Exactly...

I would never...repeat...never want BF to auto heal in camps...I would never want to take away an ability that another profession has and try to take it as our own.

I would enjoy healing BF in our camps only with an entertainer present

Lets not try to take something away from another profession, yet lets strive to make what they have better in conjunction with another profession...

Entertainers should have to do it. Otherwise they'll get a revamp and push us back to 2009.

Not only that, but they should have at least a novice elite entertainment prof .

It never occurred to me either, Calc. No offense to the people who think it should autoheal BF, but I think it's pretty absurd. The whole point of having BF in the game was to not only force people to have to at least gather and socialize, but also to give some meaning to the entertainment professions, which I think is really cool. There aren't many games where you can be non-combat professions that are actually meaningful. There are even less games that have non-combat, non-crafting professions. Heck, there are plenty of games where the only professions are combat professions. Here are the reasons I support healing BF in camps, but not auto-heal:

1) It would give entertainment professions a chance/reason to go out with hunting parties and other groups, see the world, and have a niche in the group.

2) It would give some purpose to the camp - right now, you have to go back to the city anyway, because everybody is going to have to get their BF healed before they get their wounds healed anyway (unless you have a doc that doesn't mind wasting lots of meds to heal little amounts of wounds), so there's no reason to use a camp at all- allowing entertainers to heal BF would make camps truly what they are supposed to be.

3) I also worry about what will happen to the entertainmentsupply after nobody is holo-grinding anymore, but giving camps BF auto-healing would be about as good a solution as giving Jedi the ability to harvest. If there's something wrong with a profession that doesn't allow it to fill its niche, you should improve the profession, not give its niche to another profession.

4) Cantinas are a great place to socialize, but so are camps. Sometimes you just want to have a great time with a group of friends, and not have to deal with a bunch of tweaks, n00bs, and l337 d00dz. Besides allowing entertainers to perform their function and be able to get out of the cantinas once in a while, it allows the rest of us to get out of the cantinas too - and not only still maintain the socializing function of BF-healing, but also allow those of us with computers that can't handle cantina-lag to not have to crash out of the game.

I know I'm only amere scout, butwell said Terinati. I know Calculus was probably kidding when he mentioned only elite entertainers (novice Dancer/Musician or above) should get this, but I think that should be considered as well. It let's the "professional" entertainers get a useful perk. It alsokeepshalf the PvE poplulation from picking up novice Entertainer to keep from ever needing the services of "real" entertainers.

I am never in favor of any change that would take away from an already broken profession.

High level camps should allow entertainers to heal BF, but TH has already stated this will not happen.

NO

You should have an Entertainer. Otherwise we are being hipocritical about messing with other professions skills like they are doing to ours. I don't want to have some one go "Your camps can heal BF automatically like the Entertainer skill" as a counter to an argument. It's not right and not fair to Entertainers. Now, I might concede that fishing while in a camp would, but at the same rate just sitting in a Cantina would. Only thing is that we need to make the radius of the camps effect increased to make that possible. Right now, fishing on the edge of the camp is hard to do and get the fish and be inside the camp.

I think not to auto healing BF in camps. I definitly think that the healing of BF by an entertainer in camp would be a great thing.

I started this game as a scout, but found myself caught up in the entertainment field shortly after joining. I loved the interaction between players. I also love to dance in RL and found entertaining fun in the game. I had the opertunity to join a friend in PVP, as an entertainer. I was told to stay in a camp that was deployed, and dance for the players to heal there mind wounds. I was definitly well received. I also saw then the need for camps in PVP, and the benifit of having an entertainer in the camp. Add the ability to heal BF in camp by an entertainer would: One, get the entertainer out in the field, and two, give another reason why camps are needed.

I like the idea of Rangers being able to buy an Entertainer's holo recording (think Princess Leia's holo on R2-D2) to "play" at their camp.

The Entertainer's could record different length holo's which would obviously equate to more BF being healed. The Entertainer would get xp for recording the holo as well as xp when it was used in a camp. The recording could be sold as any other data item from the bazaar or vendors.

This would seem to be a compromise for both sides.

Rangers would have the ability to provide BF healing but Entertainers would still get the xp for it and would still be needed to supply the recordings. Balance it by only allowing Master Ranger's the option to build and place a camp that supports holo recordings.

Thoughts?

I agree in theory that entertainers should be present to heal BF in camps, but how often do you see the hardcore entertainers out hunting? They would spend most of their time just sitting there watching, unless they wanted to pick up a combat skill and contribute. There isn't any easy answer I guess, but if camps don't heal BF, why do they heal mind wounds? I am trying to look at this from all angles, because I don't want people to be nerfed. Maybe the new entertainer module that is supposedly in the works for droids could be a solution, although people would probably argue the same thing about droids being able to heal BF.

Honestly,

Most of the dancers and musicians I know are hard core fighters...they have Master Dancer... + a combat profession.

believe me, all that time in a cantina with the dirty boys will give you an overpowering urge to kill

Lol, I don't blame them. But there could easily be someone who went Master Dancer/Master Musician/Master Entertainer (I used to know a few but I haven't seen them around lately) so you do have to be a bit careful anyway. But they did have +12 Ranged and Melee Defense, I think (from Master Dancer and Master Musician).
