I'm going Master Creature Handler, and Master Ranger. I will probably also go level 4 rifles, level 4 support, and some squad leader if I can have skill points left over

Master Ranger/MCH here. Trumpet you probably not have the SP to squad leader. My best guess is the only way to have an elite along with MCH and Master Ranger is the BH route. I could be wrong on that. if anyone can tell me another option I would appreciate it.

I would check out this site: http://www.typeblue.com/cbuilder/swg-cb.php?prof_id=15

Try building a new setup there - from what I've seen, there's quite a bit of SP changes, and found I can pick up a little squad leader if I want.

SL and BH have the same non Scout requirements so both have the same skill point costs.

Although I'd recommend against SL post CU in the current state. It's not very useful (although things could change). But you do get an awesome looking pistol at Master.

I'm Master Creature Handler... and will be after CU.

It's a great complement to Rangerhood and in PVE currently, there are only a few animals giving troubles during hunts.

After CU that may change, but we'll have to see first.

So... asa CH your pets are really enough of an offensive force to use as your primary weapon? Do battles take a long time? I havent really been around a CH since the beginning months of the game when EVERYBODY had a pet of some kind.

Well, currently they do tank a good deal. Especially the BE-ed pets with high kinetic resistances...

I usually have 2 level 15s out (now 3 level 15s) with around 60% vs kinetic and no armor.

Doing bantha lairs for example, i can have them aggro all and I can shoot/help from a distance as rifleman.

I can clean out a bantha lair in, about 5m to 10m or so...

I know, a TKM can do it a lot faster and a lot of other melee professions or completely ranged professions may do it quiet faster, but for me is the rather fun part of it.

How it will be after CU i don't know. The CU's hate system is messing things up:

* (partially in live already) tamed pets attacking their "natural" enemies while walking the lands, so in effect "1 of my weapons is wandering off to other places...."

* when I shoot something, the thing aggroes me, so tanking has become a bit useless....

I hope these will be fixed tough.

And, as a sidenote, a CH still need to cope with a lot of bugs

I'm going to try master ranger master+ bounty hunter on TC soon, as soon as I've seen how rifleman compares.

Pretty much same template as Dariane; Master Ranger / Master CH. Only difference is I dropped Novice Rifleman in favour of Medic (Organic Chem IV) and therefore access to Bio-Engineer Tissues III and my own Pet Stims.

Like Dariane says, CH as your 'primary' form of combat is never really going to be all that efficient or fast compared to most other combat profs, but I have that combination purely for the fun aspect rather than being especially effective and I will likely stick to it as it gives me a great deal of pleasure, even taking into account its shortcomings.

Although on paper, I theoretically shouldn't get impacted like Dariane as much by the 'Hate' system by not actually shooting at all, unfortunately it seems just as keen to switch agro to me even when I'm using only traps and/or pet stims, so post-CU, who knows. Not looking great right now from the testing I've done, so can only hope a lot of the CH issues get addressed before go-live.

As things stand today though, hunting 'solely' with pets can be a lot of fun and a challenge. Unless things change on TC, I am really going to miss assessing MOBS for their weaknesses and choosing the appropriate pets for their specials and 'orchestrating' their combat from the side. I supplement my pets specials with traps (Big plus, not having a gun I use traps a LOT more heh) and the occassional stim when needed. Don't believe the 'so called' vet CH's on the CH forum who called me a bare faced liar for suggesting I could successfully hunt with pets and traps only, that's just their narrow-mindedness. Sure, I can't take down a Krayt in my normal day to day unbuffed and un-armored forest duster travel wear. I could care less, Rancors and Gaping Spider Queens are plenty enough of a challenge solo for me and I have no issues with that whatsoever.

I'd say MCH is a nice prof to have for a Ranger if your the laid back sort and are just hunting for fun. If your serious about filling a meat contract quickly thoough, I'd probably think TKM, Swords/Pike or Rifleman would be a lot quicker though.

Bottom line, I respect every Rangers template and wish them well in the hunt, no matter what 'challenges' the CU throws in our path.
