I hate droids for the fact that they are slow and sometimes when you kill something and tell your droid to harvest, kill something else and tell it to harvest that, it skips the 1st body if it hasnt harvested it yet. So maybe add a droid queue or speed enhancements to harvesting droids.

yes, they are way too slow. and if you don't load a combat module in it, it'll run away from creatures faster than a force-running jedi from a bounty hunter.

my alt is an aspiring DE, so I would LOVE to make all of these suggested droids. or make one uber droid that does all of the things listed above

how's this, a creature taming droid. it uses the lightning shot to train animals to do your bidding.

No no we train our pets through love, attention, repitition of commands several times and teach them tricks.

Then we tell them to kill in our name and get incapped so we dont have to waste a stim on ourselves. Its all about love

and when we're done with them, we fold them up and shove them inside of our little datapad computers without any food.

but the secret ingredient is love... dammit

OK how about slamming this sucker back on topic. Since a lot of Rangers are CH's as well

A creature management droid that could hold pets you are no longer using. Basically a portable zoo with legs or wheels.

And yes I know thats CH and not Ranger. But im pushing a topic i knocked OT back into place.

In this regard i suggested a droid which would sort of 'refine' any organic you put into it giving it a buff in stat value. For instance, i gather 10k tat avian (hehe) i then place it into my droid refiner and bingo! the values are increased by 20%. This 20% would be calculated byusing my harvesting level and the droid values.

Sadly, you would be generating many "types" of a resource and I'm not certain that they will go for that. You can't just juggle a number and store it in the database: the new number makes a new type and more types are database space. While I'm not against the idea, indeed it is a good one. It's just technically I cannot see how it could be done well.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

great idea Fodder.

i'm not a CH, and my datapad is out of control as it is. some sort of droid that could store datapad stuff, like waypoints, pet control devices, factory schematics and whatnot would be great. i know there is a Data module for droids, but for the life of me, i don't know what it does.

the CH traveling zoo droid would have to be a Binary Load Lifter, cuz some of those pets can be pretty big.

My favorite droids in the list given:

Fishing Droid

Milking Droid

Holograph Rescue Droid

Longer Range Tracking droid (maybe even instead of giving us a new droid module for it, maybe make some alterations to the seeker droids that BH's use, so that when a Ranger uses it, it lets you use it to track creatures instead of taking the DNA sample of the target and tracking them down.

Another idea:

A buff droid:

Modules it must have:

Medic Capability Module

Food/Chem Crafting Module

Buff Creation Module (does not exist right now)

You call the Buff Droid. You insert a certain amount of certain resources (organic, mineral, chemical) and the droid create a buff pack, and then administers the buff to you, or to your target. Make these very small buffs, so that it is not stepping on any doctor's toes. just give us a tiny little boost to our stats.

I'd like a droid module that could refine our currently almost worthless and +50 filling /forage items into something useful.

I was hoping something like this could become part of the future Ranger revamp but I guess new droids and the revamp are equally far far away.

Our /forage items should be able to be combined with Bio-Engineer/Chef and Medic/Doctor consumables ( and possibly loot from the new loot system ) in order to craft simple and advanced buffs/potions.

Wound healing, disease and poison healing are some of the effects I would like to see but there are a lot of other effects that could aid a Ranger and as long as the Ranger is only able to apply the finished products on his own body ( kinda like TK meditation ) I don't think the Medic/Doctor professions would mind having something they could trade with us for organics.

I certainly think that any kind of ranger droids require certification gained through rangering. Im not opposed to droids at all, I have a harvesting droid thats as slow as pouring school gravey, but what gets my goat is that a scout with a harvesting droid can do what I do nearly as well without the SP useage.

I like all of the ideas so far, all could work and I think I'd have fun with all of them. But without knowing what my role is, I wouldnt want to suggest any just yet. Have to think more.

Oreet,

The data storage module holds waypoints and schematics i believe.

It once held Creatures early on in the game but this functionality was removed.

As to what I would like to see is very careful consideration in any droids that mimic profession abilities. I have been against Harvesting droids becuase a low level scout with a high rated Harvest droid and food can equal a ranger. These droids have further allowed people to spend fewer points on Rangering/Scouting and place those points in combat stacked templates while remaining on PAR with Rangers and over time they can out hravest a ranger. That being said I wouldn't be opposed to having a droid that can maintain my HTFB so I can hunt and return. That presumes of course that my HTFB would have a purpose of its own, perhaps queing the server to generate spawns or soemthing useful.
