Thread: Spike in Ranger population
Not really any change on Flurry that I've seen; We are still few and far between. I did run into someone last night, and one of my crew just picked up his novice tag yesterday too. (and he hasn't even read 'the post' yet).
Good hunting to you all,
Jabourn.
Just yesterday I was asked about 10 (i'm not kidding either) times to train someone in the lower level Ranger skills. I think it could be either:
A) People from scout finally made it to ranger.
or
B) People see how useful a ranger could potentially become.
I had about 10 requests lastnight for Ranger training ... it was the first time in a few weeks.
It is my perception that the "bandwagoner" wont last long. The people who have been playing Ranger since release are the ones who *want to be a Ranger* because they liked the idea of the class since the beginning. The trend of bandwagon-jumpers wont last ... trust me.
I think that the new tracking abilities, /conceal, and possibly the tripwire trap (depending on how high it lands in the trapping branch) are going to drive a significant number of BHs to become BH/Ranger hybrids. They've already got the Master Scout prerequisite, and many of them probably have ample surplus scouting xp to buy Novice Ranger any time they want.
Call this selfish, but I rather hope that most of the new abilities gain their real usefulness toward the top of the tree. We already had to compete with hundreds of aspiring BHs for harvests and camping rights in groups, while we were working up through Scout; I don't really want to see dedicated rangers also become superfluous because every group we join already has three bounty hunters who can conceal, track, and trap for the group.

Ahazi, where there used to be like 8-10 rangers, and maybe 3-4 masters, now seems flooded with them. I ran around for about 10 minutes and trained like 5 people.
Are rangers destined to be the new *Uber* class? Or at least the official replacement for the CH skills the BH were taking?
For a class that even Squad Leaders were snickering at a week ago, we sure became the new popular kid in town...
I looked last night nad found a grand total of TWO including myself on Naritus.

LOL
Yup, you were the guy that trained me in Field Bioscience 1 outside the Keren Star Port. There are very few Rangers on our server that have made themselves publicly searchable. I'd say we're pretty thin on Naritus.

I agree. It mostly the length of time the game has been out. I don't think most of thepeople that want to play rangers are the Powergamer typeso alot are just now hitting the mark. and you see some more comming up soon.
Myself, I have ben wanting to go Ranger for along time and I'm just now getting close. Have bit more camping, and my apprentice points. I just can't find anyone to train out here in the middle of the Talusian wilderness.
I guess I'll have go to one ofthem City places.![]()
My ALT is a Ranger -- made Novice before the announced changes though. Thank god one of my chosen professions will actually be worth the sweat and hours.
lol! I always wanted to be a Ranger/Rifleman, so i saw holo's post as a blessing man!
But yea, i just started 5 days ago, and im already training new chars left and right
It's really interesting to me to hear what is happening with Rangers on other servers. Sounds like it is really varied.
My requests for training are still pretty frequent, but I think the reasons given on this board are probably true.
Some great responses to the post. Actually all of the them.
The Ranger forum is a breath of fresh air compared to the Ahazi forum.
Thanks guys. Rangers rock.
