Thread: The DEVS have it Right -- Sorry
I would be much happier if they returned the harvest to previous levels for Solo players and made the group harvest 30%, instead of 60%.
Wouldn't that help mitigate the "influx" of animal resources while still allowing the solo player to make a living without resorting to boring mission terminals?
The points here are very valid and a good discussion.
1) Casual players - There are people like you who want to play casual, (2-3 hours/week) group with them and have fun.
2) solo players - This is a MMORPG, things are going to be tougher for you. I was soloing a lot got in a group from someone running around looking to form a group, had a GREAT time, made some great XP and a few credits. I still do solo but look for low pay missions as these I have a better chance of handling.
3) Who needs the stinking credits - Some people don't care about the credits. Thats fine, another post talked about the noobs, sell them the hides at a low cost to grind through there profession then and both of you win. Personally, when my weapons wear out and the new ones go for150K I will need the credits to by it, from someone who is a merchant.
4) Noobs -- when someone is starting out, they have a lot of skill points to use. Therefore, they have the diversity that we do not have. Take along a noob with you on some of these hunts, they can pickup the artisan skills to do surveys, or medic skills that you dropped to get those other skills you have. Maybe, you can both benefit from this
Apparently the DEVS don't need to change the harvest setup as is BUT, need to modify the amount based on MOB CL? perhaps. Something that takes 30 min. to kill should not yield the same as a 30 sec. kill. The yield should be more and more harvesting skills should relate to a bigger harvest.
This it seems is what should be driven. ![]()
"I am kind of upset that I, asa Master Ranger, can harvest only marginally better than a Scout. "
- I agree, the harvest bonus has a line in the State of the Profession. ![]()
- I will be reposting the newest list on Friday, with the requirement that you all must then choose the Top 5 issues.
- I will then write up a letter based on your choices (or the conglomeration thereof), and send it off on Monday.
- Until then, you can find the most recent list in my signature.
I have no problem with the lairs. I generally don't run missions when solo (see exception below) so I rarely destroy lairs.
I completely disagree with you about the harvest nerf, however. If you join an ad hoc group as I often do, the players are only interested in the mission loot - kill the lair ASAP to get the cash. They don't even bother with the harvest unless they are trying to get scout skills. And I generallyhave not grouped much with players still looking for scoutingexperience. Plus, the missions will generally be haphazard which doesn't allow us to accumulate large amounts of particular types of hides that armorsmiths, for example, want. Case in point is dantooine where huurtons drop fairly decent wooly hide. Instead groups tend to concentrate on pikets and some dolts wind up with bol or voritor missions. So good hide is still hard to come by (want 10k of 30 OQ 250 Mall wooly hide?).
Needless to say there are threads on the armorsmith form that resent the recent decrease in hide availability and are blaming us rangers and scouts for making the whole thing up and refuse to pay higher prices since the amounts available to sell are lower.
The only way I can get good quality materials in a decent amount is by soloing (or getting very lucky with a group) and then running missions (for low level critters like chokus) or taking on larger mobs in opportunistic fashion. But with the reductions in place I'm better off grinding out missions. I don't get experience anymore and killing one mob for hours is no different than killing another. Using skills to take out a CL 55 mob solo, with no armor, no pets, and using only MELEEattacks just doesn't provide the reward it used to.
Not to mention the fact that Holo calls it a bug despite quoting GreenMarine saying it was intended.
I'm sorry but this was poorly thought out. I could live with the group harvest reduction andin fact was not bothered with it when it was announced, but groups are no longer worthwhile when looking for particular types of materials unless that is the group's mission - good luck finding those ad hoc. It was just not well thought out, and part of the blame from the group aspect falls to us for not thinking things through.
To me, a casual player is someone who plays once, maybe twice a week for a two to three hour stretch at at time.
I am NOT a causal player. I play atleast two hours a day, upwards to 4 on a weeknight (8 to midnight) and most of my free time on the weekend.

I don't know about the other Rangers Delta, but I don't wear panties.. Maybe it's a Scout thing? ![]()

Do I get a treat if I stay quiet on this thread? ![]()
I have faith that the devs will set things straight, and do it real soon.
Last time the broke something it took them a month to fix (and then they broke it even worse) and at first they denied the problem. The script looks the same to me so far when Holo first claims it is a bug then quotes the Ranger dev as saying these changes were intended and other changes are working as desired.

SB,
The "script" is different this time.
Read the other posts.
