All I can say is wow. I was just getting all excited about making Novice Ranger yetserday, and now I read this! I am really looking forward to progressing as a Ranger. I took my own sweet time getting to Master Scout and really enjoyed it. This just gives me added incentive to take my time.

These are good and interesting changes. But several important points from Mineras submission were not responded to.
Traps - What happened to the experiment points we asked for in both Scout/Ranger traps. New traps that don't work against higher level creatures are of limited use. I can bleed a Krayt, I cannot trap one. This is unbalanced. Both other profs that are a combination of combat and crafting skills, ie Smuggler and CM have experiment points.
Pvp - What happened to our request for Scout/Ranger traps working vs. CH pets? As masters of creature hunting this is the obvious role we should play in pvp and much needed for pvp balance. It's a very nice fit. (Conceal vs players is a very Bad idea and would make us the new CH exploit class I am totally against it.)
Economic role - What happened to the proposal that our harvests be larger? We still have to struggle to make a living. Undercut by newbie scouts on the bazaar, we cannot make more than 3cr per piece, a price that is much too cheap for the time invested, unlike harvester obtained resources. Upping the amount we harvest would have compensated by at least adding volume to our 3cr sales.
Please don't make us into Artisans !! - I have a concern regarding the camo kits, newhunting blindsand new trap baits. Please limit these items to Ranger harvests hide/bone/meat. Taking a group to a planet and then having to waste time surveying for minerals, poly, greens before anything can be done is just a tedious waste of time. In order to take advantage of the conceal kits i would have to either bring a surveyor, or blow 15+ points on artisan. On dangerous planets surveying Before we could use the group conceal would no doubt result in a quick trip to the cloning room.
Don't get me wrong. This response was incredibly good, especially compared to the response to other Correspondent concerns. But that doesn't mean it shoudn't be a thorough response to all of Mineras's proposals. We waited a long time and put much time and energy into the first top five issues, and I would really like to see answers on All the points before we move on.
Holocron will you marry me? No seriously. Thank you for taking my favorite class, which despite all my denial was a glorified scout. And turning it into something unique. I will continue to wear my title of Ranger with pride.

Looks great! Some things I'd like to add to the discussion
I think Rangers should play a big part of crowd control, which is sorely lacking in SWG. I understand that we'll have a new bear trap to root, but I think we need a tossable mezz type trap. Perhaps even the Scout's Adhesive Mesh could act like a mezz trap. That way there will be more people able to mezz, other than just Rangers, but perhaps a Rangers can last longer. Of course if the mob is attacked the mezz breaks off.
Has the rare item forage been addressed? Is forage being revamped at all and will the bag full bug be fixed soon?

I just posted a big post about what I'd like to see Rangers be able to do and then read the first post in this thread. Many of the items I suggested are being worked on/being implemented. Awesome, I'm extremely pleased by this and looking forward to using my new abilities when they go live.

Any word on when these changes will be implemented? I really would appreciate having these Ranger advantages since my Commando skills aren't giving me any.

It doesn't appear that any xp requirements are changing, nor are there any "new" lines. Everything is just going to fill in the big holes in the existing lines. /conceal is going into Wayfaring, specialized camps into Frontiering, tracking into Field Bioscience, and stationary traps into Advanced Trapping. No xp types are being replaced.

Hello all,
I played EQ for 2+ years, great game, Was mainly a paladin but also a ranger. EQ offered spawns with uber loot who wandered certain zones, rangers had the benefit of finding these elite spawn before anyone else by using their tracking skill.
2 reasons this does not apply to SWG
1. No real timed/Static spawn
2. No quality loot off of NPC's
Wake up haters, your EQ arguements to not apply here.
