'd rather they fix what we have and add a trap or two. 96 more possible mini-classes for the devs to @#$! up is just....ugh. But I do understand your intentions.

In this highly speculative topic I'd pick 'outdoorsman'

Simple reason:

Antarian Ranger: A No-No for me RP-wise. I'm imperial, I simply cannot be something 'protecting' jedi.

Combat Ranger: I'm not interested at all in PvP

Outdoorsman: Yes. I am a Ranger because I like hunting, being where other players aren't (can you imagine that there are players playing SWG virtually since launch and you end up in a discussion with them about the existence of Peko Peko nests? I had that a few days ago ) etc pp.

To all Rangers, I am collecting info on what type of Prestige Class you would like to see after Master Ranger. For example...

After achieving Master Ranger you have now opened the paths to:

  1. The Outdoorsman (Big Game Hunter)

  2. Antarian Ranger (possesses minor force resistances and abilities)

  3. Combat Ranger (master of guerilla warfare)

Those were just examples of ideas I had for the Ranger profession. Now that you hopefully see where I am going with this idea, I would love to see where you would like theRanger to go after achieving the title of Master Ranger. Any and all input is welcome, but please try to keep it CONSTRUCTIVE.

I believe I asked from the very beginning that people please be constructive. Like your mom taught ya, "if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all." Now can we please have some constructive input here? I will gladly answer any questionsthe community may have. And please dont insinuate that I was being rude. I responded in kind to a post that was rude in and of itself. To promote some hopefully positive feedback I would like to add something else to what I have already submitted.

1. The Combat Ranger Class would only be accessable if you possessed the necessary combat skills to accompany it. This would in essence be a hybrid Prestige Class. You would have to have a Master TKA, Fencer, Swordsman, Pikeman, Carbineer, Pistoleer, or Rifleman title to unlock this profession. I am thinking that maybe the Combat Ranger could offer more for the Ranged professions as opposed to melee. To balance this...

2. The Outdoorsman Class. Now hopefully the devs will institute a lot of what we know about the Outdoorsman straight into Ranger, but maybe they could leave some things to be attainable only in this specific Prestige Class. I am thinking that maybe this class favors the Melee fighters. And finally...

3. Antarian Rangers. Unlike the other two which grants more agressive combat tactics to each, this one would grant more defenses. Perhaps in the form of force resists and minor force abilities, and I do mean MINOR! Something like an increased areatrack on players and the ability to sense disturbances in the force so you can better locate a jedi. The Jedi, assuming Bounty Hunters become the Jedi Killers they all want to be, will need help in the future. They will need eyes in the back of their heads. Perhaps an Antarian Ranger can group with a jedi to help in their defense were a Bounty Hunter to find them.

Now, if I can add to what was already said in other posts. I am doing this in the hopes that the community will help shape this idea I had. Can I do it alone? Sure. But I want to hear from the community. I am going to go through with this whether you guys help or not. Pessimistic attitudes are going to get this nowhere fast. Yes, this may never even get seen by the devs, but does that mean we shouldn't try? I think it would be really slick if I came back into the game after a year or more hiatus and found that some of the ideas I put forth have been instituted. The chances of them instituting them is slim. This I know. But I would rather try and fail than to have never tried at all.

I think what we really need is another useless profession that branches from ranger that does away with the leftover 100 or so skill points that we have left when we master ranger. Otherwise I'll have to spend those extra 100 skill points on something useful, and we just can't have that.

ok so now for some of the pos crit

1. id pick outdors man, because...well its basically the reason im a ranger i like to hunt.
2. outdoorsman however is basically what Nrass and the ranger community proposed as a fix and it seems to me that fixing broken profs is easier and better than making new broken profs

As you seem to have difficulty understanding what I am trying to say and judging my emotional state throught TEXT, let me explain this as simply...as...I...possibly...can. This is directed at wonderwookie. not anyone else.

I was not asking which of the three you would like to see. I was asking what else a master ranger could do AFTER becoming a master ranger. Everyone on the other profession boards seemed to get this. Why is this so hard to understand? I even drew you a diagram. And I am so impressed that you are able to divine from what I said that I was angry at the other people. I don't recall having seen constructive criticism either. Merely everyone saying that they want ranger fixed. Well, duh! We all want it fixed. That was not what this thread was about. It was an attempt to see what other ideas were floating around out there. But people were so concerned as to how this might ruin the ranger profession and how it would affect how many skill points they would have, that nothing constructive was accomplished. I would love to be able to just end this whole thread as it has been nothing but a pain in the butt. What is sad is that other professions have chimed in that rangers should get something like this, but not a single person here could to that. Like I said before. I am disappointed. It is sad that I had to practically beg for you to be constructive. I very kindly asked for that from the beginning and I get people posting things like "nope, dont want it". HOW IS THAT CONSTRUCTIVE?! If you don't want it, then fine. But I didnt ask whether you wanted it or not. I asked what other Prestige classes could branch off of Ranger. How would you feel if you took the time to ask all the professions what their thoughts were on this and the one profession that you cared the most about gave you the least amount of feedback? I will apologize to everyone for bringing this topic up as I grossly misunderstood how you all feel about this profession. I thought you would care enough to be open minded to the idea and be able to think outside the box the devs have put you in. For one second, just use your imaginations and think how you would take the ranger profession if you had free reign to do as you wished. THAT WAS WHAT I WANTED. I wanted to hear what you all would do with this profession if you had total control over it. But the whole idea has been destroyed in my mind thanks to people like wonderwookie. Your judging me and telling me how I feel is insulting and your sarcasm in your last post was uncalled for. I give up. This is like pulling teeth to get some ideas on this topic. My time could have been better spent working out ideas with the people like the droid engineers and the creature handlers. People that were actually excited about the post and really ran with it. Flame me all you want. I could care less. There are no words to describe how disappointed I am in this feedback.

um. I gave you some feedback. I said it would never happen. I explained that it was a good idea, but that in essence, they aren't likely to go out on a limb and redesign the classes and the way in which you get skills. That's feedback. I then proceded to offer an alternate idea where, in essence, each class would have "Master Quests" like you proposed but the rewards would instead be in specific (and UNIQUE!) items. Like, for instance, a Creature Handler would go through the quests and get an unique pet that could not be traded or transfered. A Ranger perhaps could get a unique weapon or perhaps a unique housing deed (a hunting lodge?) or any number of things. That would be constructive criticism. I took your idea, critiqued it and tried to move it in a direction that would actually be possible. Sounds constructive (as opposed to destructive) to me.

Look, I can see you're pretty invested in this idea. The problem is you're trying too hard and you're pushing people around. Like it or not, you're being rude. I say that from reading your posts directed towards others and those directed to the community at large. I can understand that you're frustrated that everyone in the Ranger forum isn't going as gaa-gaa over you're idea as you like, and you'd like to see criticism that kept the main thrust of your idea, but that's no excuse.

The point is, just because you don't like the criticism you're getting doesn't mean it isn't good criticism. So far, the people in the forum are telling you it's a good idea, but we don't want it right now. We're focused on getting fixed, and right now, you're asking us to respond to an idea that is (although in essence a good idea) little more than a pipe dream. What possible criticism is going to change that fact? In essence, you're gonna ask the devs to change the way people get skills. That's kinda a big request seeing as they haven't even fixed some of the problems that have been around since LAUNCH.

But in the hopes that you'll accept this feedback and not ask for more, I offer the following suggestions:

1). The Big Game hunter would recieve additional traps that would cause a bleed effect/poison or some form of DOT and would recieve additional amounts of resources harvested. As they progressed in the boxes, they would recieve a "crippiling strike" that would do high damage and would prevent the animal from using it's special attacks.

2). The Antarian Rangers often were students of the Force, sometimes Jedis that failed their training. Thus, as you said, they should gain certain immunities to force attacks. However, they have also sworn to protect the Jedis. As such, they should have an ability to cloak a Jedi from Bounty Hunters droids as well as a special camo pack to remove a TEF. Perhaps also the presence of a Antarian Ranger would have a positive effect on a Jedi (faster Force Regeneration?) Antarian Rangers should also recieve an ability like "center" or the meditation that TKA's have that would represent their connection to the Force.

3) Combat Rangers should recieve attacks that can be used with any weapon. These would represent our knowledge of the world around us. Effects such as a "poison" that could be put on the blade of the weapon or somehow used with a ranged weapon, as well as attacks that showed our proficiency with creature knowledge (such as a blinding shot) would make use of our knowledge of animal physiolody and could be used in PvP and PvE as well. They would also get a bonus to the /conceal skill

So there's some feedback that I assume is of the type you are looking for.

The only problem I forsee is that a lot of people think some of this stuff should be a part of Master Ranger. I know I think we should have special attacks that can be used only against animals such as the "crippling strike". I also would like a DOT attack and some type of PvP skill.

But all that's besides the point. What is important for you to understand is this: your idea is more than like never going to happen. That's important because if other people are like me, they're pragmatic. They don't want to go chasing ideas that won't happen. So perhaps that's why you're seeing less feedback thatn you would like. But what you fail to realize is that even feedback like "I don't want that" is constructive. Why? Bescause ifNO ONE wants it, you trying to push it on us is destructive to the Rangers as a whole. So take those "I don't want it" responces and the "all I want to do is get fixed" responces and accept that THEY ARE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK.

and like I said in the first post, you need to relax. This thread isn't by any means a long or extensive one. You aren't receiving hundreds of people saying "shut up" or anything. Actually, besides a little rudeness from both sides, this is a pretty mild thread. A lot of people are saying that it's a good idea, and for that, you SHOULD be happy. I'm pretty guarded about saying stuff is a good idea unless it really is, and you're idea is good. Impracticle and unlikely to be used, but good none the less. Most ideas on the boards (on ALL boards) aren't that good. They're not unique or they make one proffession much better than the others or they're trivial and self-centered. This isn't any of those things. You should be happy with that.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

This is certainly turing ugly.

My feedback? I don't want anyhting after Master Ranger. Elite-elite professions do not interest me. I, like most others want the devs focusing on existing issues. If we convice them to add new profssions, all the old ones get neglected. We are alreadt getting neglected, do we want to add more work to distract the devs? I don't.

That is basically all there is to it. I don't want to split the resources we have (i.e. the devs) anymore than they are. Also, I would rather see enhancements to this profession instead of sticking them intoa new one.
