I grew up hunting and fishing with my father. We did more fishing when I was younger because we lived close the the Gulf then. I tried waterfowl a few times but I'm poor a poor aim with shotguns and I can do without being wet, miserable and sitting in flooded fields. We went deer hunting several times a year for twenty years for whitetail and the occassional axis, fallow or sika, plus turkey, feral hogs, javalina, etc. (Even though I cannot hit with a shotgun, I am a very good aim with a rifle. I guess I got that from my mom being one of LSU's first women marksmen.)

I have not gone in the past several years because my interests are elsewhere, but over twenty years of outdoors life will hold me over for a bit longer. I hope. I do so long to get out of the city...

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

He never really thought I was interested and never taught me how to hunt.

So a message to all you fathers out there.

When you ask your kid if he wants to go hunting when he's 16 and he says no, keep asking.

I was/am deadly accurate with all forms of archery.

My favorite is the recurve bow, takes more skill.

My dad never let me practice too much with his compund bow because I kept pushing arrow after arrow out the back side of the target and kept messing up his arrows!

You can always practice with a different bow then you hunt with, but you also need to practice some with the bow you hunt with just before taking the trip. It's like a shake-down of the equipment and it gets you readjusted to the sites and what the drop rate will be like. Every time I did not do the latter the compound recurve I use to hunt with will shoot high, even though I know in my mind to expect that.

I used to use an open recurve but maimed the deer several times and not reaching the heart. Watching a deer die by a pieced lung only and missing the heart is not fun. You want to be certain, so I use compound bows now.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

I've never gone hunting, but I know I'm deadly accurate with a rifle at long ranges in high winds. and I've camped in the Rockies, so I love that aspect of nature.

Oddly enough, I'm a very strict vegetarian (to the point of only eating free-range eggs and non-BGH milk, etc).

My father has been hunting for years and I respect all hunters that kill for food, using compound bows and such. However, I have absolutely no love for sport riflemen.

If I were stuck in the wild and it were between me and a deer, that deer wouldn't be long for this world. I think SWG brings out the hunter in my blood without the need for harming animals =)

I've neverbeen hunting. I'm more of an explorer than a hunter. Even in game I often just go out and wander the planets. I knew I wanted to be a Ranger (and CH--dropped it because any group I joined would abuse my pets) before launch but I didn't choose it for killing stuff. I do hunt in game but it gets boring for me after a while (it was way too easy when I had proper weapon skills). When I have a chance to play now I often go for big game hunts. I get to go out and find the stuff and then call in a few friends to actually kill it (it was much easier to do when I had /concealshot).

Camped whenever I could thru high school.

Wandered into this odd place after college, called the 82d Airborne. Camping at 70 below zero was interesting. So was the jungle in a monsoon. And the desert, at 140. And the odd and strange things I got to see and do.

Recently started camping again.

I hunted, fished, and camped all the time when I was younger. I have a couple camping trips a year now. I fish some, but haven't hunted in years. I probably will start hunting again soon though. I have just been to busy.

I'm a vegetarian.

My Dad hunts with blackpowder rifle. I shot that thing once when I was 10 and it knocked me on my ass lol. My shoulder didnt work right for a week. My mom wanted to hunt down my dad, skin him, and cook him for dinner.

Actually now that I think of it, maybe my vegetarianism springs from a long history of putting my bike away in the barn at night and running smack into the deer carcass hanging from the rafters. That kind of thing tends to scar a pre-teen girl.

My husband is a good shot with a compound bow, but only at targets and other inanimate objects. I hope. Eep.

Never hunted, doesnt really interest me. I've never been a big fan of camping nor fishing. Add in some beer though and I'll be all about it. Speaking of which, Scarin - we should do that before the summer ends...

i've done a lot of fishing in RL...which may explain why i love it so much in game

never been hunting, but i have done a lot of target archery & shooting (mainly with my dad'sold .22 rifle & pistol) & some skeet shooting (though i was young & the shotgun nearly knocked me on my butt every time).

like many others i am more of an explorer, though. between my childhood with my folks, an active boy scout troop & my own sense of adventure i have camped, hiked, canoed & cycledall over northern indiana/southern michigan, the colorado rockies, some mountains in new mexico & now bits of southern california.

i dig the "desert" terrain down here, but really miss the woods & riversof indiana.
