Thread: Beyond Master Ranger?

To all Rangers, I am collecting info on what type of Prestige Class you would like to see after Master Ranger. For example...

After achieving Master Ranger you have now opened the paths to:

  1. The Outdoorsman (Big Game Hunter)

  2. Antarian Ranger (possesses minor force resistances and abilities)

  3. Combat Ranger (master of guerilla warfare)

Those were just examples of ideas I had for the Ranger profession. Now that you hopefully see where I am going with this idea, I would love to see where you would like theRanger to go after achieving the title of Master Ranger. Any and all input is welcome, but please try to keep it constructive.

It's an elite class. I am thinking beyond Master Ranger. Any input is welcome here guys so long as it is constructive. Be as creative as you want.

I'd also like to add...

Perhaps if they are extending the professions out in the SE (Space Ranger? We get a cool jet pack?) but I don't see them even considering this for a long, long time. I would like to see things in SW:G that have been hitherto engored like Antarian Rangers, very much so in fact, but there are many, many things they did not put into this game that you would think should be.

Nope. Just someone trying to contribute to the community that happened to do a little bit of research. By the way, you saw that I mentioned Antarian Ranger in the above post right?

Reyune,

First tell me how you expect us to pay for these "After Master Ranger skills".

I was under the impression that N'Raas's Outdoorsman was the vision for the current elite profession. Personally, I'd like to see Ranger transformed into that vision instead of adding an elite-elite profession such as you propose.

And to come back to why I asked how we are going to pay for this, it's simple, if it costs skill points then my answer is I want NOTHING after master ranger, we allready have too few skillpoints to be an effective Master Ranger in combat. I'm almost Master Creature Handler with my Ranger and I have points left for pistols 4 in marksman together with novice medic. My pets take the hits but it's still my pistol that is doing the most damage.

If there would be a system to trade in Ranger XP for your proposed elite-elite skills then it might be interesting but investing even more skillpoints in Ranger is a definate no no, unless we get more skillpoints somehow but that would be bad since most would master only combat professions.

So until there's a defined method on how to pay for these skills I vote for nothing after Master Ranger.

Sorry, no. I'm not for anything "After" Ranger. Ranger needs to be fixed, not relegated to a middling stepping stone.

The problem with implementing an elite-elite that everyone can enjoy is that you have very little skill points left to work with after ranger, additionally master ranger needs to be made more usefull.

You're putting the chicken before the egg. Before ideas are discussed for the specifics, you need to present the basic design idea for the Prestige Class. Right now, Master Ranger is as high as you can go, and there's nothing in place for any change in that area.

I like the idea of eventually getting more skill points that apply only to a Prestige Profession, it's interesting. But as far as I've heard, this isn't even being considered. Start with putting it on the table and more people will be eager to help generate ideas for the specifics, I'm sure.

"You're putting the chicken before the egg"

HAHA that's retarded. How about"You're putting the cart before the horse" instead? I'm getting my cliches mixed up.

*sigh* Well, let me explain the intent then, since no one can seem to simply have fun and use their imaginations and envision where you might go after Master Ranger. Basically, there are no skill point expenditures. This is how I envision it. Once we get to Master Ranger where do we go? Nowhere. We have a lot of skill points that just sit there with nothing to do with them. I want to put them to use.

Step 1. You get Master Ranger.

Step 2. You max out all the Scouting, Trapping, and Frontiering XP. I see this as a way to ensure that you stick with the profession for a little bit.

Step 3. After having maxxed out all your XP, a message is sent to you in game from various NPC's. Those individual NPC's would all be Masters of the Prestige Class you are about to learn about. For example, you are sent a message from a group of Antarian Rangers in hiding and you journey to that NPC to start taking missions from him to earn Prestige points which allow you to advance in your chosen class.

Step 4. You begin your quests to becoming a Master Ranger specializing in the Antarian Ranger/Combat Ranger/Outdoorsman way of life. You can only take x number of missions per day to prevent grinding. Once you start up one tree, you cannot embark on a new path until you drop the one you are currently training in.

Step 5. You attain the title of Antarian Ranger/Combat Ranger/Outdoorsman after having earned enough Prestige points and completing all the appropriate quests. Each Prestige class would have enhancements to each individual class, thus making us all a little bit more unique. Each Prestige Class is composed of a single skill tree. For example....

Antarian RangerCombat Ranger Outdoorsman

Box 4 Box 4Box 4

Box 3Box 3 Box 3

Box 2Box 2Box 2

Box 1Box 1 Box 1

Master Ranger

I hope this clears up any confusion. I merely want to see where you guys would see a master ranger going after becoming a master. What would he/she do to become more unique?

hmmm...

well first just because somebody dissagrees with something and writes that in a post doesnt mean that that person hasnt throughly thought the matter over. They just dissagree

second i too dissagree one thing i find people tend to do is think soley about their profession and how their one profession can be everything they dreamed. This can, in many cases, be a good thing. If a prof is sverly nrefed or has bugs those issues should be addressed and fixed and the prof. should be improved. That is how mmos work things get balanced . But if we suddenly think that rangers "deserve" enrichment and we get our way after days of complaining that makes rangers more powerfull than other profs. How do you think chefs would feel about the rangers getting prestiege classes.

Now you may be saying well thats their buisness to figure out, their the chefs, where the rangers. and i a gree with you, but thir not the ones asking for this change and what if some proffesions have no where to go after you master? then its an all out nerf war

and nobody wants that, do they?
