Pretty much same template as Dariane; Master Ranger / Master CH. Only difference is I dropped Novice Rifleman in favour of Medic (Organic Chem IV) and therefore access to Bio-Engineer Tissues III and my own Pet Stims.
That might be an alternative i'd be looking at too, but all depends on how the hate system will be fixed.
Like Dariane says, CH as your 'primary' form of combat is never really going to be all that efficient or fast compared to most other combat profs, but I have that combination purely for the fun aspect rather than being especially effective and I will likely stick to it as it gives me a great deal of pleasure, even taking into account its shortcomings.
Exactly... The ones that know me on FarStar will most of the time see me accompanied by 1 or more pets. It's a lot of fun yet very challenging.
As things stand today though, hunting 'solely' with pets can be a lot of fun and a challenge. Unless things change on TC, I am really going to miss assessing MOBS for their weaknesses and choosing the appropriate pets for their specials and 'orchestrating' their combat from the side. I supplement my pets specials with traps (Big plus, not having a gun I use traps a LOT more heh) and the occassional stim when needed. Don't believe the 'so called' vet CH's on the CH forum who called me a bare faced liar for suggesting I could successfully hunt with pets and traps only, that's just their narrow-mindedness. Sure, I can't take down a Krayt in my normal day to day unbuffed and un-armored forest duster travel wear. I could care less, Rancors and Gaping Spider Queens are plenty enough of a challenge solo for me and I have no issues with that whatsoever.
Biggest problem with current system is the high end NPC mobs (like ns, moonclan, corvette) which can take out pets rather quick (too quick in my opinion) and the lack for making any difference in pvp. Maybe that is something the cu will address, but doubt it. Wouldn't hold my breath on it.
I agree with you that with only pets and traps you can hunt... It would take a lot more time tough if you have nothing else to do. I use pets, guns, traps and the ocassional fighter droid. Gives me enough firepower to do a lot of killing.
The fun is, in our case it seems, to pick the pets that are most usefull and have fun working with them.
